Player. Casanova. Heartbreaker.
I've heard it all. But the truth is, I'm the king of wanting what I can't have.
Jane is a beacon of light I didn't expect to find. Her innocence and joy call to my dark soul.
But she's off-limits, my best friend's kid sister. And I'm a damaged jerk with enough baggage to fill a jet plane.
All it took was one taste for my resolve to stay away to crumble. Now I can't get her out of my head, out of my mangled heart.
If her brother finds out about us, he might kill me. If Jane finds out about my past, she'll never speak to me again.
This love is a disaster waiting to happen, and yet, I can't help going back for more.

Ok first let me just say WOW. I picked this up thinking it was going to be a simple best friends sibling story. And honestly it's been a while since I read the book before this one so it took me a minute to remember some of the little bread crumbs from that book. But once I got into it, it all came flooding back.

Then as we saw things from Andy and Jane's point of view I felt like I was part of the inside joke. Throw in the background story and I was so invested in these guys getting together. Even more so as everything Andy had been through came to light.

Because as broken as Andy was once he decided to pursue Jane he gave the best boyfriend. Like serious #BoyfriendGoals. And watching how hard he worked to be everything he felt Jane deserved while waiting for the other shoe to drop had me sitting on the edge of my chair.

I couldn't put the book down. It had so much sweetness and hotness and drama and I had to know what was going to happen next and how certain things were going to play out or come to light. The story and characters were awesome and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I loved this book just as much as the first! We met both Jane and Andreas in the first instalment in the series, and it was clear that these two crazy kids were going to end up together. This book, like the first, has a touch of angst, particularly where it comes to both Jane and Andreas’s family lives.
Just like with the first book, the author introduces a sport/activity that you don’t typically see a lot of in romance novels. Jane is thrust into the world of roller derby, and quite a bit of the book follows her exploration into the sport. I loved these parts of the story, including the friendships she makes, and how she finds herself and what she wants to do (when all her mother wants her to do is focus on the debutante ball coming up. Rich people, LOL)
All in all, I loved this book, and I can’t wait to read Danny’s love story!

I think I liked this one more than the first book.
This one got ages gap and best friends sister romance.
The chemistry and those cheesy dialogues, were just what I needed. This was a feeling good book with almost no plot.
First of all the starting... Jane is a baddie from inside I knew that from the start 😂
They were so cute together. Jane's character development was elite!!! I loved how she stood up from herself more rather than be squished by her cruel mum (or the dragon)😂.
The forbidden type of vibes were all over the first 50% and I ATE THAT SHIT. The fact both of them had their sports going on was also very good.
Andreas went thru the childhood trauma of his step mum and then how his father treated him as soon as he changed his major 😭 Jane needs to give him a bear hug for an eternity now. They both completed each other ❤️‍🩹
Troy bring Troy 😂😂 loved his possessive brother side.

Good but not as good as book 1. Didn’t like how Jane tricked Andreas to lose her virginity with him. And although I enjoyed their moments together I found some of their dialogues just too cheesy.

The title suits him perfectly!

My heart broke reading pieces of Andreas' story. He acts like a player, sounds like a player, and looks mighty fine. All of this is on the outside. On the inside he's hurting. Home's supposed to be a safe and loving environment for a child, but what he got was just the opposite. And it's on going.

He doesn't feel worthy of Jane. She's his best friend's little sister. Secretly he's into her, as she is into him. For three years she has been fighting off the feelings, being a good girl. She's now eighteen and she's putting herself first. She's going after what she wants.
She was so sweetly determined. I loved her character.

Heart Breaker wears emotions. That alone pulled me in. And the beautiful, gut-wrenching and captivating writing style sealed the deal.

When you live for the story and you pay no attention to your surroundings...

Such a great love story! A tale of forbidden love and undeniable attraction. The rough family life Andreas has had to endure growing up, and the emotional warfare his awful stepmother used on him makes his warped view of love so understandable. I absolutely love having a front row seat to watch Jane leave her meek people-pleasing nature behind and learn to embrace what she knows her heart wants!
The book itself was incredible, emotional, and heart wrenching, but it was littered with typographical errors and dropped words, and it really got on my nerves. With that said, I recommend this book to everyone! Seriously, go read it NOW! Jane and Andreas will make you swoon!

I really love the brothers best friend trope, but this one just felt so underwhelming to me. I didn't really like how the prologue was done, how Jane gave up her virginity to Andreas when he was so drunk he didn't even know who she was.. just left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't fully connect with the characters after that, even though I did really like Andreas, I just wished that Jane was a bit more mature.

Maybe it's the funk I've been in, but this just wasn't my favorite.

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**

Andreas and Jane! Two opposites in every way but what you see on the outside doesn’t always match what’s within!

Jane and Andreas’ story was a very emotional one but also one full of hope and redemption! What I thought I knew about each character turned out to be false and I was taken by surprise with just how much I loved Andy! I was so unsure of him but this story showed me that you can not take everything at face value! Andy is a complicated soul but he for Jane he was worth the fight!

Loved the chemistry between these two and the laugh out loud moments with these amazing characters!

This was such a fab story!

”Jane has always been shy and soft-spoken. This new side of her is terrifying and exciting at the same time.”

Andreas first met his best friend’s younger sister, Jane, when she was just 15 and he was a freshman at college. She was off-limits for so many reasons. By the time she’s 18, he’s a seasoned player with the opposite sex. There’s a reason he’s like that – mainly because he’s got a lot of emotional baggage from his past. Jane, herself, has a lot to deal with from an overbearing mother and a neglectful father. When one night of reckless behaviour has her panicking about life-changing consequences, Andreas sees red and a shocking truth emerges that completely messes with his head, but sees him spurring into action. The guy who thinks he’s incapable of love finds himself wanting nothing more than to protect and care for a sweet, good girl who’s finally decided to live a little.

”I feel a pang in my chest like a broken piece clicked back into place. I can’t breathe for a moment, caught between being scared and elated.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Andreas, for all his playboy ways, has a big heart. He’s a good guy and far from cocky. My heart broke for all that he went through as a teenager but I loved his devotion to his younger brother. I loved how he stepped up for Jane, and anyone with eyes could see that he was falling hard for her. Jane was a fabulous young woman. I was cheering her on from the start as she came into her own, whilst rebelling against her awful mother. She was loving and sweet, yet wasn’t prepared to put up with any nonsense. Both of them were such strong people – they both faced challenges that they more than overcame – and they were even stronger as a couple, knowing they had each other’s backs. I loved the whole arc of the story and the way the author brought everything to a very satisfying and credible conclusion. Loved it!

Such a great read! It's a brother's best friend, Casanova-turned-tender-lover romance. There is an age gap: the heroine is senior in high school, the hero - junior at college. The story is so warm, fuzzy feels inducing and despite the name of the book, no hearts were broken during the read, or in other words there is no third act break up here! 🎉🎉🎉

Andreas is considered a player, but no one actually sees below the surface, and he doesn't volunteer the demons that plague him, instead he hides in his playboy image & all the hookups. My heart truly broke for him, as his home life was something else which has never slowed down. Jane is a girl who has had a thing for him, and they hook up one night, but he's so drunk that he doesn't remember anything about it. Of course things are complicated since she's his best friend's little sister, and bro code is a big deal & all but even more so, he doesn't feel worthy of someone like her. Jane has always been the good girl who doesn't make waves because of her over controlling mother, but now that she's 18 years old she's going after Andreas instead of doing what others expect her to do. Heart Breaker was a great story with a lot of angst to make this reader more emotional than normal. Michelle Hercules is so talented, and so addictive that once I started this story, I couldn't put it down again until every last page was finished. Now it's your turn to experience all of this goodness as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

2.5 rounded down.

The first 100 pages of this book was 4 stars worthy. The last 200 pages… 2 stars. So I ended up in the middle-ish.

I liked the tension of the first 100 pages. I enjoyed their Will-they-won’t-they. But they got together WAY too soon and then… it felt like the whole rest of the book was boring. 🥱 I skimmed for dialogue. The subplots were all super basic and most of them dealt with their parents being terrible. Like, even the roller derby got maybe 10 total pages of screen time which was a downright SHAME.

So yeah, I was not super impressed with this overall. But I do like MH’s writing. It’s chill and easy. I just think this particular book was not paced well. I would have liked 100 more pages of tension before the inevitable relationship. Especially because even though they were secretly in love before the book began, it felt almost like insta-love because of how fast they got together.

I don’t think I’ll read more of this particular series of hers. I don’t care much about Danny’s story.

Andreas yes he is the Baker & FANTASTIC brother, friend & boyfriend to Jane. Andreas shares a secret to Jane and it heart breaking and she becomes his "lady in shinning armor". The brother love between him & Lorenzo is just strong & perfect.

Jane is such a strong heroine and I NEVER expected her to be part of a roller derby team !! She just wanted to rebel against her devil mother and she did. She kickass at it and she a loyal friend & Girlfriend. I wish she was my friend and it was great to see her with Charlie & her brother Troy again.

Everyone together have such great banter & they truely will defend each other against anybody that gets in their way especially, the villian of the story a evil Step-mother...

Another great one but this one is my fav. Sorry Charlie & Troy🤣

Heart Breaker is the second book in Michelle Hercules Rebels of Rushmore series, which follows Jane - Troy’s little sister and Andreas - the best friend. In Heart Stopper we meet both Jane and Andreas, and the storyline in Heart Breaker slightly crosses over in the beginning. I definitely recommend reading the first book, even though you could almost read this as a stand-alone.

My biggest issue that I had with this story is the difference in character of who Andreas was in Heart Stopper to Heart Breaker, even thought he was a side character in the first book he doesn’t entirely seem to match that person we were shown. In this story though, his back story comes out more with his own personal and family issues, which then make sense of who’s his character really is.

I do like that Jane’s more determined and ready to take control of her life, without doing what everyone tells her - definitely true to character here as this was shown in the first book.

The story has interchangeable POV’s between the two MC’s Jane and Andreas, with a flashback moment of when they first met that was early enough in the story that you could better connect with how the attraction started.

Overall it was a good story with a developing and fast burn romance.

4*

This was a lovely story with fun characters. Everyone's back story was interesting as well. I think I also prefered this one to book one.

Only thing is that the ebook was filled with typos. They didn't bring me out of the story or anything but it was annoying the amount of errors I found through the entire book.

I'm now considered pre-ordering book 3.

Absolutely a must read, love Michelle's books, and this one was just as addictive as the rest, loved Andreas and definitely loved the change in Jane. Some of the adults in this book definitely could use a clue, but this was definitely heart melting.

usually i love the girl-falls-first-guy-falls-harder but I HATE the pretend-to-be-someone-else-so-they-with-have-sex-with-me trope because there is no coming back from that when the character finds out and it’s a bit psycho the guy forgave her WAYYYY too fast

I Loved This Book So Much!

What an awesome story. I love brother’s best friend love stories, but this was way more than that. It was two lost souls, searching for something right in front of them.

The story flowed amazingly really entertaining you with its in depth awesomeness. I fell in love with Andy and Jane. They were so perfect for each other.

Both Jane and Andy have their own troubles they are going through, realizing they are meant for each other, they give it a cautious go! However the moment they realize together they are stronger, better and so meant for each other is a pivotal moment in the story.

I couldn’t put this book down. I didn’t want it to end. And though every great story eventually has to end, the ending to this one was perfection. This was my third Michelle Hercules book and it won’t be my last! An absolute must read!

tw:

it’s been so long since a book has kept me hooked that i’ll forgo sleep just to finish it — but for Heart Breaker it was totally worth it. i adored so much about this book, but Andreas and Jane were absolutely my favorite part. they were both such strong characters in their own right, and together they were such a joy to read. they were exactly what the other needed at just the right time and watching them support each other and grow together was so refreshing to read.

there’s quite a bit of drama — and pain — in each of their pasts (and present), mainly when it comes to their families, and Hercules did a great job of balancing that in order to create a heart-breaking and compelling plot, but never letting it overshadow the focus on their romance. there wasn’t as much angst here as i expected out of a best-friend’s-sister, forbidden-relationship type of set-up, but it was actually such a breath of fresh air to see this trope tackled a bit differently. and i have to say, it worked wonders.

In Heart Stopper I thought Andreas was a grade A AHOLE but man I was wrong... screw Jane, pick me!!

I loved this book and poor broken Andreas. He became a product of abuse at an early age which led to him becoming the manhole of campus but in reality he was just broken and needed help finding his worth and a chance to heal.

Cue Jane his best friends angelic sister, or so he thought. Another broken soul who has been abused by her mother and caged unknowingly by her brother. She saw right through Andreas 's walls and found the sweet souled person within and showed him he was worthy of love.

This book is a full redemption arc for Andreas, by the time I was 30% in I was team A and understood his Ahole ways from the previous book. I loved how he became a rounded character, who's internal monologue added great depth and solidified him as a person not just words on a page. Jane was a suprise from that kiss 3 years ago to proving how strong she really is. She grew as a character and became a strong, independent and reliable young woman not the quiet, meek girl you thought she was.

This is a fantastic read!!!

Ehhh... Jestem totalnie zawiedziona.

DNF @ 50%. Not connecting with either character and definitely not vibing with a lot of the choices being made from the FMC. Tricking her brother’s best friend into sleeping with her by hiding her identity? No thanks. Also, she is in high school and he is in college and the vibes are just not there for me. No.

Jane is the little sister of his best friend, and the girl he cares for just a little too much. She is beautiful, smart, tempting and keeps him on his toes, but there is no way he can ever have her, she is forbidden. But that doesn't stop the want or desire to have her. He knows that he is no good for her, his life is messy and unpredictable, his heart battered, and his lifestyle doesn't allow for relationships. But that doesn't stop his heart from pushing him in her direction...

What you find waiting amongst the pages of Heart Breaker is bound to touch the recesses of your heart, and leave you forever moved. It's words will grab ahold of your heart and not let go, and it's characters will be stuck in your mind long after the last page is turned. These two wounded souls will wander onto the page and completely captivate you with the heart-wreching story they have to tell. Both come from homes where love is an after thought and expectations are always high and impossible to live up to. Their parents have dictated so much of their young lives that they have never really had the chance to make their own decisions and have their own experiences. Until now that is!

They know that taking their friendship to a different level is bound to cause an uproar, and be difficult to hold onto, but what they feel for one another can't be ignored. What they see in one another's eyes is the same hurt, the same abandonment, and the same unwavering love. Watching them chart this new territory was tough on the ticker at times, but also quite healing too. To see them find someone who takes away their pain and replaces it with genuine care and love made all the hurt worth it. It was a beautiful love story with many ups and downs, and I loved every single second of it! If you like dramatic and heart-squeezing tales then I know without a doubt that you will love this one, it's wonderfully penned words are destined to keep you captivated from beginning to end!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Heart Breaker is a romance story of older brother's best friend. This can be read as a standalone.

Jane first meets Andreas when she is 15 when he comes over for dinner. Andreas is the playboy best friend of Jane's brother, Troy (who you meet in book 1 of this series). When the 2 end up alone, they share a passionate kiss... from there, it is over for Jane! :) Now 18 and having been secretly "in love" with Andreas (aka Andy) all this time... she feels it is time to try to move on. In order to do this, one last gift, Jane decides to seduce him at a Halloween party while in costume (with luck, Andy doesn't recognize her especially since he was wasted).

As the story progresses, we find out that since that first kiss, Andy too has been "crushing" on Jane! She is beautiful, smart and keeps him on his toes, but he thought there was no way he can ever have her, since she was off limits.

The 2 end up together! Yay. Together they build each other up... with finding out that their home lives pretty much sucks and have parents who set high expectations for them and treat them horribly. Your heart breaks for what they go thru with their parents. They fight for, support & stand by each other through it all.

This story was cute, fun and steamy. It had me hooked from the very beginning, keeping me engrossed until the very end. The ONLY negative is how it ended!! I wanted to know more about what happens next with them two and also with Andy's goals of being a baker!? The whole story of him fighting with his dad about his future and he fights to land a dream internship... We dont find out what happens?! Come on! lol :) Other than that... everything else was beautiful! Would def recommend the story.

Jane has been dealing with some crap. Her mom is controlling her life. Her dad’s been mostly missing from her life. And she’s had the biggest crush on her older brother’s best friend, Andy, forever. She wants to put herself out there. Seize the moment. She’s decides that her senior year is going to be her break out year. She’s going to get into the college SHE wants to get in to - despite her parents wishes. She going to try out for that roller derby team. And she’s going to sleep with Andy whether he realizes it or not. She is seizing control.

Andy has been feeling off lately. There’s been ongoing sh*t at home. And then there’s these big feelings he’s been struggling with. It’s been getting more and more difficult to escape his feelings for his best friend’s younger sister, Jane and he’s finally coming to realize that it may be time to make his move. If only he can get her brother to no kill him… His past reputation as a man wh*re is definitely not working in his favor.

I really liked this story. Jane was a great character who was finally busting out of her shell and seizing control of both her life and her future. Andy is super sweet, but kind of the typical “I’m not good enough for her” hero, but it doesn’t make the story any less enjoyable. The storyline kept me interested until the end, the smexy times were hot, and the side characters were well developed and enjoyable as well. This is a new author for me and so far I’ve really enjoyed both the books in the series and really can’t wait until the next one comes out!
