The realism of human interactions in this book makes it a very strong read. For a first time author, the pace is strong and never lags while giving the core characters enough time to be three dimensional. I enjoyed it a great deal.

Circumstances take a ordinary man and put him out front of a attack on American soil like had never happened before. Now that man must protect his family and friends from what is to come. Chase has a demon that comes out when he gets put in situations that just need someone or something to take over and do the motions, and as long as the demon saves his family and friends he doesn't care.
This book is based on a high altitude electro-magnetic pulse going off and plunging the USA in total darkness. This was a action packed, suspense filled wonderful book that I was in no way ready for it to end. The characters are real and it is totally easy to believe yourself there helping the group. It was a good audio book narrated by Ricky Wolff despite some interesting pronunciations. I can't wait for more to come so I can hear what happens to Chase and his family.

Good book!
This was a fast moving book that kept the reader's attention but there was very little punctuation used. Lol. Some people would not be able to get used to sentences just running on but I finally figured out if you read fast enough, the words make sense! The story was good and interesting if a little too perfect. Everything they needed to do or acquire, they magically knew where to get it and got it with
hardly any trouble. The husband walked from Miami to Texas in a short time; the daughter and boy friend made it 250 miles in days; and the main character rescued his friends from a camp with a hundred guards with just two other men. You have to suspend belief at times but, I have to say, I still enjoyed it and read the whole tale without giving up on the many editorial problems.

An EMP attack turns America back two centuries
When the lights go out, a family of preppers and some friends gather their necessaries and make for a secluded farm. Raiding stores and warehouses for supplies and arms, they set the farm up for long-term primitive survival. Family outliers know to make their way to the farm. Lessons in preparation, survival and weaponry are described and displayed.
While this book really needs the attention of an editor to repair misspellings, broken sentences and grammar, the basic storyline is entertaining and enlightening. The characters are picturesque, invested and educated in basic prepping for survival. The storyline is good and solidly conveys the author's goals of teaching while entertaining. I'm going to continue the tale in the next book in the series - it's a good read.

I am an avid reader of a wide variety of different kinds of books, I've read many books from many different authors over the years. A.P.Texan 's book, Chasing the Dark book #1 was an absolute pleasure, I really got into reading it front to back and am looking forward to reading book #2. Which I just downloaded this morning on my kindle. I hope this author keeps up the great story telling!!

This is the first book by A. P. Texan I have read, but hopefully it won't be the last. A great new take on survival after an EMP, great characters and lots of believable action.

For a first novel, A. P. Texan can did a great job. Dynamic characters with an exciting story line. I'm just waiting on the next installment!

Excellent story
Excellent but need to know what happens next! It does need a good editor for the Kindle version, but it’s a good read if you can overlook bad punctuation and extraneous words. Would have liked to know more about the trip home from Florida, but still a great story.
