I thought if I could survive a semester at Lost Lake Academy, I could survive anything. I was wrong. I’m done with secrets. I’m ready to gain control of my own life and take charge of my future. But the new semester is about to start, and my three guys are nowhere to be found. I thought the worst was over, but now I see this is only the beginning. When deceit and betrayal lie around every corner, what will it take to get them back, and am I willing to pay the price? Hidden Truths is a full length reverse harem novel. It is a new adult contemporary romance, and is the second book in a trilogy.
As I am a big reader and sometimes the bullymance stories and the academy names seem to blend into one, I had to re-read my review of Book #1 so I remembered which series this was connected to and the storyline. Hidden Truths was the story of Camilla who we will remember started at Lost Lake and discovered all about her mother's family and involvement in the gang and that Camilla is one of the last OG family survivors along with the boys she has befriended and together the foursome make up a Reverse Harem love story. In Hidden Truths, the book starts with the boys kidnapped as the enemy is trying to track down the safe house that their parents who have been dead for over a decade kept the secrets. For the boys, this was a lifetime ago and they never knew the exact location. Each boy has left a part of a code but without the decipher, it is a bunch of random clues. What will happen though when Camilla ends up kidnapped as well? Will this be the death of the current generation or will Camilla's survival instincts and positivity need to give the boys the determination to get out of this kidnap situation and track down the safe house? I did love this ending as it was so unexpected and I was like OMFG and read the last page twice and now I can't wait to read Book #3. Hidden Truths by Lydia Reeve also ended on a massive cliffhanger ending.
Hidden Truths starts where book 1 ended, but in this book, we get some chapters from Garrett's POV, which I think is a great addition! All the main characters are still likable and I love how they click when they're all together. The guys are so committed to Camilla and vice versa. There are also several hot scenes highlighting how these characters click in the bedroom too (hello Garrett). Their overall dynamic jumped off the page for me and is such a wonderful read. I hope Ms. Reeves continues to write RH after this series because she does the relationship part really well and writes men I love.
Camilla slowly learns more about the Shattered Sun and some crucial background on the guys in this book. There are still times where she's lost in this world and there are consequences for her not knowing how things work. I also internally yelled at her a couple of times because I wanted her to ask questions or say something specific, but I think the trail of hints and breadcrumbs Ms. Reeves is laying down has to unravel a certain way. I love Camilla's desire to grow and figure out her place in this world and in the greater world, because even with all the revelations she's dealing with, she's still barely an adult. I'm hoping book 3 shows even more of her growth, while keeping the softer sides of her character still.
The danger has ramped up in Hidden Truths with more enemies showing themselves, more action scenes, and more violence because of the first two. The intrigue and tension kept me invested in how the characters would succeed in their tasks and survive some of the situations they ended up in. There's still a nice balance of the mafia elements with relationship development and "regular" life scenes however. New characters, good and bad, and what turns out to be a very important returning character (who has an even larger impact than we thought in book 1) make appearances. I kept reminding myself throughout that not everyone can be trusted (most actually can't) and it's a lesson I think will continue to play out in book 3.
This second book ends on more of an information reveal like the first book did, which I really like. It both makes me more anxious to read book 3 and won't have me losing my mind worrying about everyone until it releases.
This is a great second book and a fab addition to this series. We carry on from where book one left us and is fast paced and full of action and the steam well it is off the charts! With great characters it’s one hell of a ride and I cannot wait to read the next book!
Holy smokes these twisted and turns!!!!! I was sucked into book 2 and had to finish it in just under 2 hours!!! Book two is way better then book 1 you get to see so much more of the guys and Camilla!!!!! Defiantly another 5 star read for sure!!!
Just started, on chapter 10 and already leaving a review. Why is Camilla so dense? Why is she trusting ppl simply bc they’ve said they were told to watch after her without checking with your aunt!?! How fucking stupid are you?!?!!! If they are safe and fine…I will change my review. Yup, leaving as is. Her mother said not to trust anyone and what does Camilla do? Trust people she just met on a fucking plane ride. Not once did she think…”self. Let’s call my aunt to ask a question” not once did she wonder why her aunt would send in children as her body guard. This just makes me sick!
Authors like to write supposedly smart ppl, but then make them so fucking dumb!
“Valerie and Collin’s betrayal”… this is what Camilla said. …like she knew them from Adam.
Chapter 30 and she knew they were kidnapped and she still haven’t told them what her mother said for their ears only.
“But I didn’t want to go to New York. I was an artist; I didn’t want to go to business school. I didn’t want to be separated from the guys, and I certainly didn’t want to spend the rest of my life fulfilling someone else’s requirements.” ——— yet she MADE the decision to join the family business and now she’s going on like this…my gosh she’s pathetic.
It’s when authors think we didn’t already figure shit out…..”mom” very anticlimactic 🙄

The second book in this trilogy starts off strong, with a kidnapping no less. Devan, Micah and Garrett are kidnapped and held for weeks by members of the Fallen Eagles who seek the location of the safe house where the Fiorenza family has kept all their secrets. But the boys had not yet discovered where it is despite having been looking for it for years. Camilla spends the holidays with her aunt Naomi, but when she returns to Lost Lake she too is kidnapped. Fortunately, everything works out and everyone manages to escape, but that doesn’t mean they are safe. They will have to find the safe house and the key is in their graduation. Meanwhile they try to lead a normal life and continue their relationship. Camilla and the 3 boys give free rein to their passion, both separately and in group and it’s super 🔥🔥🔥. The end of the book again leaves me 😮 thanks to an unexpected surprise. We will have to wait patiently for the next book to see how the story ends.
Hidden Truths (Lost Lake Academy 2) Read 12.29.21 5☆ I loved this book! It was a fast-paced book for me
• After reading the 1st book in this trilogy, Hidden Lies, I immediately bought this ebook and dove right in. I didn't want to put it down so I flew through it! • The plot got so much more interesting in this book, and the characters oh I loved them so much! There was no confusion in the story so it was easy to follow and I felt like I was there. Also, the spicy scenes were so good! • This is a RH, I haven’t read many of these yet, however, I felt like this was really well done. This is an academy book but not really a bully romance (I was glad), it also didn't have the typical mean girl clique, this made the book more enjoyable for me. (As stated in my review of Hidden Lies)
• I want more! The 3rd book in this trilogy (Hidden Resolve) has not been published yet and I am eagerly waiting, I've already pre-ordered!
This is so exciting!! Mafia type romances are one of my favourites....this certainly has those mafia themes crossed with an academy style romances.....violence, danger, secret societies, elite boarding school, death and so many lies! I really don't know who to trust and time is running out...there is so much that actually happens in this the second book in the series, it really kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through and i'm no closer to getting all the answers i needed.
If you enjoy a darker RH romance with incredible characters and a plot full of mystery and intrigue then you need to read this series!! I cannot wait for the next instalment! Loved it
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review
I was provided with an eARC by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
*4.5
This book was AMAZING! It was super fast-paced, fun, with twists around every corner. I have to say, I enjoyed this book a LOT more than the first one.
What I liked: - The pacing - The plot - The SMUT - The cliffhanger
Some not-so-great aspects: - Convenient plot points
That's it. There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this novel. If you even slightly enjoyed the first book in this series, please please please pick up the second one! It definitely will not disappoint. I recommend :)
This book answered so many questions I had from the first in the series and somehow still ended on a more dramatic cliffhanger.
Overall it was another really well written book and I was happy with what most of them did throughout the book, even if I was yelling at Camilla the whole time because the answer was right in front of her face.
Even spicer than the first book, thankfully Garret decides to let loose a little and join in. I am still hung up on if Garret or Micah is my favorite - but Garret is slowly edging Micah out...
Can't wait to see how this series gets wrapped up in book 3.
THAT ENDING HAS ME REELING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told you I loved the first one. I loved it so much I immediately picked up the second book and finished it in the same night, within a couple hours. Honestly when I first read the blurb about the book I was a little hesitant because it said the guys go missing, but then I actually picked the book up and I legit did not put it down once.
I was to pick the third book up now, but it is 1am, and I have to be up early tomorrow, so I guess I will have to wait to read it....
I was so excited to get back to Lost Lake, and this book did not disappoint! The story picks up right where the previous book left off, and was filled with mystery and suspense (and a few steamy scenes!) the whole way through! We get to learn a little more about the Shattered Sun and the Fallen Eagles, and we’re introduced to a few new members of each organization. I loved that we got a few chapters from Garrett’s POV too! This book leaves off with a bit of a surprise at the end, and I’m excited to find out what happens next!
Wow what can you say about this book it was so good! This is the 2nd book in the series and I recomend you reading the 1st as it is a follow-on. The author has done a fantastic job with the book as I felt as if I was there with the characters and experiencing what they were going through. There is a lot going on in this book, and it leaves on a cliffhanger (not a bad one). I cannot wait for the next book. I was gifted an ARC for an honest review.
OMG! I have been waiting for this book since the first one came out. I re-read the first book (hidden lies) before reading this one so that it would be fresh in my memory. I loved it as much the second time as the first, and I love this one just as much of not more. I am so invested!! Book 3 can’t get here soon enough
I received this book as an ARC copy and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story picked up where the previous book left off. I really liked the characters and how their relationship has grown. I would have liked to see maybe a bit more about the gangs and maybe even elaborate a bit more on how there really are no secrets. I rated a 3 out of 5 because it was still a good story and it still left me eager to read the series to conclusion.
Still so many secrets to unravel in this second book! And every time one is revealed, it seems like two more appear. The storyline definitely kept me invested, and I cheered when the guys finally let Camilla in all the way. Surprise at the end for that cliffie! Can't wait to see how they uncover the big picture and find a way to escape both dangerous organizations that are chasing them. Oh, and yeah, of course, get their HEA too!
For an heir to the seat on the mob counsel, Camilla has really poor instincts. She has poor social cues and doesn't know how to protect herself, which is fine, except she comes from a mob family. I waited the whole book for her to remember to tell the boys about the clue left in her parents' note. As much as I did enjoy this book, the story did get drawn out longer than it needed to be. I will still read the next book.
Absolutely loved it, it kept me completely enthralled the whole time and I couldn’t put it down until the very last word... that cliff hanger ending was fantastic. Overall this book was well written, has a very well thought out storyline with so many twists and turns - I loved it! Can’t wait to see what happens next.
This second book in the Lost Lake Academy series was full of action, with mysteries unfolding, and death at every turn. I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading book thre.
OMG! That ending!! But first, this story is getting intense now, so much is on the line for everyone, will they find out what they need to know? Who can Camilla trust? Where are the bad guys now? So many questions! Can't wait to read the next one.
Loved this. It's like a Netflix series with so many new back stories popping up left and right to keep you on your toes. I can't wait to see how it all ends.
Camilla and the guys are in trouble and the more she learns the more questions she has. Who killed her parents, where is the safe house and can they live long enough to find the answers.
