Because of his encouragement to those in ministry, Dr. Wiersbe is often referred to as 'the pastor's pastor.' Dr. Wiersbe has written over 150 books, including the popular BE series of commentaries on every book of the Bible, which has sold more than four million copies. The author explores the last half of the book of Acts and Paul's ministry, encouraging readers to be daring.

Not one of my favorite Wiersbe studies, but a good solid commentary on the second half of the book of Acts. I especially appreciated Wiersbe's ability to connect the events of Acts with the Paul's letters and his relationship with the converts that he made while on his journeys.

Acts is all about Paul's travel and ministry as described by Luke. Warren Wiersbe takes us on the journey and explains very clearly much of the detail which otherwise I would have missed or misunderstood. An excellent commentary and learning resource.

Warren Wiersbe divided his commentary on Acts into two volumes. The first is Be Dynamic (Acts 1-12): Experience the Power of God’s People The second is Be Daring (Acts 13-28): Put Your Faith Where the Action Is.
Wiersbe has commented on books longer than 28 chapters in one volume before. But Acts is a pivotal book between the OT, gospels, and the rest of the NT. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ changed a lot of things, and the early disciples were still figuring out the implications. But this was also probably the biggest expanse of the church in history.
Serious persecution also dogged followers of the Way, as Paul referred to it. Thus Wiersbe’s title to Be Daring fits.
The apostle Paul is the focus of these latter chapters of Acts: his standing as a loyal Pharisee and his persecution of the church, his miraculous conversion, his three missionary journeys, his arrest and imprisonment.
Acts doesn’t mention any of the apostles writing epistles, except the joint one in Acts 15. But we have clues from the epistles that many of them were written during this time period.
The book of Acts ends somewhat abruptly, with Paul in prison. Dr. Wiersbe shares from what we know of history what happened during the rest of Paul’s life: he was released from prison, ministered a few more years, was arrested again, and was eventually beheaded. Of course, at the time Luke was writing, they did not know how long Paul would be in prison. Luke probably figured it was a good a time as any to stop where he was and send this long letter to Theophilus. But Luke was also under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and perhaps the Spirit’s leading Luke to stop where he did was an indication that the transitional phase was over and the church was established and on its way to continued growth til Christ returns.

Luke did not write his book simply to record ancient history. He wrote to encourage the church in every age to be faithful to the Lord and carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. “What was begun with so much heroism ought to be continued with ardent zeal,” said Charles Spurgeon, “since we are assured that the same Lord is mighty still to carry on His heavenly designs” (p. 174).

I don't know how you can pick this book up and not immediately fall in love with it. Unless you truly don't know what you are getting yourself into and are expecting some eisegesis with a feel good Christianese phrase to give you a motivational message.
This book is awesome. An amazing explanation and exploration of what is happening in the second half of acts, with Paul's travels, his messages, and all the people he meets. Wiersbe does a great job of pointing out illustrations and examples and definitely gives you enough to chew on intellectually and spiritually.

I always love Wiersbe’s commentaries. They are clear, concise, easy to read and full of useful information. They would be great for sermons. Sometimes they don’t go deep enough and Be Daring is no exception. You won’t find the greatest depths of the riches of God’s Word in this commentary, but it will bless the socks off you all the same.

How encouraging the early church is. How bold and on fire they were for the Lord! Paul’s example of being totally and completely sustained by the Lord is encouraging and challenging as you watch how his life played out and the opposition he faced. Jesus was his everything and he would have the whole world know. May that be true of me.

Love this series and one of only two that I use daily in my studies. He follows the Word of God without adding to it or subtracting from it. It is very easy to read and understand, however it does have a lot of information. I highly recommend and Bible studier to check this series out.

As we live through this pandemic, I sense that the Lord is building and preparing His church for the new season. This book just came so alive for me, because I see so many similarities from what God was doing then and what He is doing now.

Faith in Life's Storms
This is a wonderfully written lesson on the faith of Paul. It inspired me to strengthen my faith and my witness to Jesus Christ as my saviour. We can't all be Paul but we can follow his examples of faith through prayer.

I really think this commentary helped me understand and appreciate Paul more than I had previously. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read it along with my Bible.
