Serina arrived at school one day to discover her desk had been vandalized—someone’s scratched the lyrics to a love song in it…and that someone turned out to be Mizukawa-sempai, a boy who’s one year her senior. Before she realized it, she'd asked him out … and now, they're well on their way to the next step in their relationship! Serina's starting her second year of high school soon, and that means Sports Day is right around the corner. She can barely contain her excitement when she finds herself on Team Red with Mizukawa-sempai…but Higuchi-sempai winds up on Team Red too, and he's got his eye on Serina!
Annnnd we are back at it with a school festival. Whyyyy?. This time, it takes much more chapters than the previous festival we had in the series. And that’s why I was so bored by this. I just didn’t care about it.
Just like the last time I’ve read it, I’m really disappointed by some of the drawings. They were so good in the previous volumes but here, they are flat, especially Mizukawa’s drawings which don’t feel like him at all.
1st Read (April 2019)
I’m disappointed by this volume since the previous ones were a strong 5 stars for me. Nothing much happen in this one to be honest. I found some scenes really confusing. Some drawings weren’t good either and felt really different, especially those of Mizukawa.
Celebrating the couple's one year anniversary after their first proper sports day together, this was as cute as any of the vols in this series has been.
Higuchi came across as a completely sore loser as he pined over Serina, who, quite frankly, couldn't give one single hoot about him, she was so head-over-heels in love with her boyfriend, Mizukawa. And quite right too, as they once again showed off the many ways they were well-suited for each other.
The ending was fantastic. A little glimpse of jealousy from Mizukawa really changed the atmosphere and Serina's newfound readiness promised an enticing You Got Me, Sempai!, Vol. 7 to come!
The one thing I can say about this series is that it does try to avoid common shojo tropes — or, at least, it utilizes them in fresher ways. I’m cautiously optimistic that this may become one of my favorite high school shojo romances.
More of a 3.5 star rating; It was really interesting learning a bit more about the other senpai (who’s name i keep forgetting) and especially seeing his interactions with Serina. It was also interesting to see how his actions affect Serina’s relationship with Mizukawa, especially how other students perceive things. I’m curious to see how things go after the Sports Festival and, with Serina wanting to take her and Mizukawa’s relationship to the next level.
This book was a sweet pick-me-up for what has turned out to be a rather stressful day.
I appreciate Serina and Mizukawa's honesty in their relationship and hope they continue to be genuine and trusting going forward into their future. I hate reaching the part of a relationship story where they face their biggest hurdles, and I don't look forward to when that comes for this pair, but I trust they will get through it.
It has been so long since I picked up this series again! Glad to see Mizukawa and Koshino always communicating what they think and I feel their relationship might take a different turn in the upcoming volumes.
But compared to volume 3 and 2, I don't think this one and vol 4 are that great. Hopefully volume 6 might be better? . . . . [I DON'T WANT A LOVE TRIANGLE PLEASE :( ]
