Redemption
Redemption is the sequel to Nana’s Willow and continues the saga of the Hunter family. Lt. Andrew Hunter finds himself in Vietnam commanding a squad of Marines. The tour is violent, bloody, and ends in horrible tragedy. After returning home he sets out to visit members of his squad that survived and visit the mother of one that didn’t. On the way he picks up a special passenger and together they travel the road to redemption.

Wonderful book. With all that the boys went through in Vietnam, it amazed me that they were not given a heroes welcome. I grew up in that Era. The men who didn't come home are forever in our hearts as heroes.
This story depicts what war and life afterward can be like for those who fought. The author does a great job of telling the story. And at the end, you have to believe to know who Joe is.

Great ending. I struggled through the first half, but thankfully I had been warned that the first half is gruesome. *Vietnam details. Must have been hell on earth for those involved.
I read ahead (I know, we're not supposed to do that) and figured out it was gonna have a good ending, and it did.
When Andy meets Joe at the rest area they strike up an instant friendship, continue their travels together, pick up another friend along the way, and strike up another instant friendship. I'm Not gonna spoil it for ya, but I never saw the ending coming, a total surprise.
This is book 2 after Nanas Willow. Be sure to read that one first. Nanas Willow is an easier read. I started Redemption, and put it aside to read Nanas Willow. Then continued and I'm glad I did.
Now I hope there is a book 3.
