Audiobook on compact disc. Recorded Books presents Pinsleur Language Japanese - The Short Course. Speak Japanese in eight easy lessons; totally audio. Includes 5 CDs in individual protective sleeves with artwork in clamshell case.
Lives up to its name as a short course. It's basic enough to get tourists where they need to go but not enough to carry a long conversation with someone. Goes with formal and standard broadcast Japanese, so you'd be fluent in Tokyo but not the countryside. Baby steps to fluency is still useful.
Use it if you need a review for the general flow of the language. Or if you want a sneak peak of the program before hopping into the bigger comprehensive Japanese one they have. I haven't seen it or tried it myself, but I would be interested in knowing how well it covers harder words like legal terms, medical words, etc.
