Recommended to me by my sister about a year ago, I subsequently read a five star review in ‘Scream,’ a magazine which couldn’t be further from her taste. This got me curious, exactly what kind of book is this? The answer, one of the most unique I things ever read. I don't know if i could honestly say that this was the book of the year, but boy, it's definitely the most experimental: shorts stories that link, intersect, overlap and then completely fold in on themselves. I guess this is a so-called ergodic literature. Ostensibly a horror novel, but not… If John Darnielle’s excellent “Universal Harvester” was about the the horror of time this is about the horror of data. Something well worth considering at a time when Dominic Cummings is using data analytics to undermine an entire democracy. But if this is a so called "Brexit Novel" novel, it’s it's most oblique one ever written.
