Ella and Isaiah's story really touched me! The Old West is so different than today, but then again in some ways, there are some of the same problems. Ella is an abused daughter - not unfamiliar in the Old West, I'm sure. When Texas Ranger, Isaiah Hayes, runs after a horse thief (his own horse, I might add!), he comes upon Ella being abused by her father and immediately removes her from the situation by taking her from "the home" - I use the term loosely because the home is really a shack that isn't much! Isaiah makes a rash decision to keep Ella with him and therein begins the story. Ella has never been around many people, let alone men, and I found her innocence and shyness very sweet and touching. She's been abused by her father (whom she still loves for some reason) so long that she doesn't even know how to accept kindness - views it as suspicious - and yet, she can barely speak or whisper to a person. This is not unlike women & children today who are abused. The care that Isaiah uses with her is so tender and caring that I fell in love with him myself! He's in the middle of a big Texas Ranger case that is dangerous but he manages to fit Ella into all of that and make her secure. I really enjoyed this story and I think anyone will that reads it! The characters were great! I love stories set in the Old West - my favorite historical period! I received this book from the publisher without needing to review. These opinions are my own.
Oh my, this was such a good book! When his own horse is stolen, Texas Ranger Isaiah find the thief hitting his own daughter. Knowing that he can't leave here there, he makes a deal with her Father so he can take her with him. They get married that day so that he can protect her. But Ella is scared of him and nervous after growing up with an abusive father. Isaiah is such a sweet guy, even if his plans aren't always the most thought-out. He's so patient and gentle with Ella. I enjoyed seeing Ella get used to being around a good man and how they both felt committed to making their marriage work even though they didn't know each other at first. This is a clean, sweet romance and so cute! It is definitely my favourite so far in the series. The story felt deeper than others and who doesn't love an honorable Texas Ranger. Isaiah is Nate's brother from Lawfully Taken. But you can read the books in any order.
Lawfully Promised has all the ingredients for a good western romance: handsome ranger, lovely young female in a bad situation, horses, bad guys, a mystery or two, and shoot outs. Elle E. Kay adds a faith element to make an even more worthwhile read. I liked both main characters. They are trying to make the best out of their situation. The plot moves at a very quick pace. I would recommend this to clean western romance readers and Christian romance readers. I was given a copy of the book. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.

Having said that I can happily report that within the confines of this short novella, author Elle E. Kay provides a rich and satisfyingly complex western romance complete with kidnapping, hangings, shootouts, detective work, and strong moral values. One couldn't ask for more!
This was a fun read! I really enjoyed the Characters especially Ella, she was scared of men and shy. Ella proved she was so much more. This story kept me smiling until the end. I loved the shoot outs and the good old west bad guys. Would make a great movie!
Sweet romance that will appeal to the Christian reading audience. I enjoyed the characters and and the development of the romance as each worked out how th other showed their love.
Texas Ranger marries Ella to get her away from her father's abuse. Ella had never seen him before but it was that of her father would be tried for stealing his horse. - Babs
This was a delightful story! The only thing I didn’t like was that it ended too soon! The narrator did a fine job and I though her character voices were quite insightful! From rough and rowdy cowboys to shy and demure Ella, there was a lot of variety and personality in each!
