Decent
There are many typos and errors in this book.
That being said, it's a decent mystery/thriller.
From it's gripping prologue to the satisfying conclusion.
In the wake of the pandemic, Vanessa Penner is laid off from her job in Toronto. She heads to her family home in the small town of Garrett.
Needing work, she ends up accepting a position at the Garrett Gazette working for Phil Beecher.
He wants her to be a fresh pair of eyes looking into the Redeemer fire of 22 years earlier.
The church had burnt to the ground under suspicious circumstances and two people lost their.
Soon Vanessa is plunged into a world of dark secrets.
The more she digs, the greater the danger.
Will she solve the mystery of the Holy Redeemer fire?

A MUST read!
From the moment I read the first few paragraphs of this book, I was hooked! The details described in the scene, setting and characters made me feel like I was right beside Vanessa, following her around as she puts the pieces together of what transpired the fire to start in the first place. I didn’t want to stop reading because I needed to know: was it arson, or murder - and were my theories of what I believed took place, actually the reality?
I was extremely tense reading the prologue because it felt like I was right there when this tragic event took place, yet I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the end of it!

S.L. Luck's detail for subtlety is genius. As another reviewer has mentioned: you feel like you are with Vanessa in every scene. The gentle touch, the nod, or the sideways glance are a few of the skillful techniques she uses to keep us wondering.
Luck crafts a compelling mystery that leaves you guessing until the end. As one of Canada's up and coming authors I believe you will be hearing more about Luck as she continues to garner international attention.

I really liked it. This is a winner in my mind. Pushed to an early release, there is unfortunately some cleaning up to do, which is sad to see, but otherwise had all the elements required for a great read. Nice cover too.

Redeemer is a well written, involving, and satisfying read which leads you to answers that you may not see coming. 4 star story.

Didn't like
Won this in a Goodreads giveaway. Too much profanity and many unlikable characters not to mention some printing errors. I don't recommend.
