Emily Colton has returned home. Her mother Meredith is back home. Her aunt Patsy (who had impersonated Meredith) has completely confessed in exchange for Joe and Meredith taking care of Joe, Jr. and Teddy and Patsy is now in a psychiatric center. Patsy tries to commit suicide and gives Meredith a month to find Jewel - after years of paying private investigators to find Jewel.
Martha Wilkes, Meredith's friend and psychologist, came to visit and help Meredith through the transition of being home. Emily is encouraged to talk with Martha, but instead, she wants to go out and be in solitude because the large family is good, but everyone needs their space. Josh Atkins, brother to Toby Atkins who was killed when Silas Pike almost had Emily, wants to be her guilty conscience, reminding her that he died, blaming her for leaving him to die alone, and escaping the guilt he carries that he had not left the rodeo circuit and settled down on a ranch, bringing Toby from the Sheriff's office to a "safer" place.
A storm rolls in and Josh and Emily are stuck in the cave she was thinking of being solitudinous in until the storm passes. They have one "regular date" then Josh states he is going back on the rodeo tour. Emily is a bit crushed, and works out her anger towards her family because they didn't believe her and her disappointment, and anger towards Josh with Martha.
Martha has decided to move to Prosperino. She bought a house and is moving towards adoption of a little girl, Titania. Hopechest, the Colton's ranch for foster and at-risk children, has been having a number of unexplained small animal deaths (mice, kittens) and now the children are getting sick......[setting up mystery for next string of books?]
Josh returns to Emily and the Colton family during Thanksgiving. He explains things to Emily and then there is a slight bit of time before the wedding of Josh and Emily along with a renewing of the vows between Meredith and Joe.
*Alert* If you started reading the series and only wanted to follow the soap-opera thread of switched twins, this is where that story ends. /Alert

Chatrný příběh.
No, strávili spolu dva dny v jeskyni a vyspali se spolu. Co by to bylo jiného než lásečka.
Sice pak na dlouho zmizí, ale pak se vrátí s tím, že byl pitomec, ale už není. A miluje ji. Ona miluje jeho. Už chybí jenom teplá žemle u lanovky.
s. 114 „Jestli jste to ještě nezaregistrovala, je třeba vykydat hnůj.“
Čím? V jeskyni, kde je akorát „bedna s různými krámy“ jako jsou vařič, zápalky, porcelánové šálky a karty. Nebo že by si něco hrdinové přivezli s sebou na koni?
s. 131 Michaelovi bylo sotva jedenáct, když zemřel
Na s. 234 je rodokmen.

Takže mu bylo maximálně osm.

It was just slow to get going. The ending felt incomplete. too much info on the other stories some felt confusing.
