Sculpsit: Contemporary Artists on Sculpture and Beyond

Rate this book
Sculpsit is the first book in a new series, Transcript , which will focus on the artist's voice via interviews, collaborations, artist's pages, lecture texts, and notes. "Sculpsit" is a Latin phrase which means "he (or she) who sculptured it" and was frequently inscribed on sculptures, and followed by the artist's name. Along the same line of thought, this lavishly-illustrated volume documents some contemporary modes of expression in the expanded field of visual media. The book surveys innovations and new directions, looking at the work of artists such as Tracey Emin, Cornelia Parker, and Michael Sandle, and focuses on such media as installations, video, photomicrographs, fireworks, memorials, canvasses, and needlepoint.
