I had two grievances with this book. The first was the original french titles of the works ruining my flow of reading by trying to pronounce them in my head. I’d much rather them be translated to English. My second being that the illustrations did not match up with the text so combined with the french names, it was difficult to remember which ones the text was talking about.
Other than it, it’s always a pleasure to read about this period of French art and being my first book on Degas, I feel that it gave me an apt introduction.
„Голям оригинал е този Дега, малко болнав, невротичен тип, с болни очи, та чак се страхува, че ще изгуби зрението си, но може би именно заради това е свръхчувствителен и прониква в същината на нещата. Според мен това е човекът, който най-добре от всички умее, копирайки съвременния живот, да прозре в душата му.“
