Probability's Edge by Alistair Potter is an entertaining and quick action-packed read. It had a unique plot line,  well-developed characters, great action sequences, delicious detailing and world-building and great writing - so overall, it made for a complete package! I was sucked into the plot from the beginning and enjoyed it right till the end.

This is the second book I'm reading by author Potter and I must say that after this book, I can't wait to read more of his amazing works. The genre lovers would greatly appreciate his works, so I recommend this book, as well as his others to all hardcore science-fiction fans.

Alistair Potter creates a wonderful sci fi moral conundrum in Probability’s Edge! When Karla and the rest of the crew of the Eagle crash on a technologically backwards planet, they’re left with a choice: save their crew or save the people of the planet from certain disaster. Not only is this book realistic and written to flow well (which is really hard to do), I absolutely loved Potter’s deep moral question and answer to that question. If you love sci fi with depth, this one’s for you!

The crew of the trading ship Eagle is grateful to have survived the crash landing on what seems to be a rather backward planet - pilot Karla has pulled off an almost impossible feat of flying. The local inhabitants however are not so happy to have their market destroyed by the massive spaceship which now sits somewhat incongruously in the centre of their town square, surrounded by smoking debris. From this inauspicious beginning Probability’s Edge by Alistair Potter weaves an entrancing narrative which introduces a beguiling planet and a cast of unforgettable characters. Almost as soon as the crew has made peace with the local inhabitants and begun to make repairs to their damaged ship, their hosts come under attack by forces using technology far in advance of what the planet’s current development would seem feasible. The population is at a loss as to how to respond, and the crew of the Eagle, much against strict interplanetary regulations, find themselves drawn into the conflict. But can they keep the secrets of their advanced technology while helping their less advanced hosts? Can they stay on the right side of the regulations and still prevail against an enemy which is achieving inexplicable advances in military mechanisation.

Probability’s Edge is classic science fiction. Alistair Potter has created a carefully crafted narrative peopled by sound, well-drawn characters which will live in the memory long after the last page of this book is closed. The narrative moves along at a brisk pace but allows the reader enough time to get to know the people and places of the story. You will find much to enjoy in Probability’s Edge - Mr Potter is a skilled wordsmith and consummate storyteller. Sci-fi fans will be enthralled by this latest tale. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and do not hesitate to recommend it.
