One of the leading stars in the "positive thinking" movement, Zig Ziglar has made a career out of telling people how to have a positive attitude, no matter what their circumstances are. But when a fall down a stairway onto a marble floor leaves him with a head injury, he is challenged with how to put the principles he'd been speaking about into practice. Ziglar's willingness to be transparent has him back writing and speaking with renewed energy before audiences in the tens of thousands to show that life on life's terms is still well worth living. Embrace the Struggle affirms the validity of the principles Ziglar has held true his entire life and includes not only his account of living positively through difficult circumstances; it also includes heartwarming stories of real people who encouraged him with how they put into practice these vital principles.

What would you do if you were the "king" of positive thinking and had always been in popular demand as a motivational speaker, and suddenly you find yourself unable to remember past the end of your sentences? What if you could not stand up straight, all due to a head injury sustained in a fall. Would you sit down and say, hey I am eighty two and it is time to retire? Not Zig Ziglar. He works with what he has, and has developed a totally new strategy for speaking and ministering. This book that he and his daughter co-authored, shares those struggles, along with the struggles of other people they have come into contact with. A book written to show us that bumps in the road are just that, bumps, not roadblocks. We can go on in the midst of trying times. Definitely a book to read if your in the midst of a struggle, if you think quitting is your only option. An encouraging book, filled with stories of overcomers. 204 pages $23.99 US 4 stars

What a wonderful opportunity to get to know such a great man on a whole new level. Zig has always been inspiring but this book brought a new dimension to his inspiration with his authentic, transparent, no holes barred presentation of his traumatic experience and the impact to both him and his family. Not only presenting his experience but those of so many others to bring a broad range presentation to life's struggles and the many varieties that they come in. Demonstrating time and again the blessing that comes from life's struggles and the strength that comes from embracing them. A wonderful opportunity to gain perspective, understanding and appreciation for your own past, present and future struggles in life. The added bonus in this book is to get to know an amazing man on a level that provides a glimpse into the frailty that comes to us all at some point. I have always loved him from a distance as a man of great integrity and a source of inspiration but after reading this book you can't help but love him like family. Thanks Zig for showing us what life is really all about!
Are you looking for something inspirational to read? Embrace the Struggle is just what you need. Zig Ziglar is best known for his motivational speeches. he openly shares his faith. This is a compilation of success stories of people who have overcome major obstacles. Zig's own tragic accident that left him with a permanent brain injury inspired this book. For those who may have wondered about how positive he was in real life wiil find he not only talks the talk but walks the walk. You don't have to be in sales to enjoy this book. You just need a desire to want to change things in your life. I have had the privilege of listening to him speak a couple of times when I was in my early twenties. His positive message still rings true today.
I have read many of Zig Ziglar's books even though I am not much of a non-fiction fan. Mr Ziglar has a way of writing that lends a fiction feel to a non-fiction topic, its truly amazing. This book makes you think and feel your way through life's problems, and helps your reaction to each problem you face turn more and more towards a solution as opposed to just crying about it all. I do give it four stars because Mr. Ziglar is very religious and this book has a STRONG Christian undercurrent that, as being not Christian, completely turned me off for most of the actual message...but I did read it and I got the point, however heavily saturated, I just substituted my own religious Diety in for his and then it was great
Not as great as I hoped it would be. I understood and fully appreciated the message he was delivering, but I felt that he was just a little too preachy and too light on the more practical aspects - which is probably Zig's point to be honest; sometimes in life when we face struggles in life there's nothing our limited human minds and logic can do to help our situation, so the only logical thing to do is to put our faith in something that seems completely illogical. Still, I felt the book overall was pretty weak and not as powerful and inspirational as it was intended to be. I think I'll stick with John C Maxwell for now.
Execellent! Helped me to understand some of what my significant other might be going thru as she had to have brain surgery suddenly for a AV Fistula which is a tangle of blood vessels that was in the back lower part of her brain and left her with frontal lobe deficeits and unable to perform her job as a Nurse. I got the book for her to read first, then I read it as I am a huge Zig Ziglar fan. I recommended it for anyone who has a loved on with head trauma and deals with the daily struggles.
A little simplistic perhaps, but an encouraging read for those who are dealing with the difficulties that life can bring us, especially as we grow older. Speaking from a Christian perspective, Zig Ziglar uses lots of examples, including his own recent struggles with a brain injury as the result of a fall.
I think this book was a waste of 193 pages... Not that it wasn't good, I just hate when a subject is so stretched out that it becomes tiring and annoying.. I couldn't finish it because of that... I think the first couple of chapters taught me the lesson. I guess I like self help books with an array of topics can't do just one.. Oh well on to the next.
I listened to this book - and Zig Ziglar reads it... He has had a traumatic brain injury at the age of 80 something - and still does a great job... It wasn't new or earth shattering information - but I enjoyed listening to the lessons and perspective of a man who has struggled, found some of life's truths - and built his career and life around those truths... Definitely food for thought...
I listened to this as an audio book, and Ziglar's reading ended up distracting me, as it seemed disjointed. I got through 5 3/4 of the 6 CDs and couldn't listen any more. The stories are motivational, but I know many motivational stories. Nothing new here.
Excellent book for anyone going through any kind of struggle or watching someone close to them struggle. Zig Ziglar offers inspiration and so many stories of others and hope in the struggles life brings.
I believe Zig Ziglar did a wonderful job of sharing with the reader how it is beneficial to embrace the struggles of life. The stories told of people who have experienced various types of struggles and how they have learned to embrace them added to the book.
Had a hard time getting into this one, my first book by Zig and I think it was one of the last ones he came out with. Needless to say, I'll have to read a few of the more classics in his collection...
I listened to the audiobook. Zig Ziglar's intonation and expressions are sometimes hard to listen to. This book is after his brain trauma, so the normal pausing and other normal cadence of reading were lacking.
This would be a support group in a cover to those going through very tough times. It's inspirational, encouraging, and hopeful. I can think of a few people who would greatly appreciate this book.
'Where There Is Struggle, There Is Life' Zig Ziglar the motivational speaker lives out what he has been communicating all his life. His faith & optimism encourages us that life is worth living.
There are people who we think have had a beautiful life: wealth, physical beauty, charisma, a good relationship, great children, and more.
But things are not always what they seem. In this book Zig Ziglar (a well-known author and motivator from the US) tells us about his life after a fall he had, in which he lost basic brain skills and short-term memory.
The fact is that he managed to overcome it as best as possible, without giving up. Which is what we all should do, when problems come we must embrace them and grow from them. The book deals with issues such as the death of a loved one (he tells of the death of his daughter), a divorce, financial problems.
It fell by chance on my wish list, I would not read it again.
Inspirational with religion as the cornerstone . People looking for an uplifting read should consider this. Knowing that you can get through and come out better is worth remembering
I read it before my bedtime usually. So many struggles that was shared really shred me tears and be thankful of all the struggles I face in life. Because these struggles build me up and I have slowly find myself too from them.
