Eric Folder has moved to Oregon to attend Portland State University when an automobile accident leaves him stricken with migraine headaches. The resulting visual effects-something medical professionals term an aura-render him virtually blind and defenseless when a gang of street thugs attacks him. Desperate to see and needing to protect himself, Eric reflexively tears at the luminous lines of light and finds they have become tangible. When he pulls them aside, his present reality folds away with them, leaving him in better circumstances with his enemies vanished. Attempts to fold his way out of successive perils leave him in increasingly strange situations until, eventually, his world becomes a nightmare.

Multidimensional thrill.

Following a head injury, Eric Folder, a young soon-to-be undergraduate student, gain the ability to cross into parallel universes.

As things turn from bad to worse, he flees from one parallel universe to another. During his ‘folds’ he discovers more and more about himself, his family, his enemies and the girl he loves.

This YA Science Fiction is an exciting read that will keep both the young and the adult readers engaged from the first page until the last.

Raymond Bolton produce an excellent work I would recommend to others, leaving me a taste for more...

So this book is a science fiction book but with a very unique story. I have never read something quite like this before so I found this very interesting. This is an exciting book that doesn't seem to let you put it down. My one complaint about this book was that through the whole thing I was never entirely sure what the plot was. It didn't seem like there was anything that needed to be solved or anything of that sort. The storyline is amazing but it seemed as though there was not any direction until the very end. Overall though this is a great book with a very unique concept. I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am reviewing this voluntarily.

Folder by Raymond Bolton is a scifi time "folding" novel that starts out thrilling and then takes readers back to the beginning of how things got started and landed Eric where he finds himself. It's a really engaging story that captured my attention from the beginning, but then had me getting a bit impatient to get back to where things "began" with the start of the book.
Folder is the first book that I have read by Raymond Bolton, and being an avid reader of science fiction novels I was curious to see where the author would take me on this new unique storyline. Now when I read "Folder" I was curious as to how exactly this was going to translate in the story. I have to say that I pleasantly surprised. Eric is a "folder." He names it after his own last name and then the ability itself. He is literally folding the reality when it presents itself in certain ways during certain situations that he finds himself in. How he gets this unique ability comes about through an accident that should have done more damage than it does, but he survives with only a few minor injuries.
This book follows Eric as he "folds" through one reality to another. There is no real explanation as to how he gains the ability and it seems that he's really unable to control it truly, or where he ends up. Each fold brings him to a similar but different place in time, and then things really begin to interesting, but it takes awhile so just be patient.
My only issue with this book is Eric himself. He's too passive. I keep expecting him to take some sort of initiative when he sees certain things and situations playing out but he never really does until it gets closer to the end of the book. It makes me a bit disappointed in him, because it makes him appear as though his primary concern is with himself and not with those that he is supposed to truly care about.
All in all, this book is really engaging and kept me engaged throughout so I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. Each fold brings about the same things, but with some minor and some major changes, but Eric himself never really rises to the occasion to brighten up the story like I had hoped. But the idea of "folding" and changing one's reality definite is a unique premise for this storyline and one I enjoyed reading.

Filled with Thrilling jumps and lots of arcade racing action ,it's a perfect Novel for everyone who is looking for a bit of speed based excitement ..The tantalizing narration is easy going simply placing the readers in the heart of the plot .

Now it's time to hit up the track ,so the plot opens with Eric Folder the male protagonist of this Novel and the narrator of this journey .The author has amazingly layed down all the events ,places and characters. We get to read that Eric happily stayed with his parents and Sister Trish ,and have recently shifted to Portland ,Oregon from Santa Fe ,New Mexico ..They travel from one end to another by car ,and the entire scenario is inked down gracefully by vivid description of the roads , the buildings and the landscape .
Eric And his family lead a good, satisfactory life ,as both his parents worked .The family bonding is also portrayed well, adding extra charm .

Eric, as all the other young boys would do ,goes out to explore the new place and unfortunately meets with an accident there .He is admitted in the hospital and soon discharged after given proper attendance .From here onwards the Novel starts taking up turns keeping the momentum balanced . The readers are immediately placed in the front row of excitement with the flipping of pages ,as gradually after the accident strange things start happening with Eric . Eric is seen joining his new University and hence has to travel to meet his advisor and also new campus .

As he travels he meets a girl named Erin and has an episode with her , future few more incidence happen sequentially .That bounds Eric to reanalyze , and to his wonder nobody is aware of it at all .One incidence was he being relocated from his kitchen area to upstairs was enough for him and the readers in evoking interest in unfolding the mystery .

What was that ?
How did this happen ?
Was it hallucinations or real or something beyond that ?

Few pulse increasing moments that can be experienced by reading this wonderous piece of work done by author Raymond Bolton .

Without giving spoilers I would say it's a fantastically woven story with a prodigious climax ..

•The book has a very intriguing cover page that describes the story uniquely. The genre of the book is action, thriller, adventure, and science fiction.

•Eric Folder, the story's protagonist, is about to start college. With his family, he relocated to Portland from New Mexico. The novel starts slowly, describing typical days in the life of a college student majoring in physics who enjoys writing poetry. Everything was regular in his life until one day, on his way to college, he was involved in a vehicle accident, which left him with migraine headaches. He obtained the ability to travel into a parallel reality as a result of his brain injury. He stays in each reality for a while before being forced to depart and go on to the next as things get out of his control. Relationships shift from one dimension to the next, with each new reality being more dissimilar to the previous. After each fresh transfer from one dimension to the next, Eric has a better understanding of how to adjust to his new form. Each fresh young man has a unique background, as well as those he thought he knew.

"Folder" by Raymond Bolton is a riveting science fiction novel that follows the journey of Eric Folder, a college student who is struck with migraines that leave him nearly blind and vulnerable to attack. As Eric's ability to fold reality becomes more pronounced, he finds himself in increasingly strange and dangerous situations. I don't usually talk about the story but for this book, couldn't resist. Now coming to my views on this read.

The author skillfully weaves together elements of science fiction, thriller, and coming-of-age drama to create a truly unique and engaging reading experience. Bolton's prose is sharp and vivid, painting a picture of a world that is both familiar and surreal. The character of Eric is well-drawn and sympathetic, and readers will find themselves rooting for him even as he makes questionable decisions and descends deeper into his own mind.

The concept of folding reality is intriguing, and Raymond Bolton expertly explores the consequences of tampering with the fabric of the universe. The characters are well-drawn and multi-dimensional, particularly Eric, who struggles with his new abilities and the horrifying consequences they bring. Mach's writing style is engaging and descriptive, providing readers with a clear and imaginative picture of the world that Eric is experiencing.

"Folder" is a captivating blend of science fiction and suspense that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The book's exploration of themes such as power, reality, and perception is thought-provoking and adds depth to the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling, imaginative and mind-bending science fiction novel that will keep them hooked from start to finish.

Folder is a young adult urban Science fiction novel penned by the author Raymond Bolton. Protagonist of the story is Eric Folder who moved to Portland, Oregon from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Eric has his parents and sister Trish in his family.

Eric moved to Oregon to attend the Portland State University. His parents also got a job in Portland. He stepped out of his home and later found himself in a hospital. Doctor Silberstein told him that he had an accident and is now experiencing headaches because of that. Eric was admitted to hospital for two days. After 2 days he returned home. Eric doesn't remember anything about the accident and the gap in his memory bothered him.

When Eric got involved in a fight with street thugs, he felt defenseless because he wasn't able to see clearly. Grab a copy of this book to know about how Eric's life kept on changing and took him far away from his reality.

Language used in the novel is simple. Pace is little slow in the beginning but later the story took pace. The twists and turns in the plot made this story more interesting. Cover photo of the book is eye catchy and storyline is captivating. I liked Eric's character. It's unique and written well by the author. If you are a fan of urban sci-fi novels then don't miss to pick this one.

an inflated balloon

The premise of the story is solid. And I like the personality created by the writer. My problem was the story is built up for the ending and that is where and I felt robbed

Actual rating: not giving this one any

I read this book as a part of SPSFC!

I'm not going to go into much detail because I actually couldn't connect at all with this book. My main complains remain with the main character, who I couldn't stand, so sadly this one was a no for me.
