But they are falling for each other and don’t even know it. This spicy romance on the set of a popular television show contains all the answers!
Emma Monaghan writes quirky, steamy new adult romances with naive heroes and sassy women who unlock their hearts. Most of her stories are inspired by the real-life experiences of friends and even her own personal ones.
Her weaknesses include pizza, rocky road ice cream, indie films, and tattooed men (like Adam Levine and David Beckham). She is a die hard fan of Mel Robbins and has applied the 5-second rule pretty much in everything.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this delightful book from Emma Monaghan. Heartsong is the first book in the What The Heart Calls Series and I look forward to future books in the series. Luke Holden and Erika Adams are co-stars on a popular historical romance series on Heart T.V. Erika has a boyfriend who is also an actor but unbeknownst to her he is only using her to further his career. Erika and Luke have undeniable chemistry on set and Luke wishes they had an off camera relationship too. When Erika finds out about her boyfriend’s true intentions she feels betrayed and vows to never date another actor again. Now that she’s single Luke sees this as his opportunity for a chance with Erika. Will Erika let go of past betrayal and give Luke a chance ? Will Luke prove to Erika that he’s nothing like her ex ?
This is a story of betrayal, unrequited love and finding true love. From the moment they meet, the chemistry between Erika and Luke is tangible, a blessing for the cameras rolling as they play their roles in a love story for TV. For Luke, the attraction has grown into love, but he can’t tell her how he feels....she has a boyfriend. Her boyfriend, an actor himself, is dating and wooing Erica for publicity to maintain his own acting role. Feeling betrayed when she finally learns of her boyfriend/fiancée’s betrayal, Erika tells Luke she will never date another actor. With his hopes for a chance with Erika dashed, Luke puts distance between them, with the exception of the time they are on camera. An eventual truce, an eventful wrap party, and a steamy encounter all give Luke hope for a future with Erika. When his hopes are dashed yet again, he leaves his acting role and Erika behind. Can this couple really have a future together? Will Erika finally see what had been right before her all along? This story is deftly told through Erika and Luke’s alternating points of view. It provokes laughter, some swooning sighs, and a few words of frustrated annoyance. A very enjoyable read, all told. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
When an unexpected role in a historical TV series arises, Erika seizes the opportunity to film in Canada, far from the warmth and relaxed lifestyle of California. Despite her relationship with her commitment-shy boyfriend, Erika has a sizzling on-screen attraction with her co-star Luke that results in an unexpected reaction from John. I enjoyed this romance that has a good plot and it is also well written. I loved Luke's down-to-earth approach to life and Erika's somewhat quirky nature. This is the first time I have read a book by this author, which is a standalone and comes to a happy ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
They played lovers on television but soon fiction becomes reality as they fell in love. They did not plan to but things just happen beyond their control.
Unfortunately, she has a boyfriend who might be just a problem for them to actually be together who might have other motives. Could one night together bring them closer or be disastrous to their friendship and career?
Will the two be able to find happiness together or are they meant to be a part? Love happens at the oddest times.
I want to thank Emma Monaghan, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Heartsong that I won in the Giveaway.
Finding love while filming a television series is a difficult place to get together as a couple. I liked characters and the reality of the plot in Heartsong. The controversy with another actor and supposed boyfriend added some problems and emotional confusion to over that lead to a happy ending.
I won this via Goodreads Giveaway and just read it. I see that it has gotten good reviews so I am probably of the minority here. This just wasn't for me. The parallels to Hallmark and When calls the heart are a little cringe. The writing is ok. The FMC was irritating. The MMC is the only part of the story that redeemed it for me, but probably could argue too perfect.
Sweet romance set in Hollywood with real characters and fun dialogue. Lead characters Erika and Luke remind me of Hallmark series stars. Great book with lots of drama and feel good moments.
