Things might've gone well … if they weren't ambushed on their first night. When an unsanctioned mission to depose a tyrant king goes catastrophically wrong, Raike finds himself having to use every trick he knows to get the people he was hired to protect back home before it's too late.
Jackson Lear grew up around the world and has developed an accent that can sometimes be described as mostly Irish, a fair whack of English, and a hint of American. That's pretty handy for someone who lives in Australia. He considers 8am to be the middle of the night, has a habit of buying more books than he can ever read, and might have a go at being Batman if his writing career never really takes off.
Well damn a lot of fighting, biting, running, screaming, talking to kinda getting to know you see if I trust you or should I kill you. While we are making a run over the mountains to stay ahead of vampires. With nothing to eat or drink an no sleep to be had while carrying our injured. Trying to find ways to keep going by a little bartering back an forth an some flirting with some eye rolls.
I must say Jackson Lear brings forth a great tail with a lot of action in great detail with some laughs to the mix. This is my first book to read from Jackson an I have enjoyed every book so far. Damn fine work sir.
Binged read the series!! Well the first 3 books hoping he’ll write more. Independent author so some typos and minor errors but not too many. He’s dialogue is hilarious and original. Could add some romance and/or sex scenes.
