There’s really nothing quite like the youth and innocence of a first love. Mallory and her twin brother, Sam, have been friends with Jake Summerford for years, always picking up where they left off the previous summer when they return to their great grandfather's place on Magnolia Sound. But the summer after Mallory turns twenty, Jake sees her in a whole new light, and even the fact that he’s Sam's best friend and four years older than Mallory can’t keep him from acting on his new feelings. For Mallory, it’s been a long time coming, because she's had a crush on Jake most of her life.
The small beach community of Magnolia Sound is one of those fictional places I would make my permanent home, if possible. I adore the Westbrook family, but especially Pops, the family patriarch who makes me wish immortality were possible, even in contemporary romance. The setting is vivid and the characters colorful, inviting the reader to immerse herself in this delightful story.
Sunkissed Days is the beginning of Jake and Mallory's story and covers one glorious summer of them falling in love and capturing every possible moment of time together before reality intrudes and they both leave Magnolia Sound for college. Chase captures the sweet innocence of their young love through her writing style and by leaving the details of intimate encounters to the reader's imagination. This beautifully written, poignant story will whet your appetite for the rest of Jake and Mallory's journey to forever, which we'll get in Remind Me. You’ll be happiest if you read these two books together, and I have no doubt you’ll love these characters as much as I do!
