THE WAR BROUGHT FORWARD THE TRUTH; THIS COUNTRY IS OF BENGALIS, NOT OF MUSLIMS. THE LANGUAGE IS IMPORTANT HERE, NOT THE RELIGION. KALYANI FELT LIKE STOPPING THE RICKSHAW AT ONCE. SHE WANTED TO SHOW AWAY THE SOIL STICKING ALL OVER HER BODY. THE LOVE FOR IT WAS NOT GOING TO ALLOW HER TO LOVE ANY OTHER LAND NOW. MAN LOVES ONLY ONE SOIL, IT IS SO OBVIOUS. KALYANI HAS COME TO HER MOTHERLAND. SHE WANTS TO FEEL THE SOIL, SMELL IT SHE WAS BORN FROM THAT SOIL, SHE WAS NOT BORN FROM ANY WOMB.....

আশ্চর্যের কথা এই যে, লেখিকার অনেক মতামত বা বলা যায় বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে অপ্রয়োজনীয় মতামত প্রকাশের অভ্যাসকে অপছন্দ করে এসেছি বরাবর। কিন্তু এই বইখানা হাতে নিয়ে লেখনীর মায়ায় জড়িয়ে পড়লাম। এই যে আমি ক্রিয়েটর আর ক্রিয়েশনের মধ্যে একটা লাইন টেনে তাদের আলাদা করে দেখতে শিখেছি, এটা ভেবে মন ভাল হয়ে গেল।

I just loved it....What an amazing touching story woven around the life of a young girl who has to leave her country and settle in Kolkatta. The ties of human bonding which die a death a sensitive heart cannot escape. My father always takes of his days in his village and we always somehow always failed to understand as young kids what he must be going through while telling us his memoirs. the life and people and land left behind and so much more

Phera || Homecoming by ‘Taslima Nasreen’ has been in my #tbr list for long. I happen to read this book just a few days ago and here goes the review: ‘Phera’ is a poignant tale of a woman who due to unforeseen circumstances prevailing in Bengal because of partition had to leave her parents, first love and most importantly her ‘home’. After facing many hardships and hurdles of life she somehow managed to make a family and home of her own in a city which she still considers ‘foreign’. Yet her heart yearned to smell the air, drink the water and to meet the people of her native place. And when after long 30 years she finally could set her foot on her motherland, the place she had always considered home, the people she thought were her friends have changed so drastically to her dismay that she felt more like an alien. Here the author has beautifully narrated her languishing desire to go to her home in such an intricate way that I felt it was more of her (author’s) reminiscence than that of the protagonist’s. The story itself reminded me of the tales told by my father about the times he spent his childhood in undivided Bengal before the Partition.

দেশ ছাড়া মানুষ গুলোর কষ্ট ওই দেশ থেকে হাজার মাইল দূরে থাকা মানুষ গুলো ছাড়া কেউ বুঝবে না। নিজের দেশের মাটির টান টা যে কত নিবিড় সে শুধু তারাই জানে। আজও দেশ থেকে হাজার হাজার মাইল দূরে থেকেও এখনও স্পষ্ট মনে পড়ে গেটের উপর সেই গোলাপী রঙের মাধবীলতা গাছটা, সেই ব্রহ্মপুত্র নদীর ওপর ওই নৌকা গুলো , সেই দূর থেকে ভেসে আসা মিষ্টি ভাতিওয়ালি এর সুর, সেই সুন্দর সবুজ মাঠ, আজ ও দেখতে ইচ্ছে করে সেই কলেজের পুকুরপাড়ের সেই শিমুল গাছ টাকে। সেই দেশ ছিল সবার আপন। সেখানে কেউ হিন্দু না, কেউ মুসলিম না সবাই ছিল মানুষ। কোনো ভেদাভেদ ছিল না। বড্ড শান্তি ছিল। বড্ড পিছু ডাকে। কেবলই ডাকে।
তাই ফিরতে চায়। ফিরতে তো হবেই কথা দিয়ে ছিল যে সে, ফিরবেই একদিন।একদিন যে শান্তির জন্য দেশ ছেড়েছিল , সেই শান্তি এর তল্লাসে এই ফিরতে চায়। জড়িয়ে ধরতে চায় করে বালিকাবেলার প্রীয় বন্ধু কে। কিন্তু ফিরতে চাইলেই কি ফেরা যায়?? ফেরা কি সহজ?

কিন্তু দীর্ঘ তিরিশ বছরে সেই দেশ অনেক আলাদা হয়ে গেছে। তার প্রাণের সেই দেশ এ একটা ভূমিকম্পে সব ওলোট পালোট হয়ে গেছে। ঝরে উরে গছে গাছগুলো। সেই ব্রহ্মপুত্র আজ অন্য অন্য বাকে চলে গেছে।

এই গল্প শুধু কল্যানির না, ও দেশ ছেড়ে আসা যেকোনো মানুষের গল্প। এই কাহিনী তদের যারা আজও নিজের দেশ কে ভুলতে পারে না প্রতিমুহূর্তে। এই কাহিনী পৃথিবী এর হাজার হাজার মানুষের যারা আজও রিফিউজি।

ধরণঃ স্মৃতিচারণ মূলক


দীর্ঘ ৩০ বছর পর জন্মভূমিতে ফিরে এসে, ফেলে আসা বন্ধু-বান্ধব, খেলাধূলা, লুকোচুরি ইত্যাদি খোঁজতে গিয়ে কল্যাণী, গল্পের মূল চরিত্র, তাঁর ছেলে দীপনকে সাথে নিয়ে যে স্মৃতিচারণ করেছে, তা আমার মতো যারা স্মৃতিকে আঁকড়ে ধরতে চায় তাদের সবচেয়ে পছন্দের একটা বই হবে।
পড়ার সময় অনেকগুলো ভেবে চিন্তে রেখেছিলাম, একটা ভালো রিভিউ দিব বলে,কিন্তু...!

বইটিতে অসাধারণ কোন কাহিনী নেই, কল্যাণী তাঁর ফেলে আসা দিনগুলোকেই বারবার তুলে ধরতে গিয়ে কয়েক মুঠো মাটি ব্যাগের ভেতর রেখে দেওয়া, ব্রহ্মপুত্র নদী নিয়ে ছেলের সাথে গল্প করা, টিউবওয়েলের পানি খেতে চাওয়া, গাছকে জড়িয়ে ধরে কান্না করা, শৈশবের বান্ধবীকে জড়িয়ে ধরার ইচ্ছে সবগুলো ছোট্ট ছোট্ট বিষয়ই অসাধারণ ভাবে ফুটিয়ে তুলেছে।

Another book of with little cruel story how one lost her motherland forever. About a girl going back to Bangladesh after spending 30years here in India for a visit. And how she find the things of her own are changed forever. The false memory that she had always dear to her heart are lost forever.
Not the best of Taslima in my opinion, but worth ur money and time.
