This was as far as Eli Massen could go to escape his former life. The far edge of the system, harvesting the detritus of shattered moon. Remnant of a war a long time in the past. Yet there is a secret out here. A left over piece of technology from that forgotten conflict. A glittering jewel. Something he could not resist keeping for himself. It won’t be long before it starts to change him. Warping his body, enhancing his mind. Turning him into something a lot more than a mere man. It will also place a mark on him. There is someone else out here who used the technology before. An event that sparked that ancient war, burning cities and destroying worlds. They want to keep this technology for themselves, and will start another war to do it. Eli Massen will have to become a god to survive.
I grew up in Africa, with a background in Cultural Anthropology and archaeology. Along with a side of police. My main focus is on creating a rich, diverse universe. Endings are not always good - because that's just life, isn't it? But there might always be a hint of redemption in there somewhere. I admit to being no good at social media. I wouldn't know what to put into a blog, and I don't presume anyone wants to hear my opinion on anything. So I don't tend to be very active either here or other platforms. Hopefully my writing stands for itself. I understand that not everything is for everyone, but do hope people find something worthwhile in what I create. Quality is important, as I think a writer should respect the time their readers have invested in reading their work. So I do make every effort to ensure my work is of the highest standard. I do apologise for the odd typo. Oh, I'm a Brit, so I pronounce aluminium as aluminium, and not aluminium. Sadly, I don't earn a lot from writing (that would be amazing, but unlikely!) so I must work full time. Because of this I don't write as much as I would like. Thank you for visiting, and hope you find your time here worthwhile.
The description and preview held promise for an entertaining story, but the reality left me wanting. Too much of the plot remains nebulous for too long, and couple that vaguely defined worldview with some horrible grammar and no editing and I was left seeking my escape. I managed past the halfway mark, but the continued mostly pointless death and destruction finally drove me out of the book. Nothing I read was entertaining or provided any motivation to read through to the end.
