Their mental link gone and spiritual strength halved, Jacob and Kristair must conquer Kristair's newfound helplessness and learn to communicate with each other before their enemy destroys everything they've fought so hard to win.
Marguerite has been accused of being eccentric and a shade neurotic, both of which she freely admits to, but her muse has OCD tendencies, so who can blame her? Her husband and son do an excellent job keeping her toeing the line, though. Together with her co-author Fae Sutherland, Marguerite has found a shared passion for beautiful men with smart mouths.
When she's not working hard on writing new material and editing completed work, she spends her time reading novels of all genres, enjoying role-playing games with her equally nutty friends, and trying to plot practical jokes against her son and husband. Her son is learning the tricks too quickly and likes to retaliate. You'd think she'd learn.
What a great series, I only wish I'd read it years ago. I was disappointed that DSP didn't offer an epub version of book 1, as converting from a pdf throws off the formatting. Regardless, I could not get enough of Kristair, Jacob and the host of side characters in this trilogy.
This was an exciting adventure of a story. And while it was easy enough to follow, I might have had a better enjoyment if I'd read the two previous books in the series. That said, the author does a good job at keeping you informed of what had happened prior so you aren't left feeling completely confused and lost. All in all, a good book worth the read.

What a wonderful end to the Triquetra series. Jacob and Kristair battle through many layers of emotion tied to the changes in their status. Kristair must adapt which is harder than you might think after 2000 years of conditioning. It’s not easy to let your instincts go and embrace fragility ... in fact it may be impossible. Jacob won’t let that be the case though. He is just as stubborn. Even without that many years behind him he won’t let Kristair get away with anything except total acceptance and at times total surrender.
The mystery plot that weaves through the story was well done but at times I really felt it veered us off course from the main theme. Jacob and Kristair learning to adjust to their limits, expand their boundaries and make a place in the world for the two of them together. Even when we get to see Kayla, Tony, Steve, Ussier and the others they don’t really bring anything with them to advance the relationship or help them understand each other better. They just throw problems at them that distracts again.
While the vampire killer mystery is a distraction the sex scenes are not. They are incredibly hot but seemed to be a little unevenly placed. At times I almost forgot that Kristair and Jacob have a physical relationship. They spend a lot of time in each others head connecting in that way. With so much time between physical acts and so much other stuff going on in between it was a relief when they did get physical, not just metaphysical with each other. Fortunately, the emotional connection we are used to between these two still sizzles and sparks whether they get it on in a most satisfying way or are battling supernatural forces to be together.
All in all the wrap up was heartwarming and it’s nice to see Jacob and Kristair settling in for a little chaos free time with their new family member and all the love in the cosmos between them.
I feel this was the best book of the series and a good ending to it. I think both the pacing and the writing got better, especially because the author was able to differentiate between Jacob and Kristair's narration better than in the previous books, I didn't get lost as in the other books of the series. I also liked the main couple much better in this book, because the author managed to convey the bond they shared and I liked the way Kristair surrendered to Jacob, I could really see his need for it. I think there's a point of the book that wasn't explained very well, that is the creation of the doppelganger.
Kristair and Jacob find page after page a way to make their relationship work now that Kristair is human with a supernatural something that was left over after he renounced his powers as a vampire. Kristair becomes a more solid entity in his humanity, with his little problems with everyday life - such as driving and cooking. Jacob is a reliant partner, even if he is the younger one, he is the one who better reaches out to Kristair when he retires himself in his mind, he centers and grounds him. I think this is the part of the series that I will remember especially.
I think the series is not an easy read and it might not appeal to everyone. It's too philosophical and transcendental sometimes and even ambitious and I don't think everything got together perfectly, but it sure is different than the rest of the stories about vampires I've read.
This one actually gets 4.5 stars for an ending with a twist, only vague foreshadowing, and a last chapter that doesn't have cheesy crap in it. No epilogue here, and I liked that a great deal. It's obvious they have their HEA, and it's more than sufficient to satisfy this reader, at least.
While this third in the series had its slow spots and lacked the pace of the first, just as the second did, Labbe doesn't fail to engage the reader through emotional investment in the characters through their depth and development. And that kept me reading. She definitely takes a strange turn in this trilogy's story line; from vamp with human lover, to human with dead lover, to two human lovers: all with the same two characters. Unique to the genre, to say the least (well, as far as I know).
I won this book in a contest from this website and I thought since it was based in Pittsburgh (my area) then it would be good to read. But...I found the sexual references disturbing. I don't care what people do in the privacy of their own homes or who they do it with but this book didn't need to go into graphic details of male on male sex.
Great book. I want to know what Kristair decides to do about his change in career. I also want to know how Jacob does in his first season of football. I wonder how Rissa is as an adult. So many questions! Haha.
I think the author does a really good job in trying the keep the reader interested in the couple's lives. :) Well done.

a perfect ending to the trilogy just as the others there was action twist and turns and love. it also summed up what allthe main and secondary. character end up. though one thing missing is the team jacob plays for though it was mentioned a few times nothing big. i would def add this to a must read book
This was probably my least favourite of the series. I loved Kristair as a Vampire – he was everything my imagination thinks a 2000 year old vampire should be. So when he reverts back to being human I was kind of bummed and it threw me out of the story. Yes, he did it for love and in defiance of the Ascended but it still spoiled the story for me.
This story wraps up the series in a totally satisfying way. Jacob and Kristair really fight for their HEA and it's wonderful when they finally get it. Lots of action, hot loving and tender moments as well. Great ending to a really interesting series.
This is my favorite of the trilogy. I showed more of a deep and meaningful relationship between Kristar and Jacob. It was more gritty and suspenseful. Great take on vampire story. I enjoyed reading the whole trilogy!

A very sweet trilogy that I enjoyed a lot in spite of some minor quibbles I had with it. Kept me interested straight through all three books, and the ending was both adorable and satisfying. Recommended especially for anything looking for a refreshingly different view of vampires.
Jacob and Kristair have already been through hell and back, but even though they are finally together, thanks to some clever maneuvering by Kristair, they still can’t seem to get the peaceful life they desire. For one thing, actually living together is harder than they had expected. And for another, the supernatural forces they wanted to leave behind are not letting them go. There are new dangers and more serious threats around every corner, and I was holding on to the edge of my seat more than once. ‘Our Sacred Balance’ is a truly worthy finale to an epic series in more ways than one, and I can only recommend you read it yourself. I’m not sure my reviews can truly do it justice.
Kristair, now human again after centuries of being a vampire, needs time to get used to his new/old state of being. Going out in sunlight scares him, getting used to sleeping and dreaming is tough, and trying to go through life without his mystical link/bond to Jacob isn’t easy either. Add the fact that vamps are getting killed all over the place and that Kristair still owes a few favors and there is no way he can stay out of it.
Jacob is happy to have Kristair back, but he is also worried that his lover overestimates his abilities and will run into trouble heedless of the fact that he is no longer as powerful as he used to be. Jacob is also worried about not being able to feel Kristair any longer, and deeper communication – without the bond - is turning out to be much more difficult than he expected. Balance is what he wants – as does Kristair – but it seems almost impossible to get there.
This final book in the trilogy does an excellent job at bringing together all the story threads previously set up, increasing the suspense to almost unbearable levels, and tying up all the loose ends. The final mystery is breathtaking, the intrigue something to write home about, and Jacob and Kristair are certainly kept on their toes trying to stay alive! They have both changed and grown a lot since the first book, and while I enjoyed the story with all its twists and turns, I have to say that their development individually and as a couple, was my favorite part.
If you like supernatural mysteries of the scary kind, if vampire politics, ascended beings, and evil plots are what you’re looking for, and if you want a read that is suspenseful, cleverly written, entertaining, very romantic and occasionally scorching, then you will probably like this novel as much as I do. It’s a worthy final volume in a fantastic trilogy that I won’t forget anytime soon.
