Hunter Rose is a Contemporary Romance author who found his love for literature at an early age. Reading everything from Edgar Allen Poe to Nora Roberts, Hunter's love for reading quickly turned into a passion for writing. After writing in a few genres, Hunter became intrigued by Contemporary Romance being the hopeless romantic that he is.
When he is not writing, Hunter finds inspiration through travelling across the world and meeting new people. Although he enjoys spending time with others, Hunter also appreciates some alone time displaying his creativity in his carpentry workshop with a glass of aged Whisky on the rocks.
Let Amelia and Drew take you on an emotional roller coaster. Their chemistry is off the charts even if they choose to deny it. No shortage of drama, a one night stand with a man who rocked her world and the one night wonder ends up being her new boss and more. Plenty of twists, surprises and drama. The characters are great and the story line is engaging. Well written and fun to read. I read this book as a free advance reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
I've been bouncing between 2 and 2.5 stars for this book. I have to say it just wasn't my cup of tea. The writing was okay, but I wanted more out of this story. I really wanted christmas romances and this just didn't feel like a christmas romance. The romance was just okay, it didn't feel super real to me. I will also say that I didn't really like any of the characters. There was also a surprise pregnancy. Like I said unfortunatly it just wasn't for me.
Amelia is escaping her old life, and embracing a new one. Her boyfriend cheated on her, so she left her old life to find a new one. She found a new job as a doctors office manager in a small town where no one knows her or her situation. She’s pretty pleased with herself, but she’s the only one! I get the distinct impression she’s had an uphill battle from an early age. Her mother has been ill for most of Amelia’s life! Get the feeling she’s really bitter. But what can she do about it, she’s not prepared to blow her mum off, she’s never gotten any recognition or praise (her father left her mum when she got pregnant, and then a concession of stepfathers!) Her mother looks at her as a means of income! Drew is a doctor, lived his whole life in Watson. The town is named after his family, and they are treated a little like royalty, but not for Drew, he wants to help people and avoid his stepmother! Taking on his fathers practise has been an ambition forever, and now it’s finally his, if only they were to be left in peace! They first meet under less than great circumstances! They bump into one another, but Drew is very abrupt and stomps off in a mood! Amelia thinks he’s hot, but really rude, neither realising they are going to be working together..... Their second meeting is also unusual, Drew rescues Amelia after she falls taking her dog for a walk, there is attraction between the pair, but both are wary..... But they arrange to go to dinner, and both are eager for a different kind of dessert!! Two weeks later she’s about to start her job, and who’s her new employer? Yup, you guessed it, her Savior and one night stand!! Talk about embarrassing.... But she takes the job and they settle in and start their new relationship as employer/employee.... But as Drew was upset bad annoyed with Amelia just leaving his bed without a word his very short with her! The job is going to be so hard working together, but they are professionals, they can be civil, can’t they? This is a sort of a one night stand story, that becomes an enemy to lovers kind of book. I did like the premise of this book, usually a one night stand turns into something else, but not this one. They keep each other at arms length after amazing sex. But when his stepmother tries to set Drew up with a woman, he turns to Amelia and asks her to be his fake date!! I loved some of the other characters, Kate the nurse and Daniel (Drew’s hound dog of a brother) and her best friend Zach (he just made me chuckle) So can Drew and Amelia pretend to have feelings for one another? When it’s clear to see that they are perfect for each other...... And when things start to get a little real with the couple, someone tries to put a spoke in their relationship! Can they get past all the misunderstandings and backstabbing that are trying to keep them apart? Nicely written and well articulated. This might be the authors first book, but I look forward to reading more. And i hope we get to come back to the town of Watson. 🦋 I received a free copy of this book and volunteered to review it.
This is a great storyline about Amelia wanting a new start in a new town with a new job as the office manager to a medical clinic. She meets a new man who tends to her after she falls and hits her head. Could this be a new romance? Drew, realizing that Amelia will be working for him does not tell her as he asks her to dinner. Their attraction to one another turns into a one-night stand but the romance does not blossom. Amelia is surprised to learn that Drew is her boss and Drew is very professional and business-like faulting Amelia for their one night together because she left without an explanation.
Amelia is a happy and pleasant person complementing Drew’s harsh and brooding character. To date, she is my favourite Hunter Rose heroine because I identify with her feistiness and honesty. Knowing that Amelia needs money, he hires her to be his Christmas fiancé to keep his stepmother off his back about his being in a relationship. Will she be able to pull it off, play the casual role when both she and Drew want more than a fake romance?
My first read of Hunter Rose’s was ‘Faking it” and I was hooked. But this one is my favourite. I like how he portrays his characters. Drew a little bit gruff and grumpy; Amelia, warm and giving; Zachary, loyal and supportive; Daniel, easy-going and sympathetic; and Kate—ah, Kate, I will not say anything about her personality. If you read between the lines you will see that the author leaves us little hints about Kate and the role she plays in this story. And I like that in a book; when we have clues to lead us to the person’s character.
Hunter’s style of writing is simple, yet complex. His words are expressive yet motionless. Scenes that are intense yet calming. He has taken words and blended them on a canvas to give us colour, with the hues and tints that make people real, that make life real. This is a fun story, a happy story with some funny lines and clever writing.
First, I admired Amelia for creating a new life for herself because she was not getting what she need in her own home town. Finding a job and relocating is not easy for anyone. Running into a standoffish and ruid Drew. After a one night affair before she started her new job was a mind blowing experience when she found out Drew was the doctor in the practice where she was his office manager in his medical practice, she was a little shocked how he was treating her in the office. He was mad because she left his house without a note, he was not used to a women treating him that way. Amelia took no crap from Drew and he learned to like how she stood up to him when she felt he was being disrespectful to her. Drew's personality was very hard to deal with most of the time. She took her time with him and showed him he was too standoffish with people. She also made him realize he was a kind person on the inside. When he got tired of his stepmother trying to fix him up with women within their social network, he asked Amelia to be his fake fiancee to get her off his back. It worked for a while until his stepmother and others made her feel she did not belong in their world. Finding out her so called friend tried to prevent her and Drew from being together, she and Drew admitted how much they loved each and was willing to try again. This story was different, but as good read.

Loved this book. Amelia moved for a fresh start and she is loving the town except for the grumpy man she bumped into by accident then the same man rescued her when she slipped in the woods and knocked herself out after coming to grumpy Drew ended up saying the wrong thing and Amelia left. Drew sees Amelia in the shop and goes and apologise and as her on a date which leads to them sleeping together. Drew is fed up of his mother trying to set him up so he comes up with a plan and after he overhead Amelia has money problems he asks her to be his fake fiancé and she agrees but what Drew doesn’t bank on is getting feelings for Amelia even though they had a contract drawn up. Amelia went around with Drew as his fake fiancé which becomes real but after a big fight everything is off Drew breaks up with her will they find there way back to each other especially after the surprise Amelia has found out
Amelia moved to have a new life and away from her cheating fiance. While coming out of store with her bundle of goods for painting she walks right into someone. He was clearly a grade A jerk towards her. She decided to take her dog for a walk and fell down an embankment and passes out. Drew hears a dog consistently barking, goes to investigate sees Amelia being lifeless takes her back to his place to ensure she's okay when she wakes. Amelia wakes and runs out of the house getting back to her place wishing she could start her new job. Once Amelia starts her new job she hears someone coming in a yelling who is parking in his space. Maybe the third time is a charm, Amelia sees Drew and reduces it to him being her new boss. Will the sparks fly with these two and get the HEA?
A truly delightful read! Amelia has come to a new town to start over after learning her ex had been cheating on her. When she is taking her dog for a walk she falls down an embankment and passes out. Lucky for her Drew's house is close by, and he hears the dog. When he goes to investigate he finds her passed out and takes her back to his house to make sure she’ll be okay. Being that he was a doctor he found that she wasn't seriously injured and decided he could take care of her for the time being. She returns to her house and after a few days goes to start her new job. Oops, she hears a voice yelling that someone has parked in his spot. What a way for her to start her new job! Their voyage to a much much better relationship and more is absolutely delightful. Congrats, Hunter on a second outstanding work! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Drew was mean to certain extent. He was mean because of the "high society pressure" his stepmother kept putting on him to marry someone with a certain status. The stepmother was too high and mighty. I liked Daniel he was the one Drew talked to when he had things going on and needed someone to talk to. Drew's relationship with Amelia was one where he did not want to give in to his feelings for her in the beginning. He was falling for her the first night they were together. Drew had women that really wanted him and he did not like the type of women his stepmother kept bringing to him. She was too much. I liked Amelia and she did not take none of Drew's crap. She did not care about his status. She really liked him. They over came the struggles and stayed together. The ending came too fast. I wanted a little more.
I really liked Amelia and her dog Maisie. Amelia was genuine and knew she was imperfect and was not afraid to be herself and embrace life. Drew kept himself apart because he was afraid of being used for his family money. Amelia and Drew run into each other (literally) right after she moves to town and it does not go well. Their second meeting is not any better either. However, they end up working together and getting to know each other better. Their relationship develops quickly but their feelings are real and deep. There is some angst but they pretty quickly work through their issues to their HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A new author for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect really. The Perfect Gift follows doctor Drew Watson and his new office manager Amelia. When Amelia learns about her fiancé cheating on her, she packs her stuff and moves to a small town for a fresh start. Of course, things can’t be that easy for her. When Amelia falls while walking her dog and knocks herself out Drew comes to her rescue, but when she wakes up startled, she runs off not realizing that Drew is her new boss. As they get to know one another, Drew makes her an offer to help get his stepmother to stop setting him up on blind dates in exchange for money to help Amelia with her mother’s medication. But, what happens the sparks begin to fly, and the pair want more?
The Perfect Gift: A Fake Fiance' Christmas Romance
Amelia finally has a chance for a new start, new job, new town, new life. She was more than ready for all of it, and a chance to get away from all the things that made her life intolerable,an ex and a life of poverty. This job was paying her more than she had ever made in her life, she had to take this chance. Then she met him, the man that was her neighbor, the ride man who barked at her in the parking lot, her boss. Wow, maybe there's a chance that he can learn to be a little nicer, somewhere. After all what are new chances for, if not to change your life and maybe a few others along the way!
Amelie has come to Watson to make something of herself, she's got a good job at the local medical centre. She takes her dog, Maisie, out for a walk and ends up hurting herself. Drew takes his dog, Hans, out for a walk and finds her. Sparks fly. A few days later, when she starts work, Drew is introduced as the doctor at the centre. Oops! Drew's stepmother, Susan, keeps trying to set him up with women, so he has an idea, Amelia needs money for her mother's medication. A deal is struck.
3.5 Stars This had a lot of tropes that ticked the boxes for me. Amelia and Drew were really fun characters and their workplace romance was well written. the holiday vibes weren't suffocating which I liked. Hunter Rose is a new author for me. Their work is fun, light and sexy. I look forward to more books by this author.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Amelia and Drew's story is sweet, funny and captivating. Amelia moved to get away from her past drama. While coming out of a store she bumps into Drew a grad a jerk, a little while later while walking her dog, she falls in an embankment and ends up being saved by none other that Drew. Turns out life had something else in store for our poor Amelia, Drew is now her new boss! Can these two opposites attract ? Quirky, entertaining, fun I can't wait to see what's this new author has in store. I volunteered to review this story.
A really good, passionate, and exciting page turner! The storyline is engaging, well written, funny, fast pace, and emotionally deep with humour, witty banter, drama, ups and downs, betrayal, and more. The characters are likeable; the chemistry between them is instant and off the charts. This is a really enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy.
The Perfect Gift by Hunter Rose was a treat to read. I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review, and, while not my usual genre, I found myself enchanted. The storyline was fast-paced and well written, filled with adventure, intrigue and romance. The characters are well developed and engaging. It was fun watching Drew's stony facade crack as Amelia broke him open like an egg. Overall, a very enjoyable read for anyone looking for a little romance in their lives.
I love it! A smooth and romantic read. Being in the first person really sells the character the best and I love knowing what is going on in their head. Loved how the ending went. When attraction leads toward a romance and then the drama happens to Amelia as she starts fresh in a new town with a new job. Who would have thought the jerk who bumped into her would be her boss with a fake fiancée proposal. It’s a great read!
This author is new and was impressed with his writing. Amelia is starting fresh in a new town and job. Drew and Amelia hooked up. Drew was a bit of an a**. Starting her new job and none other Drew is her boss (awkward for first day). All in all a good book to read. I received a free copy of this book for an voluntary and honest review.
Amelia has had a hard childhood with different step dads around and her mother being I'll. But the last thing was her cheating fiance, so she decided to take a chance and get away and take a better job at a doctors office. When she first got there she had no idea idea this rude, hateful and closed of person she ran into would be a working in progress but the in the best way.
An enjoyable well written contemporary romance. This engaging storyline has me hooked page after page with fate constantly throwing these two at each other . The story is well paced, steamy, and entertaining with characters that have great chemistry, are interesting and have amazing chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
Amelia and Drew are fantastic together, in spite of themselves. I just love a good holiday fake fiance book. You know the kind -- where both characters go in thinking they hate each other and will never fall for the other one? The one where that is exactly what happens and the fall is oh so fun to watch. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and loved every moment.
I was highly entertained by this book. The characters were loveable and sweet and all around amazing. There were a few curve balls I didn't see coming, but that just rounded out the story very well.
I received an ARC in exchange for my voluntary and honest review.
Drew, the grumpy teddy bear and Amelia do not start off on the right foot. However, they can not avoid each other and end up making a deal. What happens when they both want more?? This was a cute story. A good, fun read.
Amelia takes a job in a different town to get away from her cheating EX. She has a 1 night stand with her boss (doesn’t know). His mother is after him to get married, so he ask Amelia to be his fake fiancé. What starts out as fake winds up being real. They are able to find their HEA.
I enjoyed Drew & Amelia's book. Great characters. It was a fun, entertaining read. This was a new author for me. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
