Summary & Discussions of Forgiving What You Can't Forget by Lysa TerKeurst: Discover How to Move On, Make Peace with Painful Memories, and Create a ... a Beautiful Again
Forgiving What You Can’t Forget gives the people who go with Jesus in a new way.
In the very first pages, author Lysa Tereurst tells us “The more our pain consumes us, the there more it will control us.” And it does so.
Chapter 1, we get “Forgiveness isn’t an act of determination. Forgiveness is only made possible by my cooperation.” (p. 8) And in chapter 2 there is “I know what it feels like to have been hurt so deeply that forgiveness is a lovely ideal until they have something to forgive.” (15)
In page 21, we have “So my counselor wisely pointed out some hyperspirtual statements I’ve made to give the appearance that my heart is more healed than it actually….” In some of the early pages there are, I think, is more personal to know that “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive.”
But in the book there are powerful statements about what Jesus did: “The cross was the most holy act of forgiveness that ever took place.” (43)
And there is “To understand d me and why I function the way, you have to first understand my mom, who,, for most of my life, was my person,” (57) The book begins to have a better stretch on the book.
In the book, there are some things that tell the events of Jesus. And Terkeurst’s way of the story has some things some things about the life of Jesus. It’s useful to think about that.
In many churches can have a strong way to think about how we think of these books can give us think in ways we haven’t done much (or some over many years.)
