Offers detailed descriptions of the travails of an orchestra conductor who began his journeys with the great conductor Igor Stravinsky and who has continued to crisscross the globe, simply for the pure joy of travel.
I know of him from the Stravinsky connection, in my opinion its not a book to skim, his knowledge and erudition deserve attention. Gives lots of leads to google for and learn of and I even found one mistake .... Mr Craft !!
Could be viewed as a terse style but thats really because its written as diary entries and with a vocabulary that initially irritated but I soon realised he was like a very good school teacher, he brings you on, something for everyone. I even bought another copy for a friend of mine. An incredibly gifted man.
