Photographic record of the film career of Gary Cooper includes synopses, cast listings, and related material on the ninety-two films in which he appeared
Not so insightful but very entertaining collection of reviews/synopses of Gary Cooper's filmography. I enjoyed recollecting what I've seen and being offered opinions on what made each work a success or a failure. I didn't agree with a lot of it, but Dickens's contributions are funny enough to consider.
"He was a poet of the real. He knew all about cows, bulls, cars and ocean tides. He had the enthusiasm of a boy. He could always tell you his first vivid impression of a thing. He had an old-fashioned politeness, but he said nothing casually." - Clifford Odets.
"He is one of the most beloved illiterates this country has ever known." - Carl Sandburg.
Very nice pictorial tribute to one of Hollywood's greats and a twice winner of the Best Actor Academy Award* - Gary Cooper.
From his feature film debut** in the silent film "The Winning of Barbara Worth" (1926) to his final performance in "The Naked Edge" (1961), a career which spanned some 34 years, Cooper was the perfect embodiment of the motion picture star during the Golden Years of Hollywood.
