Soon after Claire arrives in Saudi Arabia, her roommate is jailed and a baby is abandoned in the desert. Despairing and mystified by tradition, Claire is catapulted into the royal arena where she and a colleague are delegated to care for a Princess in her palace. Welcomed by the Royal family yet shunned by the servants, Claire struggles to assimilate and understand ancient customs, but incensed handmaids conspire against her, undermining her work. M.Doreen's writing began as a child crafting short stories and journaling. She broadened her skills through newspaper articles for palliative/hospice care, then technical writing for developing professional manuals and teaching aids for health care workers. It was her twenty-year profession as a registered nurse that took her to exotic places such as Tahiti, Egypt, India and the Middle East where she worked and lived amongst people of different cultures. Canadian born, M.Doreen currently resides in the US with her husband and yellow lab, where she pursues her passion for creative writing. M.Doreen, submerged in Saudi culture for a number of years, weaves her real-life experiences into the story, Surreal in Saudi.
