Yes, well...
Chloe is a singer, trying to earn a living, unaware that she is the illegitimate daughter of a mafia boss (why do I read mafia stuff??); Silas and his team (all ex- CIA - OK how did that come about??) aim to control all 5 mafia bosses in their area (by obvious means!); and they meet when Chloe performs at a function (?) in a "gentleman's" club (with an outcome which is totally unnecessary!!)
Fine: Silas wants Chloe; Chloe hasn't a clue but submits to his advances.
Aaaaand... it's rather OTT with the spankings/fuckings etc...there is NO WAY anyone could deal without aftercare/epsom baths/arnica/etc etc that Chloe experiences with Silas.
Fine: it's "rough" love - but to my mind, there's no relationship/love involved at all.
OK if you're happy with hard/unkind sexual situations; but, tbh, Silas is just a thoughtless thug.

Ok that made my ass hurt! Dang if she got spanked or F-ed in the ass one more time I think I could feel her pain. I am up for kink and rough, but sometimes this book just seemed over the top.

Poor Chloe, she's a great singer, but doesn't know who she really is. That's the start of her pet training and punishments as she learns that she and Silas are meant to be. Silas is a mob boss, one of the strongest of 5 heads of the different families and to keep Chloe safe, he must train her to trust him with her life. Naturally once word gets out, Chloe is in danger from all the mob heads and only Silas, along with his group of former government agents who call themselves the seven, can protect her from certain death. The relationship between Silas and Chloe is interesting to say the least, she wants him, he wants her, but it will be his way, which includes kitten ears, tail and collar along with obedience and punishments. Chloe must learn to trust Silas completely and instantly if she's to survive. Chloe learns that she can trust Silas as she learns that she likes most everything he makes her feel. I envied all that Silas provided Chloe with, but definitely not her punishments. This is a raging fire of hotness, sex, pet play and submission that will keep you focused on the story, like me, and maybe even forget you have limits. I was so into the story my tablet died on me without realizing it was losing power lol

I never thought these words would come out of me...but there really is such a thing as too much sex in a book. I think it encompassed close to 85% of this book.
From the first few chapters you will know if this is for you. You will meet the men who rule the underworld of New York and witness the H, Silas, in all his brutality. This man gives ZERO F’s when it comes to taking what he wants, and the beautiful Chloe is going to be his by the end of the night. Misreading the room she’s in, Chloe sass’ Silas and learns the hard way that this was a mistake. Silas proceeds to punish her on stage, under bright lights, in front of the packed room. If his treatment bothers you don’t go any further, you will not enjoy the book. From there things delve further into the master/submissive role with heavy dubcon theme.
Overall I enjoyed the book, it just wasn’t fulfilling. It was cute to see Chloe as a singer but it was an inconsequential part of the plot line. And sadly the mafia/mob storyline that drew me in seemed an afterthought. I would have enjoyed spending more time getting to know the men on Silas’s team and learning about the five families. There is a lot of room for future books, should this be turned into a series of interconnected stories. Maybe we’ll be lucky and get to meet the rest of The Seven - Eric, Dean, Anthony, Michael, Daniel, and Julian - in the near future.

This is very bad BDSM representation. At no point is consent given, or a safeword even discussed. “But she enjoyed it” is not consent, and the fact that the chapters from her POV make it clear she doesn't want it, and is in active pain during most of it, makes this nothing more than rape porn.
Even beyond that, the writing is terrible. Chloe likes to pretend she’s strong and independent, but the moment she’s told “no” she just folds and goes along with whatever is being done to her, be it get raped on a stage in front of an audience, parade half naked in front of her captor's household staff, sleep in a cage and be constantly sodomized without lube. Even the start of the book, with the heckler and her first meeting with Silas, is deeply stupid. What kind of professional throws a drink on the face of a calm audience member that actively helped her out of a bad situation?
She also claims she wants to earn stardom with her own hands but never questions the mystery phone that randomly appears at her home, with an offer to open for Ariana Grande. She knows she only got that gig because of Silas and still claims she got her success out of her own accord.
And even if you can look past the unlikeable characters and bad BDSM, there’s the fact that the writing is nothing bust constant repetition of the same scenario. She’s told not to do a thing, she does it anyway, gets punished for it. The only semblance of a plot happens on the first and last chapter, and it’s as bad as the rest of the book.
Just a bad experience all around.

This was filthy and awesome. I loved watching Chloe and Silas together.
Silas was an interesting character. I think that he is really strong, but he also wants to take care of Chloe and make sure that she has everything that she possibly could ever dream of. He wants her to obey him and wants to claim her and hide her away, but he also lets her sit in on his business meetings and lets her know what is going on in his professional life.
Chloe is also really strong. I have the feeling that she would run anyone else completely over, but Silas definitely won't let that be happening, for sure. I think that she both wants and doesn't want her freedom, and that being with Silas gives her freedom in another way.
Silas was an interesting character. I think that he is really strong, but he also wants to take care of Chloe and make sure that she has everything that she possibly could ever dream of. He wants her to obey him and wants to claim her and hide her away, but he also lets her sit in on his business meetings and lets her know what is going on in his professional life.

This is blistering hot
I don’t even know where to begin this book is volcanic hot it’s quite dark but because you know she wants it deep down there is nothing you can do but just thoroughly enjoy this book and except that they are working as one. It is out of this world the passion is off the charts their connection is like their one he knows what she’s thinking.
Okay so let’s say a bit about the storyline here so you have got Chloe Banks who is a singer and she is singing at a gentleman‘s club but when one of the gentleman if you can call him that starts clearing and making lewd comments Chloe does what Chloe does best in her sassy self she stands up to him. But when a gentleman tries to help her out Chloe doesn’t except it ending up throwing a drink over his face. This change their life forever.
Nobody messed with Silas Romano. And the young lady on the stage was just about to learn a very valuable lesson. But what she didn’t know was that she was a very valuable person to Silas and many people would kill her to keep her from Taking over one of the Mafia families. But for now she needed to learn her lesson he didn’t care that he was in the middle of a club and people would see that was part of her punishment. What happen next changed everything.
Dear me!!! have a fire extinguisher to hand this book Is pure passion. Do not read this on the way home on the train because you will have a bright red face it is that hot. I swear I had reviewed this last year. As I'm cleaning out my Kindle, I came across my Sara Fields phase. If you're interested in a quick fix, Fields does some great writing. She does tend to repeat some of the initial courtship meetcutes (in this and His Majesty, the hero and heroine immediately engage in exhibitionist punishment).

This is a really entertaining romance with a somewhat dark undertone & I really enjoyed reading it. The well-written plot has good world building & has some very intriguing situations that are well-described. The characters have complex personalities with good chemistry between them & as they grow emotional closer they actually complementing each other. There is good support from the secondary characters.

This is a dark romance with a strong D/S and punishment element to it. If you have read any of this author's previous works, then you know roughly what to expect (except without aliens). The story is well written and the characters well developed giving you a solid core of a story. Add to that excellent chemistry between the characters (even when they are denying it), a bit of spanking and lots of steam and you have the formula for success. Overall, this was a highly enjoyable story and I look forward to more from this author.

Her agent getting her the singing gig at Bar Emporia was the biggest contract she'd had so far. Unfortunately, every gig came with its own heckler or two. This one was no different, or so she thought. After giving as good as she got one of the other patrons, Silas stepped in and immediately took charge of the situation. When Chloe felt insulted Silas bought her a drink. That only seems to rile her more and she wound up throwing the drink in his face. That incident is what brought the entire meeting of the five crime bosses to an end and started the beginning of Chloe's education into who she was biologically and physically. And Silas was just the person to teach her. This is a heavy-handed D/s, pet play relationship. There could be certain scenes that may set-off triggers if you're prone so take that into consideration. The storyline and scenes are intense, both physically and emotionally. Overall, if you enjoy a dark, mafia, D/s read then this is one for you.

first I just wanna say that I’m probably not the target audience of this book so don’t take the rating too seriously. :) I picked it up because it sounded interesting and seemed to have a HEA. I thought I would enjoy it but I just couldn’t get into the characters nor did I care for their relationship/story.
So the first scene where he punishes her in front of the crowd after she throw a drink on him wasn’t my cup of tea. And felt too long just like all the other sex scenes and punishments. Also she literally got punished for small little things or for not saying what he wanted her to say and got some harsh punishments(which are her thing but still).And considering that the book takes place mostly in two days to three days at the beginning so it made me wonder if her body got to heal or not. And Silas can’t expect Chloe to just obey him because he has the power and is “his pet” now. That’s takes time considering you’ve known each other for maybe three days at that point to a month by the end. But then again it’s dark romance.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Chloe Banks is an up and coming singer who booked a very lucrative but shady show in an upscale bar. The setting was small and intimate. One man stood out from the rest as the leader. Silas wanted her instantly but needed her as well. This was a perfect storm situation. Their first meeting started with a drink thrown in his face and ended with a live spanking on stage and him getting satisfied by her mouth backstage
This is the first book I have read from Sara Fields and I definitely will be reading more. Somehow she was able to me okay with some very uncomfortable situations. I don’t condone any of the acts detailed in this book but was okay with it because Chloe was okay with it. More than okay with it, she needed it. This book explores some serious sexual themes of a man owning a woman and keeping her as a pet. But there was so much more here. The Mafia is involved from the very beginning and Silas protects what is his. Chloe is his in every way. I love how sassy Chloe is despite knowing that with sassiness comes severe punishment and complete ecstasy.
This book keeps your interest and though Silas’ ways are a little disturbing, readers can grow to love him because he will move heaven and earth to protect what is his. There is not just sex here. There is a story. It is almost written like a really good porno film. You see these scenes play out as they are described in such a detailed way. If this is your first time reading this author, this book will definitely knock you off your block but so entertaining that you will not put it down.

Silas knew that the new power of the Genovese was going to be hard to find but he had to find her first. All the mafia groups would be plotting to take over. The kitten on stage was a distraction. She was gorgeous but her claws were striking at the wrong man. Silas was going to have to tame and protect her. Chloe just wanted to do her gig at the club. But when a drunk jerk heckled her, she wasn’t about to let that stand. But she should have been careful. The man that helped was not the enemy but she sure made him one. She was about to back down and her butt was going to pay for it.
You have to love that Chloe was not a girl to be broken. She was a fighter. I think that was what drew her in with Silas. He loved that challenge. Yeah he was searching and found what he was seeking but trying to tame her was tough. Silas was cruel at times but I’m not sure if it was cruel or unbridled passion that he has for Chloe. From the first moment he saw her, he was stricken. Yes, he knew she was talented and would do everything to help her succeed but at the same time he wanted to protector. Chloe was so lost. She has a beautiful voice and wants to make it big in the world. But she doesn’t realize her world is far more dangerous. I was holding my breath when Silas was “training” her. Can you say OUCH? This one was full of action and even though I am not big on pet play especially use of a bowl, I get over it.
You have to love that Chloe was not a girl to be broken. She was a fighter. I think that was what drew her in with Silas. He loved that challenge. Yeah he was searching and found what he was seeking but trying to tame her was tough. Silas was cruel at times but I’m not sure if it was cruel or unbridled passion that he has for Chloe. From the first moment he saw her, he was stricken. Yes, he knew she was talented and would do everything to help her succeed but at the same time he wanted to protector. Chloe was so lost. She has a beautiful voice and wants to make it big in the world. But she doesn’t realize her world is far more dangerous. I was holding my breath when Silas was “training” her. Can you say OUCH? This one was full of action and even though I am not big on pet play especially use of a bowl, I get over it.

Contradiction
I wanted to enjoy this book and some parts I did but on the whole this book was just a contradiction on every page it seems.
The book opens with Silas talking about his friend who he loved and she was like a sister to him and he wants to find her lost child and protect them only for the first thing he does when he finds said child (now an adult) is degrade, humiliate and SA her in a room full of the people he should be protecting her from, thus putting her on their radar.
He is supposedly part of an organisation called The Seven and the other 6 have also vowed to protect the girl but are happy to stand by as Silas turns her into his pet in a not completely consensual way.
Pet play is fine and elements of it were written well in the book however Silas’ character is nothing short of a sadist. He punishes Chloe excessively often for no real transgression and purely for his own sexual gratification. The author makes sure to tell us how aroused she is by what’s being done to her but it seems forced in more ways than one. There was also little to no after care.
I’d also suggest the author use a thesaurus because they used the word keened twenty times and it became annoying and just made things seem repetitive. There were also several editing errors.
I love forced proximity books, I love bdsm books, I could have loved this book

What happens when a great singer in an upscale bar like Chloe Banks crosses the line and attacks a mob boss by throwing her drink all over him, well you get punished there and then with a sound spanking in front of everyone and the most embarrassing part is she hated it and liked it at the same time. Silas is instantly attracted to Chloe and wants more from her and when she throws a drink all over him she opened the door to there new arrangement that they both need, he wants a new pet in ever sense of the word, ears, tail, collar. But with his new pet comes with challenges not only from her but from the other 4 mafia kingpins that want to take him and his pet down for good, can Silas keep her safe and protected at all cost from the other mafia bosses and finish her training or will he lose her forever. There is so much more to this book and if pet play, doms/ subs rough sex scenes, are your thing than your going to love this book if it’s not your thing then then don’t bother.

Just Wow!!! What a brilliant story this was to read... Sara has really nailed this one on the head, with the extreme hotness and a really great storyline to boot.
Silas( i just loved his character) is now head of Mafia and that included other Mafia in the organization. He uses his power mostly for the good, but now he is on the lookout for one particular person. And before the night is out he has found his prey!! He wont let her go, he will keep her for himself as his pet.
Chloe, it was her first night getting a break , singing. Her temper gets the best of her when she flings a glass of whiskey in Silas face..... result a painful and hulimating spanking. Before she knows it she is whisked away to his place, and found out who she really is, and that some people want her dead!!!!!!~
lol i stayed awake late to keep reading this... and yes its just one of those that you cant and dont want to put down. For a terriffic book i have definately given a 5 star plus.

This book is a bit difficult to review and it certainly isn't for everyone. There are many very descriptive sexual scenes with severe punishments. Chloe is an young singer who makes a big mistake by throwing a drink in the face of a powerful man, Silas. He decides she needs punished for that and does it the most embarrassing way, in front of the club's audience! That scene is certainly not for the squeamish! Silas is a sadist but Chloe finds herself being aroused by his actions. I thought some of his punishments were a little over the top and really intense. The romance makes Silas human. I liked the characters, even though I don't understand the love of pain, but to each his own. The plot is secondary to the depiction of the lifestyle. Still I really enjoyed this book and will certainly read more by Ms Fields

There was a lot to really like about this book. Silas is a dark, alpha leader of one of five mafia families running this city. One of these families leaders was just murdered and it comes out that there is a girl hidden from birth that is entitled to take over this family. The other three families want her dead, but Silas wants her alive and on his side. When he discovers the singer in a club that he is intensely attracted to could be her, he tales control. There are a ton a twists and turns along the way, some pretty tough punishments for poor Chloe to endure, but she discovers a part of herself she wasn't aware of. I loved the underlying story about Silas and his team, the Seven. Could there be 6 more books in this series?? I would love that. Great action packed, steamy fast paced read..

Congrats to Sara Fields for putting it all out there.
This is strictly not for the faint hearted, whilst reading the synopsis and having an understanding of contents be prepared for the unexpected. No spoiling, but the main contents of the storyline are within the first few chapters. From there on really, ‘Pet’ actually starts taking its meaning.
If you cannot read topics on -degradation/sexual abuse/punishment/Domination etc do bypass this read. There is nothing worse than having a synopsis presented and the reader takes offence and degrades a book. One must always understand, - this is a story by an author & yes, it does happen in reality but there is also consensual sex as well.
Back to the book itself, there was a lot happening, good start - heavy preparation - ups and downs - acceptance - almost quick conclusion. I’d definitely say, this was a standalone novel.

The absolute WORST waste of time and money!
What a waste of money!! If I could give half a star I would have. I PHYSICALLY couldn’t finish after about 80%.
I LOVE dark reads, Kidnapping, forced marriage, mafia under world sex slave, you name it but this was so painful. No character development, no depth, no backstory further than the book blob, no realistic dialogue and definitely no emotional building interactions, nothing redeemable about this book.
Female h, doesn’t get a say in her own life, can’t have questions or thoughts of her own coz the only word H wants to hear is yes, and saying no gets you unreasonably punished, but she LOVES him within 24hours. I hate it when authors don’t classify these types of books as pure EROTICA, that way I KNOW there will be NO actual goddamn story and I won’t buy it.. RAGING MAD!!
