For readers who feel there is something missing in their daily walk with God, Gloria Copeland explains that relationship-learning to talk with and listen to God in daily encounters-is what will change their lives. Knowing God requires a lifestyle of communion with Him. While religion creates numbing routine, relationship ignites the power to overcome sin and to prosper in every area of life. Regularly communicating with God strengthens believers, builds their faith, and makes way for them to lay hold of all God's blessings through Jesus Christ. Warm, personal, and inspiring, TO KNOW HIM is a friendly guide to discovering an exciting, promising relationship with God.

Great book. Spiritually inspiring with many points on how to improve upon your walk with God and how to abide in His Presence. Highly recommend to anyone seriously interested in dedicating their life to Jesus.
It is a Christian book, based on your relationship with God. My only criticism is that it is fairly vocabulary intensive. I would recommend this for a mature Christian, but not for a baby Christian... They would be lost and not know what was being talked about. Also, a word of caution, this comes from the context of the Faith Movement, so if that's not YOUR Christian thing, this isn't the book for you.
As with any resource that is designed to bring you closer to our Lord, Gloria's straight forwarded faith inspires you to put God's words in front of you every morning, evening, and those in-between times. Yet, there is so much more to a relationship with our Lord! It also means rebuking the deceiver; speaking/praying scripture into your heart; learning to obedient to God's word; and listening to His will for every decision in your life. With pen in hand I found my journal filling up with scriptural passages, God's promises, and prayer-filled pronouncements. One section a night blessed my evening prayer. Everything i was looking to read at this time. It was timely, gentle but empowering to someone who is looking to become strong in their faith and renew their trust in God. Excellent read.
I love this book; and I love Gloria's Spirit. The book touches on many subjects, but I think it's focus is to help believers learn how to trust/depend on the Holy Spirit for guidance as they deepen their walk with God and run victoriously to the finish line. I particularly love it when authors write and share their personal experiences (rather than just quoting scriptures and talking from start to finish. Yes, talking; because when authors write, they're actually talking), and Gloria does just that in this book.
One testimony I loved so much was about a woman who was led by the LORD to give Gloria a Diamond Ring. That woman was just learning to listen, recognize, and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. The LORD spoke to her heart to go give Gloria her precious Diamond Ring, but she really wanted to be sure, so she prayed and asked the LORD, "If you're really the one speaking to my heart, please let Gloria sit by my side at the eatery tomorrow morning. That woman left her house the following morning, went to that eatery, and just sat there, waiting for her confirmation. That same morning, the LORD woke Gloria up very early (in a manner that even Gloria never considered an act of God), and stirred her up to go get some of her favourite food at the same eatery. Gloria landed at the eatery, and finally found herself at the back seat, exactly next to that woman. In fact, Gloria says that she was so closely seated to the woman, anything closer would have meant siting on her leg. That woman bursted into tears as she brought out her precious Diamond Ring, presented it Gloria, and confessed that she was actually crying because she was just learning to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the LORD was so merciful to teach her in this manner: I must confess, I also shed some tears when I read that part.
God is truly a merciful God, and is always willing to teach and lead us, if we avail ourselves. This book is a must-read; I definitely recommend it.
The very back of the books reads: "What if one morning you found Jesus sitting at your breakfast table?" Your schedule would instantly change. Priorities would be re-arranged. Somehow, those things that have to be done now would just have to wait. Why? Because you have an opportunity to talk with Jesus! Very inspiring!
I didn't agree with everything she said, but most of it. She emphasizes that spending time in prayer and the word are essential for the Christian life (which I do agree with). This book could have been shorter and gotten the same point across. Full of scripture to back up what she says.
This book is excellent, relevant and full of wisdom. I am reading it with my church book club connect group. This book was a great encouragement to seek a closer bond with God and making a daily choice to make time for Him.
The cover says "Beyond Religion Waits a Relationship That Will Change Your Life". This book explains ways to grow in our personal relationship with Christ.
