After a year of whirlwind romance, Serina and Mizukawa-sempai are celebrating their first anniversary together! With their second year as boyfriend and girlfriend underway, Serina's sending signs that she's ready to take their romance to the next step...but Sempai wants to meet her family first. Is their first time around the corner at last? Maybe not if Sempai's little brother has anything to say about it...!
Honestly? This manga contained a pretty realistic sex scene in that it was awkward yet passionate as the two tried to fumble their way through their first time together. No shojo sparklies here! I was really surprised but really impressed with how the manga-ka handled those moments in the story. The only real downside of this manga is that everything revolves around the main couple to the detriment of any growth or focus for the side characters. But this series is still a pretty solid high school shojo romance nonetheless!
Starting off the hottest and most risque of all the instalments in this series so far, was an interesting lack of progression in the relationship between Serina and Mizukawa's younger brother. Despite how irritating he was of a character with his constantly unnecessarily rude demeanour, it was actually a nice change of pace to see someone acting the complete opposite way of all the loved-up super-happy characters.
The rest of the vol was focused on the very loving approach to Serina and Mizukawa finally "doing the deed", so to speak. It was handled in the most beautiful way, both by the couple's characters and by the writer in the way that she approached the taboo topics. It was wonderfully refreshing and moving. Serina and Mizukawa really are manga's best couple!
I know I said I would review the entire manga after completing it but after reading this, I just have some stuff to say.
I absolutely love how tastefully the mangaka has handled the 'first time' scene(s). This was a complaint I had before with Kaguya Sama, where the mangaka just skips over it with a 'oop, we did it' and I get why he'd choose that but I definitely like how the mangaka here has gone through the whole thought process of a teen couple doing it for the first time. I really enjoyed it and hence the five stars <3
“Knowing that there’s someone out there who’ll accept you for who you are. Someone who can break down boundaries even your friends and family can’t. Isn’t that amazing? Knowing you’re not alone anymore. I didn’t think there was anyone who’d be there…for a nobody like me. But you proved me wrong. We did. Together.”
I cried so bad reading this. Mizukawa is soo precious and he wants everything to be perfect for Serina.
The first part deals with Mizukawa and Serina’s siblings. We met Serina’s siblings and their interactions with Mizukawa were funny but awkward at the same time. I mean, it wasn’t realistic, and no one would say things like that to their sister’s boyfriend. We also had more interactions between the Serina and Mizukawa’s brother and some background on the relationship between the two brothers. His little brother is the character I’m the most curious about, so I really hope that he will be more present in the next volumes and that we’ll see some character’s growth.
But the main focus of this volume is Serina’s first time. The previous volume ended on Serina’s confession to Mizukawa that she was ready to do it, therefore it was obvious that it will be the main subject here. Overall, the subject was handled pretty well by Mase. Not only does Serina talks about it with Mizukawa, she also has a conversation about it with her senior’s friends which I appreciated because it was nice that they had a girls talk where they were really supportive but also listening to her.
As usual, Mizukawa was so sweet and supportive toward Serina. The scenes between the two of them were the sweetest ever. I still find some Mizukawa’s drawing to be kind of meeeeh but the art style is style really nice!
I love how this couple continues to be real with each other and takes the effort to make it work. High school relationships tend to be easier to maintain since you see each other everyday on campus. But these two want to take it further for the long haul. Getting to know one another’s family and friends. Making lasting memories. Making love. I love how this manga tends to be more realistic (not the typical fluffy stuff) on its view of young love, but it’s still sweet and endearing. They care deeply for one another and aren’t rushing. They’ve been going at their own pace. The days spent together during summer break or late night train rides and not wanting to be apart for a moment. Those are some of the greatest memories. Looking forward to volume 7!!!

I am...Disturbed by the description of how much losing your virginity hurts. It feels like you could die? Have to try at least 5 times or it won’t go in?? Is that supposed to be normal? Virgins reading this, do not fear. That was not my experience, and I’ve never heard anything like that from any of my friends either. I mean, it was nice that he was so anxious to make it a good experience that he even asked his friends about it....but yeah, no.
But maybe...don’t make your first time in the classroom? That seems weird and vaguely gross.

This such a wholesome volume, especially towards the end. I love that both Mizukawa and Serina asking for advice from friends, as well as how Mizukawa was extra worried about hurting Serina. I think this volume has the most accurate depiction of virgins attempting to have sex, that I’ve seen in a manga so far.

I’m stunned. This is a Shoujo series, right? A Shoujo series that not only has sex in it but also treats it in a mature and very realistic way? And it acknowledges the differences of love? My mind is still blowing.

I’m loving this too much. The way these two communicate is top tier, they’re more mature than most adults lol. I can’t wait to see how their relationship blossoms as they go through college and adulthood 😭🩷
I’m grateful that this series not only mentions sex but has the characters go through with it, without it being the “end goal” of the story. But in the classroom??! I understand that it’s special to them but it’s just cringe!!!
Whew. I think this is the longest and most even-sided discussion of sex I have ever seen in a manga. One question though, why does it have to be done at school? you pervy kids LOLOLOL—
Omg me encanta!!!
