I read this book over a few months, but every time i picked it up I read something that is relevant to where I was at the time. The power for living ultimately comes down to tapping in to the power and annointing present in the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. One of the chapters in the book "the power of why" really helped me with a different perspective. We are always told never to question God. T.D. Jakes brings a different perspective that God actually wants us to seek Him out and ask Him why! This was really a thought-provoking book. I like how the last chapter brings everything together.

This book is a great empowerment book for anyone even not on a spiritual journey of faith. There is a great feature at the end that has a summary for keeping the principles in practice and keeping faith when the odds seem to unfold against us. The best truths I learned while reading this book is that my attitude towards all things and all people must be directed by my faith in God and my walk in my faith - a loving, forgiving, honest walk toward the power that God offers all who call on His name and believe on Jesus whom God sent. It is a book that should remain out on the table or within grasp as you can turn to any page at any time for a quick reminder of Biblical truths to inspire you at any time. Biblically sound; great for those who are seeking or testing out the idea of believing in God. Great for those who believe in a "Higher Power" as it points you toward the source of who that Higher Power is.

Moving and powerful. T.D.Jakes hits the high notes and the low notes of our walk with God and the power of the Holy Spirit within us. This book is an encouraging and uplifting read. I gathered many quotes, insights, and scriptures that I want to memorize. The book is well written and easy to follow. Thus, my five star review.

I am not really the target audience for this book, but every once in a while I like to check in to other corners of the Christian publishing world. This one, by megachurch pastor and televangelist TD Jakes? It's nothing like the chirrupy generic positivity of folks like Joel Osteen, or the slickness of a Creflo A. Dollar.

It's...hmmm. There's always been more to Jakes than other folk, more tending to the meaning of a text. Not that it's academic. It reads simply. "Very direct" seems appropriate. The concepts presented are straightforward, the language, really really straightforward. Having heard Jakes preach, what strikes me is how the text of this book doesn't mirror the natural flow and cadence of his oratory. It's choppier, less playful, with less flow. It feels quickly produced...perhaps as an accompaniment to a sermon series. I'm sure there are better examples of his work out there.

That said, it is encouraging, hopeful, non-judgmental, and unabashedly steeped in the language of faith. I'm not in a place in my walk where I need this book, nor is it my style. But I can see how there are souls for whom this sort of thing would be a blessing.

Really good book. A lot of food for thought and for my soul. It enlarged my faith and realisation in the power I possess. The bonus features and the principles were really helpful. T D Jake's never disappoints.

I generally like T.D. Jakes, but I found this book for be without a lot of substance. It's a somewhat inspirational book, but there's not a lot of depth in it.
