Rachel's husband has died and she's all alone on this huge remote family farm and she's doing the best she can. However, when her troubled, awful son returns home and demands money and the sale of the farm she begins to worry he might do something to her.

Making friends with the new Police Sargent - Mike, he checks in on her and their friendship soon develops into something more.

With a couple of strange things happening here and there, a dead body and some randoms popping in and out to the farm- Racheal realises she really is mostly alone and may need some help and support from others.

The description in this is detailed and the imagery is clear and you can really picture the isolated farm, the animals and the old house where Racheal lives and you really begin to wonder what will happen to Racheal if her son doesn't get what he wants.

Thank -you Shawline Publishing for sending me this copy to read and review.

Outback Australia and Rachael was having to find her way on her own, husband Sam having passed away and her troubled son estranged. Her friends knowing she was independent were there but didn't push. The big decision, stay and try to run the cattle farm that had been handed down Sams family, or sell and make a life in town. So tied to the land and space, this was a hard call.
A scary visit and threats from her son Johnny shook her to the core. He demanded the sale, making Rachael both fearful and challenged.
The tale of fear and fight, challenges and heartbreak followed. Holding on to see if Rachael will find her way, right to the last chapter.
A warming read hitting on our vulnerabilities, Thanks beauty & lace & Gillian Wells for an escape into a drawing read.

Alone is the first book by Gillian Wells that I have read. I will be looking for more of her books. She writes in a fast, descriptive style that made me want to keep reading. It is an easy read.
The main character, Rachael is left to manage the large farming property, after the untimely death of her husband. She is unsure if she can keep going, or if she will have to sell. The arrival of a new man in town, slowly changes this.
At first she is u sure of him and her concerns are with good reason.
The story tells of the usual gossip in small towns, the support farmers offer each other and the close friendships that form
During the story Racheal needs to rely on all of these. It’s a great read, with plenty of twists. Thanks @beautyandlace for the opportunity to read it

Alone by Gillian Wells is a great read. I picked it up and kept turning the pages far too late into the night, because it's so readable. Loved the character of Rachel, and there are plenty of adventures and twists and turns to keep you interested the whole way through. My first book by this author, but I'll definitely read more. Thanks to Beauty and Lace for a copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary, honest review.

✍️ Rachel lives alone in her remote property in the outback after the death of her husband and estrangement from her son who has returned back home demanding his share of her father's inheritance. She has become afraid of him after finding a body in her creek and suspecting if he's involved. Upon calling the police and meeting new sergeant Mile, she finds their friendship to be very much a change to her loneliness. After her dog dies suspiciously Rachel knows there more going on than she can handle.

A couple of things stood out for for me before I started this book. I was Intrigued by the Synopsis I read and also that it was written by Gillian Wells. After reading her book "Inheritance"and simply Devouring it I have to say that the same thing happened with this one too. This was a Delightful and heartrending story. I loved it!

I couldn't put it down. I was immersed in protagonist Rachel's life and her picturesque home in the Australian outback. The writing style was graceful and flowing and filled with empathy and compassion.

The story was brimming with Romance, Thrill, Drama, Violence, Loneliness and a PLOT TWIST I DID NOT SEE COMING!! I can't wait to read the follow up book!

Highly recommend!
