I enjoyed this series. I especially enjoyed the absolutely gorgeous visual storytelling, really taking advantage of the medium.

My problem isn't so much with the story itself as it is with the marketing of the book. How, exactly, was this "girls love" when one of them denies the two of them are even friends until the very end and the other never shows indication of wanting to be anything other than friends. It's a beautiful story - of female friendship. But not romantic love. I'm not saying this because they don't kiss (or more), I'm saying it lacks emotional depth (sure, there's some tension but really.), which is excusable since they're highschool students, but the time skip at the end is so brief and so entirely open to interpretation, a severely homophobic (or even just oblivious to the shelving) person could read and enjoy this book and reasonably interpret this as nothing but girls being pals. So it's not Girls Love and shouldn't be shelved as such.

The wasted potential of this manga series... man.

I still love the art style a lot, but

Also, there's this really stupid bit about a teacher having had a crush on a student who graduated, and that could have been cut entirely. You can still have the theme of the teacher feeling regret over advice she has given to students that ended up not being useful (she encouraged that student to become a teacher, which he wanted to do at the time, but then realised wasn't a good fit), without the weird implied missed romantic connection. Like, we don't even know the guy's name, no one cares, just cut it. I hate when manga does this.

Kind of disappointing that Yano never opened up to Aya; she even implied at one point that they're not even friends. It's weird, because Yano obviously liked Aya enough to stay behind for her when her parents moved. She just never showed any affection towards Aya for some reason. They spent all of high school in this weird dynamic where Aya tries to get close to Yano and Yano keeps pushing Aya away. The ending for the final volume was super rushed, but we got to see them reunite as adults in their respective careers.

In all, this was an ok series, even if I was left disappointed. Not to mention, the art style is gorgeous and there's a lot of beautiful visuals.

It's cute! I'm surprised it didn't end romantically but I'm quite fine with the ephemeral high school friendship too. The art this volume was top notch.

Letztere will unbedingt in Kontakt bleiben, doch ihre Freundin bleibt stark.

Gesamt: 4/5

I liked this volume the most out of the three, however I would have appreciated more gl, because there definitely was not any. If it would not have been sold as gl it would have been completely fine, because the friendship was very funny to read as it fully mirrors my relationship with my bestfriendXD The drawing style is gorgeous und even though the end was quite rushed, I liked that they connected again:)

ok actually i'm gonna use this as an excuse to ramble about the manga overall, not just the third volume alone bc i'm lazy to separate the reviews tbh. i absolutely adored this manga, and its probably one of my favorite yuri mangas at least ATM because i'm always swapping through favorites. i loved the complexities of aya and tsukiko's friendship/relationship (whatever they are because its honestly super unconventional and complicated to me, but i really liked that) and the complexities of the characters themselves. how they're such polar opposites and yet they couldn't seem to be away from each other. so many unspoken words between them but when they were communicated they were such strong turning points for the chapters/overall volumes. the artwork was absolutely gorgeous and the development of the art throughout the manga was so pleasing to see. i definitely see why people say it's driven more artistically than through writing and in some parts i honestly do agree with this. for my criticisms i do wish it ended differently, it felt very awkward and while i do like the trope of unspoken words it feels incomplete when the words are absolutely never communicated. the ending felt rushed especially within this volume and i really feel there could've been a couple of extra chapters to an extra volume to have more moments between them and to have them more properly communicate with each other, specifically towards the end. like i feel like moments where they hang out and stuff could've been stretched to chapters instead of them just being like "oh btw we hung out" in certain chapters i guess? this is also partially me simply wishing it was longer because i really adore the both of them. also i just wish they changed the entirety of chapter 6 because i understand the message trying to be delivered but it could've been delivered without the one sided crush towards a teacher. like at least he doesn't reciprocate + it was only a chapter long but still idk i just don't like those things in media honestly. ik the main complaint of the book is that there was little to no romance but To Me i don't really consider it as yuribait i just consider them as unconventional because there's definitely moments that feel more than platonic. once again this is really a me thing because in general i kinda stray away from romance except with yuri sooooooooo. but i understand people who say they want more romantic content regardless especially if they're going into the manga prioritizing romantic aspects (since it's labeled as a yuri manga after all). overall i do adore this manga and it's still one of my favorites but there are some parts that kind of take off the 5 star rating for me. in general i'm the type to believe that even if something is my favorite thing and i'm obsessed with it i'm not gonna consider it the best piece of fiction to have ever been written if it's worthy of criticism SO. ok i think thats all i wanna say though yay

I can see what this series tried to do with a "complex" dynamic between two female outcasts but it failed spectacularly and just ends up being a big waste of potential. I felt absolutely nothing for the characters or the plot, they're incapable of having a single sincere conversation or a hint of development, but worst of all.. not only are they NOT in a relationship, they aren't even actual friends (i.e. in denial until the very end) so getting this recommended as a sapphic romance kinda pisses me off.

Ultimately kinda okay, not terrible, more of a 1.5 rating. The art is nice but the reluctant friendship never feels anything but forced. A shame.

beautiful artwork, along with the first two volumes. where 1 and 2 already had slow development, this one seemingly completely came to a halt and then took some steps back however. maybe i just don't get it. conflicting feelings. like 2.6.

Okay, where do I start...
To be honest, giving this 5 stars probably isn't my honest opinion. I loved reading Night and Sea, it entertained me and the artwork is truly beautiful. But it's just not a girls love story. The two protagonists are friends at best. To me, it did seem like Aya had a crush on Tsukiko but it wasn't requited - let alone properly acknowledged.
I still had a good time reading though. If it was more than 3 volumes I probably wouldn't have bought the whole thing but I also don't regret buying it.
Again, the artwork was absolutely stunning!!
