Yikes! This was amateurishly written, like something a high school student in a college prep class would compose. The plot had some twists and turns but I couldn't get over the over-use of the words "girfriends" and "you go girl."

I thought I would enjoy this one piece of chick lit because it's also a mystery, but this book's cheesiness way overpowered its mystery and suspense. To begin with, it wasn't well-written and the characters were all shallow and one-minded; I actually found myself hating all of them. The mystery wasn't very intriguing; despite the characters always going on about the danger of the situations in which they found themselves, I never felt like any of them were ever really at risk. And apparently, the authors of this book have been out of touch with society for a while. The two main characters had the most unrealistic conversations, and used cheesy phrases like "you're on," and "girlfriend" every other sentence. If this book had been well-written and more realistic, I might have actually liked it. Reading it wasn't completely unbearable, but I won't read any more books from either of these authors.

I was quite disappointed in the book. From the summary on the back cover, it sounded like it would be an enjoyable easy read. It's considered a mystery, but the two main characters didn't really do much with the mystery. They tended to just stumble on some information here or there, which can be okay for a plot. However, once I completed the book, I felt like the authors had just thrown together every scenario they could think of to put together a mystery. I never felt like I was reading a mystery book as the plot focused more on the two ladies going to bars and a strip club. This would fall under the category of "read if nothing else is available" in my mind. Meaning it readable, but not worth going out of your way to read.

This was a very fast read, I read it cover to cover on a Monday afternoon. However, that beng said, I did not enjoy this book at all. Generally I like to read murder mysteries and I don't mind if they are lighthearted, they don't have to be all serious all the time. I didn't like the way this book didn't flow. Each chapter was written in the first person from alternating perspectives of the main characters and I often found it hard to remember which character was speaking. I didn't find that I had sympathy for the characters and I found them irritating at best and a bit stupid at worst. There is an especially weird part where one of the girls gets a bit strange thinking she's been poisoned. The character's reaction is way over the top and just makes you think this girl is thick-headed.

I got a chapter or two in and realized this wasn't really my cup of tea. Let's just say the "club" the two ladies attend to is a male strip club. The book was written by two women--and it alternates between the POV of two best friends--each written by and one author (with additional collaboration to smooth the edges). I like the idea of two friends working together to write a book, but this isn't one I'd recommend.

I loved that this story was told by two somewhat different best friends. It made the slight differences in opinion and what not amusing. I expected for it to be easier to guess, the killer's identity than what it really was. I had someone pegged, but I was completely wrong. I look forward to reading more from these authors.

Yikes, this book is terrible. I brought it camping because I wanted something trashy and fun. It was trashy, but that’s about it.
The authors’ treatment of the trans character is absolutely horrid. The drink orders reek of when everyone was still trying to cash in on the Sex and the City aesthetic. The dialog is vapid. It’s cliché after cliché.
Don’t do it.

Don't bother reading this book. It drew me in at the library with its flashy cover, but it is very poorly written. While easy to read, it's like a bad CSI episode. Save your time watching the grass grow.

The story was just ok: a dead stripper, a dead bookstore owner, a transexual and a pair of reunited friends running around Miami like Thelma and Louise. I stuck with it because it was a very quick read and one down on my 2011 goal.

Good for a beach read if you're okay with blatant transphobia. Poorly written and easy to guess the boring and problematic ending. I read it quickly in about 2 days. It wasn't the worst thing I've read but I can see why I bought it on clearance for $4.
