This is the kind of melodrama I tend to love. And I appreciate the narrative showing how far Saimon is willing to go to achieve his goals. That being said, one development in the middle regarding the nanny seemed a little too much too soon right after another major manipulation. I'm not particularly excited for a high school arc next volume, but I do love Mamiya and Iori so I'm still looking forward to it.
I absolutely loved the first volume and I absolutely loved this volume. This series is not for everyone as it deals with very heavy topics and I highly suggest looking into trigger warnings but if you can get past it this is fantastic. It’s a gigantic mess. Just when I thought it couldn’t be anymore messed up this volume proved me wrong with showing just how far and how low Saimon will go to keep his place in the family. I do need Zenjiro to hurry up and die because he’s abhorrent with zero redeeming qualities. This volume revealed even more horrible things he’s done. If you like your manga messy this is the story for you.
Mamiya weatheres his first heat in enemy territory, gets closer to his - *checks notes* - nephew/adoptive half-brother Iori, and goes to school. Meanwhile, Betabutler Shiba does his level best to look very shady.
Mamiya continues to be extremely relatable, Iori s my precious son to be protected at all cost, Saimon shows his ruthless side, and Shiba is an interesting new player whose involvement could lead to entertaining twists. I'm curious to see where this goes, although it sems next volume will be all about Mamiya's school life.
A lot of things going down, one after the other. It does feel like a chess game being set. I do hope someone finds the time to kill the grandfather, my bets are on the grandma but anyone would do at this point.
