She’s terrified of listening to her heart. He’s been in love with her for years. One kiss will change everything.
Mackenzie
Why do they call it falling in love? Because there’s only one way to go— down .
Love ruins everything, which is why I simply can’t trust my heart when important decisions are on the line. Like which car to buy or who I’m going to marry.
Logic and cold hard facts are the only way to approach relationships. There’s no opportunity for heartbreak if your heart isn’t involved, right?
That’s precisely why I’m dating my boyfriend. We’re such a good match that if he asked me to marry him… I might even say yes. Everything is going according to plan.
Until my best friend Derek kisses me.
Suddenly, I’m having these crazy feelings, and my whole life starts spinning out of control.
But the scariest part of all of this is that I’m pretty sure I enjoyed his kiss… and I may have even kissed him back.
This was definitely not a part of my plan…

Derek
Watching Mackenzie date other guys has never bothered me too much.
Until she started dating the guy she’s with now.
He’s an ass in every way, and she deserves so much more than him. But she’s blinded by her own stubborn rules.
I told myself they’ll break up eventually when he inevitably does something too asinine to forgive, but then Kenzie goes and tells me he’s planning to propose. And that she’ll say yes .
Kenzie? And that jerk? Married ?
I can’t let that happen.
If Kenzie wants to live life according to some frigid list of made-up rules, that’s fine. But I’m not letting her throw her life away with that idiot without knowing what it feels like to be kissed by someone who truly loves her.
Because I do. I always have, and I always will.
I just hope I can make her see that before it’s too late.

💖 Dream Team de Anita Knight Serie Sweet Hearts libro 5💖

Argumento:

Está aterrorizada de escuchar su corazón.

Ha estado enamorado de ella durante años. Un beso lo cambiará todo.

Mackenzie

A sweet Best Friends to Lovers story that makes you as reader wish Derek was your boyfriend! He does tick all the boxes on Mackenzie's list but she is too blinded by her idea of what a perfect relationship is in her head that she convinces herself she has it with Jeremy, her douch bag of a boyfriend! Poor Derek will he always stand back and wait for the woman of his dreams Mackenzie to open her eyes and realize that they are the perfect Dream Team after he kissed her with so much passion and the chemistry between them was so hot? Will he finally make his feelings clear? I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

•Beautiful story about taking a chance•

My favorite aspect of this book was the way Derek speaks about Mackenzie. It wasn’t just about physical attraction, obviously that is there too, but it was so much deeper than that. He had me melting at every turn with his love, protectiveness and devotion to her, it was truly impressive and touching.

Mackenzie’s love life is completely contingent on her list, fearful that if she strays from it she’ll end up broken-hearted. Unfortunately, it appears to have created an almost naïveté and innocence that’s also depriving her of so much more. I loved the back and forth in Mackenzies mind and seeing her work out what she was feeling and what she wanted. Her instincts when it comes to Derek verses what she’s convinced herself she needs in order to not be hurt.

Beautifully written and a great read, loved it.

Fabulous, I absolutely love this one. It was a nice, quick, short read.

Derek and Mackenzie have been best friends for over twenty years. Derek is in love with Mackenzie and he has been for years. No other girl compares to her, he goes out on date but doesn't feel the connection. Mackenzie is in a relationship with Jeremy, she's still a virgin. Both Mackenzie and Jeremy work hard both trying to climb the ladder. Mackenzie hasn't seen Jeremy in a while so she goes to take him lunch, but he brushes her off and tells her he's to busy to have lunch. Later when Derek comes over they play board games and he gets carried away at how gorgeous she is and kisses her. She can't believe he kissed her and needs time to process it. She came alive when he kissed her it's something she's never felt before. So Mackenzie decides to surprise Jeremy at this office the next night. When she arrives in his office in lingerie she opens his office door to find him with his pants unbuttoned and his face in between his secretary breast. She turns and leaves going to find Derek for comfort, she falls asleep with Derek holding her. The next day she wakes and immediately leaves to go to her sister, who she hasn't talked to in a few years. Her sister makes her realize she's in love with Derek. She races back to Derek's apartment to tell him she wants a chance with him. He's waiting for her and asks her where she went. He tells her he loves her and has for a while. She tells him she was protecting her heart, she tells him when he kissed her it felt like he brought her to life. He had her feeling things for the first time, and it was overwhelming. Derek kisses her, she tells him she thought she lost him. She tell him she's scared, he tells her love is scary. He tells her he's always loved her and she asks him how does he know. He tells her because he'd rather do nothing with her than hang out with his friends, he'd rather play the same trivia games over than go to a game, he'd rather be her friend and watch her marry the wrong guy than move on with my life because he can’t bear to lose her. She tells him she's sorry and he tells her not to be he'd wait for her. They kiss and his fingers go under her shirt and rub her breast, he asks if it's too soon. She shakes her head and he asks her if she wants him as badly as he wants her she tells him she does. She moves closer to him taking his shirt off he tells her they don't have to do this. She tells him he's barely touched her and she feels like she's on fire, she doesn't want to wait any longer. He tells her neither can he, he scoops her up and carries her to his bedroom. He trails his hands over her breast and down her body to her folds, then he lowers his mouth, his tongue enter her slit, he takes her to the edge. Derek stands and takes his boxers off, he lays on top of her, he pushes into her entrance. He pumps into her slowly, every thrust deeper, he kisses her grabbing her hands and pinning them above her head. Afterwards they lie panting, holding each other close. She tells him she never knew it could be this good, he tells her he had a feeling with her it would be. She tells him she loves him and he tells her he loves her. Six months later Derek is standing waiting for Mackenzie to walk down the aisle, her sister walks with her, and he thinks she is the most gorgeous woman he's ever seen. After he kisses her she tells him he's hers now, he tells her he always was and always will be. Five years later, their Valentine's dinner this year moved quickly from a candlelit dinner to hot sex. Alicia decides to order in tonight, from the same restaurant they went to five years ago on their first date. Daniel had proposed a year after they met, she wanted to do something different something intimate. He heads downstairs to reheat their dinners, she sets a wrapped box on his placemat. She tells him to open it, he flipped off the lid, and they asks her really is this for real. She tells him yes he's going to be a dad, he pulls her into his lap and tells her he loves her. She tells him she loves him, and can't wait to tell their child how he saved her. He tells her he's going to tell their child she saved him too, and he'll never stop loving her for that, Happy Valentine's Day they wish each other.

Throw all caution to the wind
This friends to lovers romance story is about Mackenzie and Derek. They’re best friends, but she has been going out with Jeremy for two years. He has again though, left her in the lurch, piking out of another dinner date that she’s been looking forward to. Kenzie knows that Derek isn’t Jeremy’s biggest fan (to say the least), and is hesitant to discuss the issue with him. The dilemma is that Derek is so in love with Kenzie, and she has no idea!
Derek figures this might be his last chance to let her know how he truly feels about her. He takes the brave (?) step of kissing her. While she’s taken aback at first, she kisses him back, but she’s also the one to stop the kiss from escalating too much. He puts no pressure on her, but hopes she finally realises what she really means to him – and he hopes the feelings might be mutual. But the silence afterwards has him seriously rethinking what he did. He doesn’t want to lose her as a friend.
Jeremy again breaks her heart when she finds out he’s cheating on her, by walking into his office, finding him in a very compromising position with his secretary. And who does she go to? Derek. He’s furious with Jeremy, and consoles Kenzie like the best friend he is. Kenzie is starting to now realise that maybe Derek is someone she can truly love. Or has she always felt that way? Derek well and truly broke her cage!
This story tugs at the heart strings a little. It’s sad with the betrayal and hurt that Kenzie endures, but it’s also ridiculously sweet and honest, where Kenzie and Derek’s feelings are concerned. When it comes down to the nitty gritty, they’re also incredibly passionate and steamy together. Their chemistry is off-the-charts hot and they just suit each other beautifully.
I thoroughly enjoyed the quick extra epilogue, but I was sad to have their story end so quickly. I’m really hoping that we’ll see more of them, if her sister and his brother get together! I give this book four and three quarter BFF stars.

Mackenzie is caught up in the peculiar Dream Team list she keeps in her head. She is totally against love which she feels ruins everything. She needs to keep her mind straight for important decisions and not let emotion steer her wrong. Relationships need to be logical and factual, and when the guy meets all the criteria, that’s a successful match, right? Kenzie is dating Jeremy and he seems to be the one. All of those boxes are checked and she thinks he may be ready to propose. Even better, she will say yes this time! The plan is working perfectly!

But Derek has loved her for a long time. They are best friends. But rather than try to set her straight about love, he lets her do her thing, knowing it has no hope of ever working. But when she confides that Jeremy is the one for her, Derek refuses to let her toss her life away like that with Jeremy. Before she can make such a foolish decision, she needs to know what it feels like to be kissed by someone who truly loves her and who will always love her. So he kisses her, putting all of his repressed feelings into it so she knows what love is.

Kenzie wasn’t prepared for her reaction to Derek’s kiss. Now she has crazy feelings she never had before. She feels out of control. And she really did like the kiss, more than she thought possible. But her rules and method have to be right. She can’t let her mind be changed. Jeremy is perfect for her – he has to be! The list will keep her from heartbreak! Will Derek’s kiss change her plans? Or will she stay on her path of self-destruction where she will never find happiness or love – but may very well find out what heartbreak is truly like?

3⭐️:

This was a best friends to lovers “Valentine’s Day” romance but there wasn’t really anything mentioned about V-Day in this book. So it’s basically just a themed cover. *shrug* Oh well.

It was cute enough but I didn’t really care all that much for Mackenzie. She kinda annoyed me with her list and using the excuse of her parents divorce for her to try and leave her feelings out of relationships. Which is the reason she’s with Jeremy. I mean... the dude’s an asshole and you could totally tell what he’s been up to every time he “has to work late again,” but Kenzie doesn’t think anything of it.

I did like Derek as her best friend and I was rooting for him. We saw in his POV how much he was in love with Kenzie and I totally felt that. It suggested that he might’ve been a virgin because he mentioned trying to date women and going to third base, but this was never confirmed. So I guess I won’t count it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was happy that they ended up together but it was kind of underwhelming. Sure, I was happy for them in a general sense but I didn’t get that giddy feeling I usually do when reading these books, soooo... I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could’ve. But then again it could be just me.

Epilogue was cute and had a nice HEA, which I always love. Worth the read for the Sweet Hearts series but that’s about it.

Derek and Mackenzie have been best friends for 20 years.  They know everything about each other.  They spend most of their time together.  They support one another, however, they have never been anything more than friends.  Derek has been in love with Mackenzie for a long time but he is afraid to ruin their friendship.  Mackenzie has watched the people in her life struggle with love.  She is determined to marry because she found a good match not because she is in love.  She thinks this will be the way to keep her heart from breaking.   When Mackenzie, announces that she thinks her boyfriend is going to propose, Derek knows he must do something.  Can Derek convince her to take a chance on love or will she marry the boyfriend who is no good for her?

Wonderful story about losing and loving and learning to take a chance on love.  I love Derek's character.  Love that he is always there for Mackenzie, supports her, encourages her, and is the constant in her life.  We get to see Mackenzie go through all the feels.  Knight writes characters that are real and relatable with depth.

Using a list to find the perfect boyfriend!🤦‍♀️

Making a list to find the perfect man, to make a Dream Team together, just isn’t a good idea. Listen to your best friend Derek, who happens to be a hottie, when he says it won’t work. The joke’s on Derek because your current boyfriend seems to meet every qualification except for one teensie, weensie problem...he doesn’t blow your mind like Mr. McHottie BFF just did when he kissed you senseless. What’s a girl to do?

BURN THE LIST!

Nope. Our heroine, Mackenzie, doubles down. When everything slides south, she can’t go crying to her BFF, because...the KISS, can she?

This was a great Friends to Lovers romance. It had a touch of RomCom in it and a whole bunch of sweetness. I’m a sucker for a guy who is secretly in love with a girl, but resigns himself to the friend-zone to protect the friendship. Mackenzie is a lovable mess, trying to use a business approach to find a man.

I highly recommend this book. It’s a quick, funny, sweet and steamy romance.

Dream Team is a great best friends to lovers story. Derek and Mackenzie has been best friends for years. Derek has been love with Mackenzie for years but she doesn’t knows. He had to watch as she goes through relationship after relationship until Jeremy and he get tried of waiting and he kisses her and that is where things begin to change.
Mackenzie thinks she has to follow her list to found the perfect guy. She thinks Jeremy is the one until Derek kiss her and everything starts to change. Mackenzie goes on a emotion rollercoaster with the events she goes through. Derek is there for her. He is always waiting for her because he love her and she doesn’t realize it. Through between both point of view of Derek and Mackenzie you get to go through all the drama passion love and HEA.

Anita Knight does a fantastic job bring the characters to life. She does a great job writing Dream Team. The book has a fantastic storyline.

I received this arc for my honest opinion.

Checking all the boxes does not mean you get a dream man

Dream Team by Anita Knight is part of the multi-author Sweet Hearts series. Sometimes what you think you want is now what you really need. This is a lesson that Mackenzie must learn and her best friend Derek is the one who has to show her. She is a young woman who does not go for all the hearts and flowers of romance and love. Nope she is a woman who has a list of the "practical" things that she wants and when she finds a man who ticks those off then he is it for her, even though he does not ignite any passion in her. Derek however has been in love with Mackenzie for years and knows he needs to act, as in now or never, to show her just how wrong her list is when Mackenzie finds a man that ticks those boxes. So when he tells her just how he feels and then kisses her they have to figure out where they go from here.
This is a charming and entertaining story and an enjoyable read.

McKenzie wants to love and be loved, but it hurts more than it should. For her the best thing to do is to make sure her boyfriend checks all the boxes on a list she has in her head, even if the red flags a waving. Derek has been watched McKenzie as goes through her relationship, always wanting more but never acting on it until he just had enough and kissed her. Confused between her heart and head, McKenzie goes to her boyfriend's work only to walk in on him with the receptionist.

Dream Team is a good friends to love story with amazing characters and fun story line. Derek's is a good friend, he pushes McKenzie to open her eyes on what she really wants. McKenzie is scared of getting her but once she opens her self up she is able to find the love she wants.

I really enjoyed this book! Derek and Mackenzie have been best friends for years and have always been there for each other. Derek has been in love with Mackenzie for years but didn't wait to risk their friendship. Mackenzie has lived her love life by a list to avoid feelings and following in the footsteps of her mother and sister. One fateful night, Derek can't stop himself and kisses Mackenzie; then a whole of drama/feelings happens. There is a lot of feelings, drama, longing, steam, love, twists, and truths revealed in this book (you just have to read it to find out!) I would highly recommend this book and Ms. Anita as a fantastic author!

Ughh..

This book irritated me beyond belief. Miscommunication and cheating and both parties. It took all I had to finish it within the fist 2 chapters. Mackenzie is insufferable, she is afraid of love and commitment so she has a list. She has been with her boyfriend Jeremy for 3 years, and "checks all her boxes". She catches him cheating with a secretary after Derek kissed her days before. She never breaks up with him. She just runs away crying.. Derek is so delusional that he feels the kiss they shared means she knows how he feels for all these years. Never once did he tell her prior to the ending. Bam.. they are together, just a conversation with her estranged sister and she loves him. I am fine with insta-love but this was lacking

Mackenzie tries to follow the practical route to love. She using a list to determine her perfect match and she’s going to accept that choice even if she doesn’t love them or they have huge red flags. Derek is her best friend and secretly in love with her. It kills him she dates these men that aren’t good enough for her. In a moment of weakness he gives in to his feelings and kisses Mackenzie.

Now they both have to decide what really does make a dream team and then make it happen.

These characters are fun and interesting. Really enjoyed their relationship and the journey they take.

I loved this story. The characters were very realistic in that they both loved each other as best friends and were afraid to mess things up by going any further. Kenzie is afraid of love and emotions after being raised in a bitter household with fighting parents, so she is determined to marry for common sense with no emotion involved at all. Both Kenzie and Derek are hard workers, honest, and have been friends for years. Their dynamic is really enjoyable to read about. The story was well written, funny, and a little quirky with a bit of steam to finish it off. Nice.

Derek has loved Mackenzie and now Mackenzie is thinking about marrying her boyfriend who is a total jerk. Desperate times call for desperate measures so he kisses her with all his built up passion. Now Mackenzie is rethinking all her dumb dating rules. This is a quick romantic read. Derek was wonderful and an all around great guy, Mackenzie was a little rigid with her rules, but rules are made to be broken. This is a Valentine's day themed book and it was just a nice read that gave you the warm fuzzies.

Best friends to lovers story

I was hooked from the first page. This is my first book from Anita and it will not be my last. Mackenzie is all safe guards and following the letter of reason. So when her best friend bursts her bubble it seems as though her life is reeling. Derek is the right kind of friend and one who only wants what’s best for her. His tender touch and fierce need to protect her is heart warming and makes their HEA that much better. Cannot wait to see what happens next.

Part of the The Sweet Hearts multi-author series, Anita Knight's Dream Team is perfection. A best friends to lovers romance, Derek is swoon-worthy, the kind of book boyfriend that makes you weak in the knees; and Mackenzie is such an authentic, complicated character, and watching her grow and make herself vulnerable is such a joy. Together they have absolutely electric chemistry, and are truly a Dream Team. Your Valentine's Day will not be complete without adding reading this sweet, steamy, delicious treat to your to-do list.

I loved Dream Team by Anita Knight. Best Friends to Lovers is one of my favorite genres so I am always looking out for new releases. Derek loves his best friend Makenzie and the thought of her marrying her boyfriend has him panicking. He knows he can't let her marry the wrong man. Unfortunately Makenzie has a list that she uses to keep from being hurt and her boyfriend checks off every item on her list. Will Derek let her go or will he be able to convince her they belong together? 5 stars!

Part of the Sweet Hearts Series. Kenzie and Derek have been best friends forever but when Kenzie mentions her boyfriend might be proposing, Derek realizes he can’t let that happen. Derek has loved Kenzie for years but has been too afraid to ruin their friendship. Finally he kisses her but will she feel the same or is their friendship over? A sweet story with lots of feels. The characters are real with all the emotions that go with friendship, heartache and love. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mackenzie and Derek have been best friends for years and he's had a crush on her for just as long. When he finds out her new boyfriend might be asking her to marry him he decides it too much and has to let her know. One kiss, one unforgettable kiss is what it took to make Mackenzie see Derek in a new way. This is a cute, friends to lovers romance with likable characters that had me cheering them on to get their happily ever after. Dream Team is a great addition to the Sweet Hearts series. Derek and Mackenzie have known each other forever and he has loved her for quite a while. She is one to make lists and prepares to marry, etc with no feelings, so she does not get hurt. Mackenzie thinks her boyfriend will propose and she will say yes. Wrong, and Derek, her best friend, is about to change everything. Just one heartfelt hiss from Derek and Mackenzie is changing the rules and lists. Loved the characters, intense feelings and the storyline. The ending was perfect.

Right there in front of her face, Derek has been there. Knight in shining armour? Well... sure if you like that stiff. Kenz just should have read her lists of wants out loud a. Little sooner than way later. Some times things that look good on paper does not sound good out loud. Derek would have been put out of his misery. She seemed clueless of what she was deserving of in a relationship. Buckle up Buttercup. No cliffhanger

I can voluntarily reviewing after receiving a free copy. Mackenzie is trying to do love by logic and it's not working. Things are torn for a loop when her best friend Derek kisses her. She tries to move forward with her boyfriend Jeremy and finds out he's no good. Mackenzie goes to cry on Derek's shoulder and then to talk to her sister. This is a cute friend;s to lovers romance with a dash of RomCom. When Derick tries to be MacKenzie;s friend and keep their relationship platonic, one kiss sets out a whirlwind of emotions between this friends. When someone checks off every item on the list but the most important one, friends turn into more, leaving readers cheering them on.

Mackenzie is the child of divorced parents and she’s built a cage around her heart. Derek has been her friend for over twenty years. He’s been patient and a shoulder to lean on for Mackenzie. He’s watched her pick the wrong guys time after time. Finally he kisses his friend and rocks her world. That kiss sets off her on a mission of discovery that drives her back to Derek who’s always been there for her. Good guys can overcome and finish first!
