Following the outstanding success of Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office, comes an audio box set which includes Dr. Lois Frankel's new work, Nice Girls Don't Get Rich and Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office, abridged into one comprehensive program. For every professional woman who wants to get ahead-but feels that she is at an impasse-NICE GIRLS DON'T GET...BOX SET comes to the rescue. From executive to entry level, single to married, every woman needs to know the subconscious 'girlish' behaviors that prevent her from developing a successful career and a healthy relationship with money-from self-sabotaging habits in the workplace to a reluctance to negotiate. Frankel offers help and motivation in recognizing these self-defeating behaviors to help women attain success at work as well as in their personal lives.
Dr. Lois Frankel, President of Corporate Coaching International, a Pasadena, California consulting firm, literally wrote the book on coaching people to succeed in businesses large and small around the globe. Her books Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office and Nice Girls Don’t Get Rich are international bestsellers translated into over twenty-five languages worldwide. Stop Sabotaging Your Career, a book based on her experiences as a pioneer in the field of business coaching working with everyone from CEOs to entry-level professionals, is a must-read for both men and women.
Just like with the books "Lean in," and "Basic Black" from other authors, as a Black woman I didn't feel as though this really applied to me or my situations. I feel like when you're Black and in corporate America it's hard to identify with books such as these, when they are written as all-encompassing rather than with exclusivity. However...I did take a lot away from the books, and put my best foot forward whenever I could. :)
I read it, got a promotion, and got a raise. Now I'm going to read it again and keep improving. I learned how to market myself and take credit when it's due, balance my personal and professional life, manage my time, communicate well and set good boundaries.
This was an excellent book. It is full of the many mistakes that we as women make in a search for career success. Once you read this book, you can see your mistakes AND how to correct them. I highly recommend these tips.
I preferred Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office over Nice Girls Don't Get Rich because I found the tips to be more useful. I appreciate Frankel's organizing each section into a mistake, some commentary and then a related coaching tip or two.
