An inspirational volume of blessings by a beloved writer. These are poems and messages filled with hope and guidance, encouraging readers to develop kindly virtues and to appreciate what they have. Accompanied by lovely four color watercolors, this is a volume to treasure.
These were nice enough poems--a bit fluffy in substance and perhaps a bit juvenile in structure, but I enjoyed most of them, and the artwork by Jack Brouwer is beautiful. I did not like the poem "Blessings in Disguise," which suggests that disabled people are sent to earth in order to remind us that there will be no disability in heaven and that they exist to teach us how to be faithful and loving. That's bad theology and a harmful view of disabled people. There is a bit of "everything will turn out all right" in most of the poems, but "Blessings in Disguise" aside, they're pretty harmless.
