Joseph Veebe is passionate about a healthy lifestyle. Veebe believes a number of modern sickness and health conditions are due to unhealthy eating habits and poor lifestyle. His books are a result of his research into healthy living and his experiments in the kitchen where he loves to cook healthy food with fresh ingredients for his family.

Veebe understands that most people do not have enough time in their busy days for elaborate home cooking. So it is essential to simplify the cooking process. His recipes follow an 80-20 rule. 80% of authentic taste and flavor with 20% effort and time compared to elaborate or authentic recipes. All his recipes use fresh ingredients. He avoids processed foods like a plague and believes processed foods have too many harmful chemicals that is not good for long term use.

Most people do not want to spend too much time in the kitchen trying to cook up elaborate and prescriptive recipes. Veebe hopes that his recipes will save time & money, help people make healthy choices, and inspire them to experiment while making healthy, natural, and delicious food for the family. Veebe's recipes are intended for everyday cooking.

He started writing these books as healthy living notes and recipes to benefit his daughters someday. Veebe hopes others find these books helpful as well. Visit www.essentialhealthandwellness.net for more information

I loved this book. As a spice-oriented cook, I have and use many spices.
The author went into detail about benefits of things like ginger (fresh) and my favorites: turmeric, smoked paprika, and garam masala.
While the recipes weren't as plant based as I would like, they covered basic pairing of spices. like black pepper making turmeric more effective.
Please remember to empty and reorganize your spices once a year.

Beginning with an overview of the historical usage of a number of individual spices and herbs, progressing through current studies of the health benefits of adding certain spices, to the various curry blends and other Southeast Asian and Caribbean spice mixes, general tips for cooking with spices including a section on cooking vegan with spices, and a whole lot of interesting recipes for stir fry and other flavorful dishes. Last of all are the do nots, web sites for a number of retailers, and the usual references. I found the whole thing to be a very useful reference book complete with some very tasty recipes!

I didn't find this to be particularly helpful. I could have gotten the same info from the Internet. In the beginning, there is information about the history of several spices. Then, the author talked about the health benefits of certain spices. Unfortunately, he did not include the therapeutic level of the spices necessary for one's improvement.

I was excited about the spice mixes. However, they were general overviews, not specific directions to create combinations. There was a chapter on COOKING VEGAN WITH SPICES. Then, the author offered some recipes for FISH AND MEAT DISHES. The only chapter I might use was regarding beef bone broth. The various recipes were uninspired.

This an excellent source of infor.ation about spices, and some herbs. The author explains the origins, use and health benefits of many of the spices used in cooking. He then explains ways to use the spices as well as recipes to try. The author cautions readers that you should use caution in mixing herbs, as consideration must be given to mixing the various effects each herb may have on the body. Also when experimenting with spices you have never used before, try a small amount first to watch for any adverse reaction.

This book is packed with information. A few years ago I made Chicken vindaloo. I had to make several trips to the store there were so many spices.
I've settled on a few favorites.
I do recommend this book.
