Biking through different book genres

Being chased by literal killer trees while stressing about exams is such a mood. I totally felt for David because his panic was so relatable right from the start. The whole vibe was just super fast-paced and chaotic in the best way possible. Once the woods actually came alive and Alice pulled out that blue fire, my anxiety spiked and I honestly couldn't stop turning the pages.

My absolute favorite part was the magic bicycles and how they jumped into the different literature worlds. Going from a creepy gothic horror setting straight into a classic countryside murder mystery was so much fun. It felt like I was riding along with them trying to escape. Every time they jumped, it was like starting a completely new story, but with the same nervous group of friends just trying to survive nature turning against them.

I'm giving it four stars just because things got a little too weird for my brain near the end. The jump into the surreal version of Dublin and that ultra-violent tennis tournament totally threw me off, and it felt a lot more confusing to follow than the earlier worlds. Even with that trippy shift, it was a super fun escape. If you ever wanted to literally hide inside your favorite stories to get away from the real world, you should totally check it out.

Torn Pages was such a fun and compelling read! It felt like I was jumping into a whole new fantasy world – one that would exhilarate and scare any reader out there! Ralph Burton’s writing style made it easy to become invested in the story – and the characters. There was instantly this sense of something more going on, even when the world appeared to be exactly what one would expect. Right up until suddenly everything was turned on its head, of course.

Personally, I liked how different Torn Pages read from many other books I’ve read, even those of a similar genre. It’s always refreshing to get something different, it feels like a breath of fresh air, you know? Part of me is actually a little bit sad that this is a standalone novel!

A Brilliant Adventure Through the Worlds of Books!

Torn Pages is an imaginative and thrilling read that pulled me in from the very first chapter. The concept of traveling through different literary worlds is both clever and beautifully written, blending fantasy, mystery, and adventure in a way that feels completely original. David and Alice are relatable and engaging characters, and the story’s mix of danger, wonder, and creativity kept me hooked until the end. If you love books about books and stories that come alive—literally—you’ll be captivated by this one. Highly recommend!
