Rev. M. Loy's "The Doctrine of Justification" is a classic exposition of the Lutheran concept of justification by faith. Matthias Loy (1828-1915) was an eminent Lutheran theologian, founder of the "Columbus Theological Magazine", President of the Ohio Synod, professor in the Theological Seminary of Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, editor of a three volume edition of "Dr. Martin Luther's House Postil" and much more. Lutheran Library refers to him as a "theological giant of American Lutheranism".
Despite "The Doctrine of Justification" being more than a hundred years old, the book is as fresh and as relevant as when it was first published. Rev. Loy's text is concise and impressively comprehensive, and it is highly recommended for pastors and theology students as well as for people who would like to know more about Lutheran Christianity. It is also recommended for Bible study groups and seminars.
This Blue Lutheran Classics edition contains the full text of the 2nd edition of "The Doctrine of Justification". The text has been carefully set in order to increase readability. This is the second book published in the Blue Lutheran Classics series, the first one (also available on Amazon) being G.H. Gerberding's "The Way of Salvation in the Lutheran Church".
Absolute must read for any Christian, beautiful presentation of the most blessed doctrine. I especially found the chapter on the means of reception extremely illuminating. But all chapters are like pure gold, one of the best reads for a Christian.
The content is very good though the wording is too hard to understand. However, the product can be better in typesetting. It is good if quotations are written in different style.
