This is a story of two people finding themselves while the third is a source of strength to them both. I thought the story was good, as the characters themselves were very, very interesting within themselves. Ms. Polaris did an excellent job of setting the foundation of a disrupted Earth and complete characters and helped me envision the uninhabitable Earth as she saw it.
Mira is a Dominatrix who is recruited by the government to train a diplomat in submission. Roman is a switch who has to show the trainee Jace how to submit to men as well as women. There is one big problem though, Jace hates men. Truly loses his mind when confronted with any kind of testosterone top that with the fact that he is bi-sexual makes him a train wreck waiting to happen. I liked the fact that Jace topped Roman and Mira topped both of them. They had a symbiotic relationship, but it seemed like there was more Master/submissive encounters than Mistress/Master submission, because that was a bigger hurdle, but for that kind of triangle, some of my discontentment came from the cover. I know it may be a small thing to some, but as I was reading, I was thinking......"This doesn't fit what I saw on the cover."
I like the flawed characters, their pain, their issues, but for the author to give so much detail in the beginning, that the ending was lacking and I was left wanting. The story could have benefitted from one more chapter, or an epilogue, or the intro into a second book would have completed the story for me. This was my first read by Ms. Polaris, but it will not be my last.
