The Perfect Creation

Rate this book
Science can create many things, but only a troublemaking Mardu can introduce Erin to the wonders of love.

Rafe of Mardu has a problem. He's sent to baby-sit his troublesome older brother, and in the process finds himself kidnapped by a woman too perfect to be real, with the strength of an inhumanly powerful being. To make matters worse, he's mistaken for his old alter-ego, Cheltam a criminal mastermind who actually serves as a cover for Rafe's real work as a lawman.

But Erin, his kidnapper, needs his help, and Rafe is unable to deny the protective instincts, as well as the lust, he feels in her presence. He agrees to help her, posing as Cheltam. And they seal the deal with more than a kiss, in an act that changes Rafe's world forever. When he learns that this special woman is a Creation, an 'abomination' in the eyes of the System and one that is to be terminated on sight, Rafe doesn't just bend the rules, he breaks them. Together, he and Erin will take on the laboratory that created her.

The odds are against them, but if they're successful, Rafe plans on a future with the woman he considers his mate...if only he can convince her that his love is real."

Ms. Harte does it again. This series hooked me in and kept me up a couple of nights. Erin is a genetic freak creation. She's designed in a lab and experimented on. She is created to be a perfect warrior plus a sexy as hell submissive sex slave to boot. What is not to like about Erin?

Rafe certainly falls for Erin when she knocks him unconscious and kidnaps him. It's rather hilarious how the big bad guy thought he could take the little sex kitten so easily only to be flatted onto his ass.

The world Ms. Harte creates here is just the beginning of a pretty interesting one, filled with all sorts of aliens. Well, humanoid aliens. She isn't creating a very robust world, but enough for the reader to fill in the blanks and go with the smexy kinky fun. This book is BDSM lite with a focus on some hot D/s. I love D/s so this one is right up my alley. Plus, with a strong female submissive, it's even hotter for me. This is a lovely little treat which is recommended to sci-fi kinky book lovers.

I liked it, but not enough to read the rest of the series. If this was novel length, I think it could have been better- more character development. I also prefer the MCs to know each other first (at least a little) before they have sex (and of course the BEST they've ever had. Well, just Rafe, because Erin was a virgin. Sigh.)
The formatting left a lot to be desired- one line then space, two lines then space, etc. It was distracting.

THE PERFECT CREATION is the first instalment in Marie Harte’s sci-fi CREATION fantasy, erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s LIFE IN THE VRAIL sci-fi series. This is Rafe and Erin’s story line.

NOTE: THE PERFECT CREATION contains scenes of bondage, spanking, voyeurism and submission that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.\

SOME BACKGROUND: For over a thousand years the ‘creating’ of a carbon –based life formed has been illegal; they are considered an abomination, and the System has ruled they are to be terminated on sight but Blue Rim Labs is ‘creating’ the abominations, behind closed doors in an effort to create the perfect submissive.

Told from third person perspective THE PERFECT CREATION follows Erin, a humanoid, carbon-based ‘creation’ that has undergone artificial maturations and rigorous training and torture. Having escaped her ‘Creator’ along with her ‘siblings’ Ryen and Anin, Erin is hoping for some help to take down Blue Rim Labs, the organization that is abducting transports and prisoners, and using them in illegal experimentation. Enter Rafe of Mardu, a peacemaker, along with his brothers Gar, Catam and Sernal, and the man with whom Erin will fall in love. When Rafe agrees to help Erin in her plans to destroy Blue Rim Labs, there are other organizations and directives working behind the scenes to reclaim our heroine, and that of her sister and brother. What ensues is the building relationship between Rafe and Erin, and the potential fall-out as our couple find themselves facing their mortality as Blue Rim Labs uses outside forces to track down our leading couple.

Rafe of Mardu is a peacemaker but along with his brothers, they are ordered to terminate all Creations on sight but something about Erin draws Rafe like a spider to a web, and it is her ‘submissiveness’ that is the biggest attraction for a man that is more than dominant by nature and DNA. Erin is an independent female but her Creator and Handler have ‘created’ and trained a submissive, and as such Erin easily submits to the man that calls to her heart. As Rafe and Erin struggles to stay one step ahead of the people commissioned to take her in, Rafe knows that Erin is his mate, and he is going to claim her, at any cost.

There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Rafe’s brothers: Bounty Hunter Catam, Ssernal and Gar; Erin’s siblings Ryen and Anin; fellow peacemaker and tracker Dreyk. The requisite evil includes Erin’s Handler Synster, and the Creator Canunn. Ryen and Dreyk’s story is next.

THE PERFECT CREATION is a story of betrayal, discrimination, torture and abuse; a story of family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing, inventive and startling; the romance is erotic and intense; the characters are colorful, energetic and edgy.

After a long string of contemporary or RS books I was in the mood for something different. I had this one already loaded on my Kindle and I had read and enjoyed Marie Harte in the past so I thought this was a good choice. It wasn’t quite what I expected.

I have read very little erotica and that’s I think what this might be considered. It’s certainly the hottest book I’ve read in quite some time. It’s a Scifi romance set in a different world. Our heroine Erin is what’s known as a Creation. She was taken when she was just a zygote and rushed through her growth until she was a fully grown woman after four years. She’s an experiment with DNA from many different types of beings added to hers and she’s been experimented on and tortured and held prisoner and kept a secret her entire relatively short life.

She has a brother and sister who underwent the same thing and they managed to escape. Because Erin is the strongest emotionally, she is the leader and their plan is to destroy the place she was raised and then for the three of them to hide as they would be destroyed if found. The plan includes enlisting the help of Cheltam, a well known criminal and get his help in the destruction. Because she has incredible powers, she renders him unconscious and kidnaps him. The flaw in the plan is his real name is Rafe and he works undercover. He’s actually kind of an elite detective who works to expose crime.

There is an incredible amount of chemistry between the two and they act on it in explicit and very frequent ways. Rafe believes Erin when she tells him her story and is determined to help her and make sure her true identity is kept secret.

There is a lot I really like about this story. I love the connection and chemistry between the two. It’s explosive to say the least. I love how strong and kick ass Erin is. She gets the drop on Rafe a few times as well as others. She is strong and determined. At the same time there is a very strong submissive gene added into her makeup so while strong against Rafe, she’s submissive at the same time. Rafe very much respects her so he never goes over the line.

I also love Rafe. He’s one of four brothers and he’s the most easygoing brother. He’s fully Team Erin right from the beginning and very protective of her.

This is a fairly short story and as such and because it’s erotica, not much space is spent in world building. This is the first book in the series and it felt like quite a bit was missing. I discovered at the end that this is at least the second series set in this world so now I want to go back and read the previous series. In fact I already have on my Kindle.

If you like Scifi romance and if you like very spicy 🌶️, then this is a book you should read. In the genre, this is pretty darn good.

This is a wonderfully hot paranormal sci-fi romance by one of my favorite authors. She wrote it many years ago and has republished it herself. I really enjoyed the world creation and the characters that inhabit it. Erin is an illegal created being. She and her two siblings have escaped her lab and creators and are on the run. Erin is determined to destroy the Blu Rim Labs as the scientists there are sadistic and cruel. Her brother and sister, Ryen and Anin are safe elsewhere while Erin seeks Cheltam who helps those in need for a price and is no friend to the Peacemakers who are after her.

Cheltam is the alter ego of Rafe of Mardu and his brother Gar. Gar is currently holding the position for his brother Rafe. Erin quickly discovers Cheltam-Gar is not willing to listen to her side of the story and she knocks him and his right hand man Dreyk out. While working on escape she runs into Rafe and assumes he's Cheltam and tries to once again knock him out. Rafe quickly catches up to her and we begin our adventurous journey to taking down the scientists and falling in love.

This story fascinated me with it's twists and turns and foreignness of the characters skill sets. I never knew what trick they had up their sleeve to getting out of a tight spot. Rafe is intrigued with how intelligent and strong Erin is. As a team they work well together and he enjoys that. The physical chemistry between the two is off the charts. I can't wait to dig into The brother and sister's stories.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received a free copy in exchange for a review.
I have read many of the authors other books. I haven’t read any of her sci fi romance books. It is usually not a genre I read or am interested in. When I think of sci fi I start thinking of creatures I see in Star Wars. I honestly don’t want to read a story about JarJar or Jaba. But I gave this one a try. I ended up loving it. My only problem was it was too short. I just wasn’t ready for this particular story to end. I didn’t feel like I was reading about aliens. The scenes she created I could definitely picture so they weren’t too extraordinary and complex that I was having trouble imagining the scenes or action. The sex wasn’t too much and didn’t over power the romance or the plot. I enjoyed how the different characters had much different dynamics and we will see more of them in the future books of the series. I can’t wait to read more of Rafe and Erin in other books and see how their story continues and how their lives are intertwined with other characters and their happily ever after.

The Perfect Creation is the first in Marie Harte's sci-fi series Creations. Rafe of Mardu is checking in with his brother when he's kidnapped by a ridiculously strong, stunningly gorgeous woman who thinks he's Cheltam--a criminal mastermind whose persona he used to adopt as a cover for his actual role as a lawman.

Erin is desperate. She's managed to escape her horrifically abusive creators and the lab where she and her siblings were routinely experimented on in the name of "science." She needs Cheltam's help to recover her siblings, rescue the other victims, and destroy the lab to prevent this from continuing to happen.

The Perfect Creation is a fast-paced adventure with Rafe and Erin discovering that their temporary partnership might be the best thing that either of them has ever had. Interesting world-building, an entertaining cast of supporting characters, and plenty of heat make this a page-turning read. I definitely look forward to the rest of Ms Harte's series!

Sci-fi, action, drama, love, and evil getting it's comeuppance

That's what this book is.

I've been a fan of Marie's for a very long time and initially read this book back about the time it first came out. Unfortunately, as sometimes happens, the place I got the book went defunct and I lost access to it.

But it's back with a vengeance and it takes me back to the days of discovering this amazing writer and falling in love with her work. It has all the elements you could want in a sci-fi romance, and it's super sexy too. And I do mean super sexy ... it'll make you melt for sure.

If you like your sexy times more subtle and alluded to ... this isn't the book for you. Ain't nothin subtle about the sexy times in this work. They're smoking freaking hot and not for everyone. Me ... I love it hot.

Worth the time and every penny to read. And bonus if you have KU, it's available there too.

Erin is a humaniod Creation subjected to experimentation by her creator and handler. Tired of the abuse and being witness to other dastardly goings-on, Erin seeks out help from Cheltam, a criminal mastermind. Erin wants to take down the laboratory that created her and needs Cheltam's assistance. Cheltam is the cover Rafe is using to do his actual job as a lawman. Neither one expected the chemistry to bring both to their knees.

This is a wonderful new world created by Marie Harte. The characters are strong and fun. The chemistry between Erin and Rafe. The book is sexy, steamy, and full of suspense. The union of Erin and Rafe leads Rafe to not only bend the rules for Erin but completely obliterate them. When Rafe and Erin come face-to-face with the enemy, only time will tell who wins.

The Perfect Creation is a captivating sci-fi romance. I was drawn in and the characters and plot kept me engaged. Lovers of all things sci-fi with steamy sex scenes will enjoy this book.

Sometimes you read the blurb and some reviews and get totally excited about getting into unknown worlds, insane adventures, supernatural love and panties-wetting chemistry. Then you start to read and it's... too easy.
You get no explanation about the world your getting into, no real background about the characters or getting to know their inner psyche - just some facts, an instant romance and sex. Off course she's a virgin, off course he hasn't felt anything like this before and off course they fall into the typicall alpha male and submissive girl pattern.
Maybe I stopped too soon, maybe there is going to be some build up, maybe they will surprise me... But there's too little time and too many good stories to read, to waste my time. I don't feel any connection with the characters, so. .. well just... bleeeh...

Erin is a genetically engineered "creation" seeking revenge on her captors/creators/abusers. Along the way, she drags Rafe into her mission. Attraction builds and secrets are revealed as the danger catches up to them both. With many people hiding their identity or roles, it is hard to know who to trust.

There is some interesting world building at work here. The beginning is a little confusing as all of the roles and characters are introduced. There are many interconnected people that I am sure will have more significant roles in future installments.

Good story idea but….

This book had a good story idea, and I do realize it was supposed to be a romance, so there would be sex involved…but I prefer my stories where the sex helps move it along vs being the main focus with some story mixed in. This for me would have been a much better book with the sex toned down a bit and just there to enhance and move it along. I do not recommend it unless you just want lots of sex with a story that could have been better with less sex focus.

This series reminds me of Sherrilyn Kenyon's The League: Nemesis Rising series. I don't usually go for this much fantasy, but as I am a big fan of Marie Harte I decided to give it a try. I liked the story-line, but I felt lost because I didn't feel like there was enough background information about the different cultures so that I could keep things straight in my head. I will more than likely read the others in the series so I can see what happens with the other characters.

In a galaxy full of aliens, the Creations may be the most hated and feared of all. Designed as not only the perfect submissive, but also a warrior, Erin's strength of character starts to shine through when she realizes that she can be both without suppressing either. And putting Rafe on his backside just shows how even the most confident can be outmatched. This is a shorter story to get the series started but full of sexy and sweet moments.

A good follow on from LIFE IN THE VRAIL which is where we first meet Rafe.
Still in the same world but going in a slightly different way character wise but interlinked with characters from Vrail series.
I've read these before many years ago and own the original versions. But as the author is re-releasing them and in Kindle Unlimited I decided to read them again.
I will be reading the rest through Kindle Unlimited.

I've never been a fan of alien stories. Or at least so I thought. However, I am a fan of Marie Harte, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! This book is excellent in not only the romance of it, but the drama and action as well. I will for sure be looking forward to more. It's a definite must read!

This was a well-written, entertaining book. Erin has secrets and is on the run. She kidnaps Rafe, who is working undercover. Sparks fly between them and they start to wonder if there might be something real between them. The book was fast-paced and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

The immediate heat and attraction between Erin and Rafe is intoxicating and pulled me in for more. Erin really is the perfect woman for Rafe, strong of mind and body but knows when to give up control and Rafe has the perfect balance of protectiveness and with hot dominant. Great start to a new collection that I will definitely complete.

DNF...if you want to laugh at some of the worst porn or pornie as I call it. Then read this mis-mash of words. I'm sure its written by a male, cause no woman would be turned on by what I read, glad it was free otherwise I'd be kicking myself for spending hard earned money on garbage.
