Beau Dixon. The oldest Dixon boy. The scary one with the bad temper. Savannah, his angel, is the only one who can tame his beast. She's his entire world and now with Madison back, he's losing everything that matters.
This is the Brewed Book I've been waiting for. Beau is the Dixon brother whose story I wanted the most to see if his image could be rehabbed in my mind. Sure, he loves Savannah and his kids but his temper is ugly. I was hoping his side would show me a different man. It really didn't but it did show me how the town, his classmates, and even his family judged him and assumed the worst without ever asking him for his side. That did create some sympathy. Still, he was hard to like as a boy and young man. If he hadn't accepted Savannah's ultimatum, I doubt I would have ever liked him. He simultaneously thought the worst of himself and yet accepted no responsibility for his bad actions. But once he accepted his temper and conquered it, I loved the bear. So, when his world crashed, I was firmly in his corner. I found myself frustrated with perfect Savannah who could so easily discard 10 years of a perfect marriage. Actions speak louder than 'no words'. Was he wrong for keeping secrets? I'm not sure. I believe if you made a mistake, it means nothing, will never happen again and is only going to hurt innocent people, then you don't need to purge your guilt by dumping it on the other person. Madison and Beau should have boxed it up and let it go. Never happened. Guilt can be selfish and in this case, it was. However, if they hadn't made all of their mistakes, there would have been 2 fewer books in the Brewed series, so I will let this point go and say he was wrong. Even so, she owed it to him, the kids, and herself to talk to him. Her handling of the mess seemed to make everything worse and add to her own pain and seemed out of character. Then to have Beau put hands on Madison and verbally attack Emberly had him acting out of character. I think the author did both characters wrong. I know it sounds as if I didn't like the book but I did. I grew to love Beau. I love him and Savannah and their family. I love their life, the small town, and the Dixon family. Even when they drive me crazy. This book frustrated me the most and yet, it was my favorite.
