Risa's getting really confused about her feelings for Ôtani--she doesn't know if she wants to help him get back together with his ex-girlfriend or keep him all to herself!

They're much cuter as "All Hanshin-Kyojin" than a typical shoujo manga love match. I can't remember if I got far enough with it before to see if "why not both?" was a factor.
review on IG: @xojazzle AHHHH ALREADY OFF TO SUCH A GOOD START!! I feel like sometimes it takes a little bit of time to get into a manga series, but I’m already EEPPPP. I love the anticipation of waiting for a couple to get together & here ITS WAITING FOR THEM TO REALIZE THE FEELINGS THEY HAVE FOR EACH OTHER. just like the anime, risa has certain feelings when it comes to otani but she doesn’t understand them yet. She gets jealous, sad, and happy when he does certain things and she doesn’t know why (duh bc ur in love!) they genuinely care for one another and I think that’s what makes their friendship so much fun. Bc you know at the end of the day they care but they will still constantly bicker and tease the one another. Some of my fav scenes in this volume: otani and risa going to the sea monk concert on Christmas, otani asking questions about Haruka (jealousy?), otani asking for a chocolate cake, risa being upset he didn’t take her Valentine, nakou and nobu telling otani he has feelings for risa hahah but he denies it, and otani apologizing for not accepting the Valentine. IM SCREAMING BC IM SO EXCITED FOR THEM TO GET TOGETHER AND REALIZE THEIR FEELINGS! I’m living for this anticipation.
having the friends be writing the thought bubbles to help the lead figure out the feelings he desperately doesn't want to think about. then having him call them out for it is so meta. peak comedy!
also the author started talking about complicated, hard nipples in her author's note. i can see how this story came from her mind truly.
Volume 2, and the romantic misunderstandings continue. An ex-girlfriend of Ôtani's shows up and she is a cute little thing that looks just like Chiharu. Maybe Ôtani does have a type after all. Risa convinces herself that the ex has shown up because she wants to get back together with Ôtani and does all she can to help that happen.
Meanwhile, a really tall and really handsome guy catches Risa up in a bear hug. It is Haruka, an old friend from grade school. Back then he was the target of bullies and Risa defended him, so he's got a crush on her. Nice as he is to Risa, though, he is a real jerk to Ôtani. As Risa continues to defend Ôtani to Haruka, he asks her the same question everyone else is thinking--is she in love with Ôtani? Is Ôtani in love with Risa?
It's pretty cute how this progressed from volume 1 with both Otani and Risa having love interests pop up and interfere with their progressing relationship.
I love Otani's height issue and Risa's pride and how both faults exacerbate any situation between them. (Like the Valentine's cake!) Haruka actually makes me mad! I loved the Christmas Umibozu concert at the last minute! A real turning point to me.
Their friends are so cute like the long time couple (made up of Otani's and Risa's best mates) who always has an opinion and example to weigh in with.
Chicas of course!
So the "they only act like they don't like each other because they are uncomfortable admitting they like each-other" plot continues. Nakahara ups the tension a bit by first introducing an old girlfriend of Otani and then an old schoolmate of Risa's with a huge crush on her, which was honestly a real relief because oh my goodness is the gender policing and pressure to conform strong with this one. At least once her old schoolmate shows up we get to hear at least one person appreciate Risa for who she is and not wish she was shorter, more delicate, and/or more ladylike.
Unfortunately for myself, this sort of gender policing probably made the series that much more relatable to my own life. I assume that things will become a bit more accepting once they finally admit to liking each other, which I do believe happens before the end? Honestly, I have no idea. I decided to reread this series and by gosh that's what I'm going to do.
The (not yet) love story of Koizumi and Otani continues!
Misunderstanding is abundant as their (not yet) love is strained by third parties and their own foolishness when it comes to each other.
Koizumi is battling herself and subsequently denying her new found feelings for the shrimp. All the while Otani remains oblivious to her obvious signs of interest.
This volume reads like pure unbridled fluff and I love that. I swear when I read these things I look like a crazy person. I just can't help it if I'm giggling like a loon! The utter cuteness is too much to bare.
3.5 stars ^^ it's getting better... there are some parts where the difference seems more awful then other times, lol. But the two of them are amazing, adorable and funny!

While this is still so much your typical manga, with the 'wrong' two people winding up attracted to one another, the relationship that is building here is rather deep and solid, which makes me really like this book. There is nothing superficial about any of the characterizations - and in fact some rather deep topics are introduced at the end of this volume that carries over into the next. I'm pleased to see gender issues addressed so honestly, and the reactions of those around them, doesn't go for the cheap humor, but rather takes the storyline intelligently - a fact that I do love.
So a love story between a girl that's too tall, and a boy that's too short - in fact becomes something a whole lot more meaningful. This is one of my favorites, and a series that I would like very much to own.
Risa and Otoni’s classmates all think the two are a pair. The two are quick to deny it… Otoni’s ex-girlfriend shows up and Risa jumps to conclusion. She decides to help him get back with his ex… however, she feels conflicted. The shoe falls on the other foot when Risa’s childhood friend starts monopolizing her time. This guy keeps picking a fight with Otoni.. He is not exactly thrilled at seeing Risa with this guy either…
I actually picked up the first two volumes from my local library. The premise looked like something I might enjoy. And boy did I ever. This is a teenage, high school romantic comedy. I smiled through all two volumes. I will definitely be checking out the rest
I really liked this volume, I ship Risa and Ōzumi very much and I´m very happy that they are noticing that they have feelings for each other. It was very funny when Nobu and her boyfriend started to put Ōzami´s thoughts into comic bubbles. The first part of the volume was really good, it was nice to see Ōtami´s ex because we got to see a little bit of his backstory and when Ōtami went to the concert instead to the dinner my heart melted. However, in the second part they introduced Haruka and he is straight up annoying and very controlling, i hate him. But overall I loved this volume.
