I have heard quite a lot about this manga/anime, and decided to check it out.

I am not sure if I will continue, while I did like the first volume, it was also still a sports manga and I was bored at times. So far I have only found a handful of sports manga or anime that I truly liked and enjoyed fully or at least most of it.

What also annoyed me was the exaggeration of everything, the way that nothing seems to match. I am not sure how to explain correctly, but really, the fact that someone just cycles 90 km in one day without breaking a sweat, oh and climbs a steep hill that everyone else has trouble with, even professionals, it just seems off and weird. I know it is fiction, but it just stood out like a sore thumb. Like they were trying to keep things real, but then thought to insert something like this.

I also didn't particularly like the MC. He acts like I have seen countless of boys act. OMG I love manga/anime, now I am weird? And everyone is also acting like he is a pervert. *rolls eyes*

I did like his determination, not only for the whole Akiba stuff, but also for the anime club that he was trying to resurrect.

The other character we have, the guy who eats, sleeps, breathes bicycles and will do anything to win? I just found him annoying for most. Though he did bring some balance in the story with our MC on one part who is a giant otaku, and who just bicycles for fun, and him on the other part working his butt off and going to competitions.

But it had quite a nice art style. Though at times it looked a bit silly.

I may check out the next volume to see who won, though I can already guess. It is your typical sports manga, it is also yet another thing that annoys me at times.

This comic is a turning point in my sports career. When I read this, I rarelly didnt know what road racer was and didnt had any intrest in it, I was intrested in bikes not a bicycle, but now I have a bike which I use it for excersise and maintaing my health which I apreciate his commic to make me allow to do this.

Very solid entry. Protagonist leaves much to be desired but I am sure he'll grow on me given how I am already a fan of his infectious effervescence.

Book made me care about cycling yo! Wth?! I never saw cycling being that intense.

This is a fun little manga about a nerd (otaku) who hates jocks -thinks they are mean, scary and have no respect for others unlike them. Now this volume he is looking forward to joining the anime club and is on the search for more members when he is noticed by the cycling club and his skill on riding an old bike they call a mama bike and has no business being able to ride the way he can without the speed gauges that road or racing bikes have.

This was way better then I thought it was going to be and wouldn't mind seeing where the writer is taking this. Usually I am not a fan on sport like mangas but I thought this one was okay and might read more at a later date.

Conclusion

Sakimichi Onoda is an otaku. He make the ninety-kilometer round trip to Akihabara more than a few times a week, and mommy bike too. As in, a women’s designed bike with a basket. Despite this, Sakamichi is a power-peddler. When his biking skills are notice I a serious first-year road racer, Imaizumi, Sakimichi is challenged to a rigorous bike race. Sakimichi has no interest in biking for sports, but when Imaizumi says he’ll join the anime club if Sakimichi wins, Sakimichi has something to race for.

For monger bouts for, because biking is a sport, it was actually really interesting. The first volume leaves you on the cliffhanger with wondering who’s going to win the race, which he would find out in the second volume. It is intriguing and has me want to keep reading, but when I found out there is over 50 volumes, I decided that perhaps this particular monger was not meant to be part of my collection, but maybe one day I’ll read it online or borrowed from my friend, who happens to own all of it. Overall I enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t about romance, and it wasn’t necessarily about action either; it’s simply about a boy who loves anime and a boy who loves biking.

Standard affair: Social-invalid teenage protagonist has unknowingly fostered a skill throughout youth and now, off to a new highschool, that mysterious skill is spotted by someone else who in turn becomes first friend of awkward teenager and is followed by many others.

Same thing that you have either read a million times in manga, or have spotted a million times by reading just the first page.

Yowamushi Pedal is about bicycle racing; some good amounts of biking terms like "dancing," a substancial amount of panels dedicated to parts of the bike and explaining them, and of course lots of racing and riding.

It's fun--- if you like bikes. This is a sport-specific/special-interest manga through and through. So if you like bicycles or bicycle racing, then you'll like Yowamushi. If you don't, you won't. Plain as that. Not a very creative work, but it does do what it should.

I am loving this series so far. Not since Eyeshield 21 have I come across something where you find yourself cheering on the weak, sweet and innocent protagonist as he struggles to find his place in high school. Onoda just wants to join the manga club where he can make friends but for some reason or another, he keeps running into serious biker students. The first one he meets is the tall, serious and arrogant Izumi who's confident he will make it to the school cycling team. This series is well written and you can't help but sympathize and cheer on Onoda, and at times, you even get angry with his weaknesses and self doubts. Definitely a series I will be following!

Imaizumi really should've joined the anime club. If he watched tons of sports anime, he would know not to underestimate the weak-looking ones. Speaking of weak-looking ones, Onoda's character turned out a lot better than expected. He's neither meek nor timid but rather is just a happy simpleton otaku who also gets shy sometimes. If there's something that I'm quickly hating about this manga, it's the girls. Srsly Kanzaki is starting to get on my neves and idk why. But guess I'll have to sort out my feelings for her since she'll most likely be an important character.

This was actually really fun and cute. I like our main character and the few other characters we saw. I wish we would have finished with the outcome of the race but I guess that means I'll have to continue on.

It's not bad, but it's not good either. There are better sports related anime/manga out there. Overall this volume was too slow paced for me, which is a particularly bad sign for a sports manga. I do like the main character and wish him well.

The art style is a little rough, but unique, and that's what I like. The main character, Onoda, is cute and awkward. Don't know if I'd personally read the rest of it, since the sports genre isn't really my thing, but it does seem like it'd be worth a try if you do.

This manga had a really good story line. When I first started reading it I wasn't sure what to expect. I plan on reading the other 3 of these my local library has too. Oh, and I checked out the Yowamushi Pedal anime yesterday; I haven't watched yet.

I really liked this, and I'm not a big fan of manga. It has a lot of introductory details about road riding and racing, including why people enjoy it. I'm probably going to read the other volumes.
