Raven and her friends visit a ghost town and camp in the forest for the weekend. As Maddy goes missing they try to solve what's going on here. They also come across an old deserted bunker. The longer they are in the forest the fewer they get... The story started strong with the introduction of the characters and the building up of an eerie atmosphere. But the more you read the less plausible the story turned into. Is it a monster that's hunting them down or a military project out of control? Who will survive the forest? In the end there were too many ties loose here. Maybe a longer form, e.g. a novel, would have been better than a novella. Don't get me wrong. It was a quick read with many sinister situations. But overall the story was a bit too strange, too constructed to be different to other campfire/hiking tales. It was okay with some good ideas.

I love reading books like this book. I love how urban legends turn into real life happenings in the book. Even though it's not real, the author makes it real for the reader. This urban legend has been a favorite of mine for a couple years now. It's the Rake!! I love the story of the legend and so on. This author really did make me feel that the Rake was real. I feel this book needs another book about the girl in the book. Great story!!!

This was an interesting story. Part horror, part science fiction with a little bit of romance thrown in. Raven, the main character, goes on a camping trip with some friends hoping for some scary Halloween excitement. The campsite is in some "haunted" woods near a ghost town. The story feels a lot like an 80s slasher flick and there are a lot of elements from slashers but there is more to the story. There might be a monster in the woods. Everyone might not make it to the end of the story. This is not a deep thought classic story but it isn't meant to be. It's for entertainment and it is entertaining. This is not a story for children.

Are you ready for some great horror books for the spooky season? If so, you need to pick up this one. This book gives an 80s slasher vibe and offers some great horror scenes with some romance thrown in. I loved the use of urban legends.

Raven and her friends consider camping in a haunted forest a good idea, until they are each kidnapped by a Chimera with an unforeseen consequence. The story is descriptive and features a lot of film and story references.
