This is the compelling saga of men and women torn between family and tradition, ambition and fame, passion and need...a story of the troubled and talented Daniel Kirschbaum, whose struggle to rise above his poor immigrant heritage becomes the driving force in his life.
Lewis Orde was born in Reading, England, in 1943, grew up in London and came to the United States in 1964. After serving three years in the U. S. Army, he returned to England to work on newspapers and magazines before settling permanently in the United States in 1977. He is the author of twelve novels including The Lion's Way, Eagles, By Blood Divided, and Dreams of Gold.
I began by learning about Tay Sachs, opera and Jewish Americans but, ultimately, the lessons from The Lion's Way stemmed from the growth of a selfish, one-dementional man into someone whose flaws could be overcome to live a life approaching greatness and honor.
Excellent book. A long read but well worth it as it followed the career of Daniel Kerr a lyric tenor. Introduced the world of opera and the Jewish community. I enjoyed it very much.
