Driven, professional sailor Claire Wilde is home on a flying visit to see friends and family. She’s especially looking forward to catching up with best friend Zoe, and meeting Zoe’s daughter, Rose.

But Christchurch is a city on shaky ground, and when it is hit by a big earthquake, secrets are suddenly exposed that Claire and Zoe had never even guessed at. In seconds, everything is changed.

Drawn into a terrible game of cat and mouse with a paedophile and killer she never suspected, Claire finds herself chasing a man who won’t stop until he gets what he wants — three-year-old Rose. 4.5 stars maybe?

I cannot decide between 4 and 5 right now.

*Warning: The bad guy is a Paedophile!!

I had to say this book is different from what i read so far, since i never read any books that reveal who is the bad guy at the start. But this book did. So yeah. There were many people’s POV in this book including the bad guy’s. Quite lots of his POV to be honest. We got to be in his head, to see how his logic works, his imagination toward those kids (Urghh!! i just want to bash him up so bad!).

Claire, the main character, had a suspicion toward him but not sure what his crime is, as the story movd on, she tries to find out what his crime is, while the bad guy is planning for his future with Rose. Poor Rose for what she had been through. She is a bright kid.

And romance... 🤔🤔 There is none!

I did enjoy this book. Though Some parts of it disturbed me. There were many likable characters. And a dog. And there was a character death. I’m not say who and i dont recommend to find spoilers from other. Because it kind of sad when you knew who while you read her POV and you just knew her time is gonna come. But it still kind of shock when suddenly it just happened. 😑

And I swear if Jeanette (one of many characters in this book) was going to get herself kill as well, I was going to throw my phone out of the window 😒

Can’t think of anything else to say. 😐

As most of you know I’m a huge fan of thrillers and mysteries. There is nothing quite like being on the edge of your seat waiting to know what twists and turns are in store for the hero. Saving Rose by Kate Genet did not disappoint it had me hooked from the very first page.

Saving Grace is not the typical book I review on this site, it has no romantic element. Personally, I thought that made this book even better because they didn’t try to force a romance where it wasn’t needed. This book was told from many points of view. Which I thought made this book all the more interesting. I particularly liked reading from the mind of Danny, the villain. It really added suspense to the story knowing what his plans were and what the heroes Claire and Mona would need to overcome to save Rose.

As everyone knows who regularly reads the blog, I love the addition of pets in a story. This book had an amazingly protective German Shepard that Rose named Pilot. Pilot got lost during the earthquake the rocked the city he was found by Rose. He becomes Rose’s companion and tries to protect her from her father. Between Claire and Pilot, Danny had his hands full in his evil attempts to take his daughter. Saving Rose is a wild ride.

I would recommend Saving Rose to anyone who loves thrillers.

This was a difficult story to read and it was too long; or, there was too many words used to say a thing (if that makes sense). I knew there was going to be some serious pain early on, within the first few chapters. Then it just got hard to read through the morass of deception and lies. Determined, I didn't put it down until I finished.
I can't share anymore without spoilers, so I'll just tell readers be prepared for a long 'you've got to be kidding me' story.

Wow!

This was a hard one. There were times I couldn't put it down, but then there were times that I definitely needed to. Classic good guy/bad guy, with the bad guy seeming to have all the luck until his ego gets in the way. The subject matter can be a little hard for some to take and the author did a very good job of taking us into that type of mindset but not sending us too far down the rabbit hole.

First rate

This book was extremely enjoyable, in spite of the distasteful subject matter. Set in New Zealand, it's very well written, capturing my interest right from the beginning. Character development is thorough and the imagery is fabulous. It kept me up into the wee hours in order to reach the exciting ending. I'm hoping that this might be the first in a series, that I don't have to say goodbye to Claire and Rose.

Heart wrenching

OMG! What a heartbreak little Rose went through.
Losing her mother in such a tragic way. And the thought of her father having her gave me a mixed feeling of anger and sadness. Thank Goddess for happy ending. I loved this story. I would recommend to everyone and anyone this is a must read.

Could not put it down

The story captured my mind and held on until I'd finished it.

I have to admit, seeing the workings of the villan's mind gave me the chills.
