Nathan is an ex-marine, found out his wife was cheating, is divorced and getting his children and moving to Hawaii for his dream job and lots of surfing. His dreams are smashed quickly when a terrible accident happens. Break Line is a very emotional story. There are many amazing characters. I loved the setting and the vocabulary that made the story feel like you were in Hawaii. I loved the slang and the index at the front that told you the meaning of the words so as you read you understood it quite well. My heart went out to Nathan. I absolutely loved his cousin though. There is so much going on with the story. His previous PSTD, the divorce, the accident, and the romance. My biggest caveat was that the romance doesn't take place until after 60 percent and felt rushed to me. I would have loved this book to have been longer and more told about how he got PTSD and more about the divorce and how he wound up in Hawaii. Having said that, this book is definitely very heartwrenching, action-packed and draws you in from the beginning.
Break Line by Ellie Mack is an emotional story about losing everything and crawling out of the depths to find more than you ever had before. Nathan moved to Hawaii to live out his dream. He lost his wife, had to fight to get his children back, and then things got worse due to a tragic accident. He is going to have to find his way out of the darkness to see what awaits him...his children...possible love...and a family who welcomes him with open arms.
The story is good with great characters and a plot that will pull at your heartstrings. On top of that, it is a quick read that is well-written. I do wish it was longer so that the author could delve more into the characters and flush them out a bit more, but it is a novella and the book didn't have that luxury. I still do recommend this story though. 4 stars. One click today!

Being new to an authors work is always as much a daunting task for any reviewer as it can be for the author putting it out into the world. You really have no idea what you’re going to get or if what you do get will be up your alley or not. That being said, let’s just jump into what I really enjoyed most about this first time foray into this author. Her ability to bring location to life. I have never been where this book takes place, and I probably never will get to go, but the way the author showed this place, it really was like I was there, through everything that happened. The dialect, the place itself, and all of the beauty it has within it, it came across so well in this story. I really did feel as though I took a trip somewhere I’d never been and still have the pictures of it in my mind. Absolutely wonderful. The next thing I enjoyed was the detail given to how our lead character ends up where he is. It was very descriptive, but not in a way that would turn anyone away. Just vivid enough to get the point across, while also giving us a bigger insight into who he is and why he ends up where he does. I felt a great connection because of this, at least to this character and everything he had been through. Now, I’m well aware of the novella formula, and how you have to cram as much as possible into a small page count, but what I felt was lacking here and what I really wanted more of (and by more I don’t mean a ton, just a couple of extra scenes here or there) was the relationship that took place. I didn’t get to see nearly enough of that which in turn made it harder to grasp onto and believe in. That’s not to say it wasn’t good, because it was and we know how they initially meet and so forth, but the development of it was lacking for me personally. I couldn’t connect to them both, just to the main character and it left me wanting more, for them specifically. That being said, I enjoyed the writing style, along with the things I mentioned above and I definitely would tell you all to check the author out. Even do what I now need to do and go back and grab some of the older catalog. I’m really glad I took the chance on this author and I can’t wait to see what she brings again in the future. My thanks to everyone involved in giving me the chance to read this before official release. It was a journey I was pleased to have taken.
